    Amount per Meal

I aim for 1/2 cup - like 1/2 C of Cereal with 1/2 C skim milk. I can eat more though and when I asked about this my surgeon said that while we are wide open (no fills yet) we should be physically able to eat like we used to. I have noticed that I have to slow down or its uncomfortable though. Also, these first six weeks are about letting the body heal and your band get settled in well. We are to focus on eating healthy foods and exercising and resting when needed as we heal. After that, it's time to get down to serious business of losing weight. Anything before that is a bonus. Listen to your body. Eat slowly so you can feel when you are full, then stop. You don't want to overfill your stomach and risk pushing your band out of place or having a PB (productive burp). Neither would be good.

    Miss Manners speaks out

I completely agree with the need for people to refrain from insulting others simply because their opinions differ. I have jumped on people in threads for doing this because I can't stand to see someone point out others and imply they are cruel, judegemental, stupid, etc. I also agree that a thread is probably not the best place to deal with it. Unfortunately, it has been necessary at times in order to defend the person under attack and to help them not want to run away from LBT. I have gotten many PMs thanking me for standing up for people. I suppose I could send the offender a PM and then send the person under attack a supportive PM. I'll give that consideration next time. However, I do not promise that I won't speak my mind in defense of another should this type of thing occur again. There is also a big difference in a good debate and outright insults. We all have the right to explore our successes and failures, fears and joys. Just because the other person's view point doesn't match your own, doesn't mean they are stupid - well, not always. *grins*

    Bacon!

Ok, how sad is this.. We woke up this morning and were being lazy, laying in bed and talking, when all of a sudden this most heavenly scent floated in through the open window. It was frying bacon. I whined, and shed a few tears, and laughed at how crazy I am for crying. Then I regrouped, and tried to fall back on my new brainwashing technique which goes like this: 1. When you smell good food cooking, breathe it in and enjoy it as a beautiful fragrance, much like a spring morning when the crocuses and hyacinths are in bloom. 2. Remember, you do not go outside and graze in your flower bed when the fragrances drift in through the windows. (ok, some of you might *snickers*) Just because it smells heavenly doesn't mean you have to eat it to be fulfilled. 3. Let the aroma itself be satisfying. All that said.. I have one more word. BACON!!!

    Fat family, it's not inherited!!

*smiles* Think it, but then keep it to yourself. There is no reason any of us should be made to feel stupid for wanting to share something which is obviously important to us.

    So frustrated... need suggestions...

Don't panic yet. I've read that sometimes slips can self adjust with an unfill. Hang onto positive thoughts and I'll be doing the same for you. Hope you are feeling better soon. *big hugs* PS Ten pounds in a week. I am SO jealous!

    Fat family, it's not inherited!!

Sunta - Don't worry about the objections. I keep repeating my theory on other threads very much like this one (in regards to our reactions to other people's behaviors) because I feel it's important. If nobody else out there relates.. oh well. I'm still here saying it outloud, if only for my own therapy! To anca - If you'll look around, you'll see that there are at least four threads going discussing our reactions to those around us who are still overeating. Is this beating a dead horse? There are many who are out there saying that their weight is a disease, while others claim it is merely choices they've made. To single out someone and attempt to make them look stupid for their contribution is wrong. Please refrain from doing that again. Thanks.

    Getting through the red tape

Oh geeze, I didn't have to deal with insurance (self pay) but I did have to jump thru all the hoops of the pre-tests. Luckily, if it's really lucky, I had a pretty bad hernia the doctor wanted to repair at the same time, so I got pushed thru the line fairly quickly. Even still, I was so anxious and nervous I didn't think the day would ever arrive. And now here I am a month later saying, 'Wow, where did that month go??' Hang in there. Everything happens in just the right time. Trust that your surgery will too. Take this time to start preparing yourself mentally and physically for the surgery. Start watching your food, lose what you can, exercise, etc. All of this will help you make a speedy recovery and give you less to lose after the surgery!

Please Help Me Get a Food List Together

Hey Sunta.. be careful with the eggs. I hear they cause a lot of people to PB. Try them but eat slowly and really chew to test them out. Sounds like you are ready! Ok, I'm getting excited for you now! *hugs* Oh.. there is a post somewhere that lists out things you should have for after surgery. It includes things besides food. I'll try to find it for you.

    Who were you banded by?

I was banded in Boise, Idaho by the most wonderful surgeon a bandster could hope for.. Dr. Robert Cahn. Only a month into this and feeling great. I'm very excited about what this year has in store for us! By the way.. all of you posting here, take a sec to go to the STATS thread in the General Discussion forum and post your info to be included in the LBT study we are doing! Here is the link to take you to it: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14559 Thanks!
