Umm.. no offense, but that was way too much info for me, even on a XXX thread.

Fiber One Cereal is also a yummy fiber source. I have mentioned this on another thread recently. Dawg and I have started having 1/2 cup in the morning and another at night and we are sooo regular now! heh And with 1/2 C of skim milk, its only 100 calories. Im scared of tortillas too

I love seeing new people arriving here. Whether banded for a long time, or waiting to join the crowd. Welcome Breed! This is a great place for friendship and support. Jump right in and let us get to know you. Where were you banded? How's it going for you?

I fondly remember bread.. and what all it has done for me over the years. I keep momentos of our long relationship so I never forget the intense addiction we had to one another. All the times I so lovingly held the softness in my fingers, smelled the aroma, the melting butter soaking into the delicsious fluff of white. MMmmm... Here, let me show you a few momentos. Here are my thighs, notice how they resemble large blobs of dough. And look, here is my double chin, placed there with loving care by pastries and buttery garlic bread. And oo.. look.. here on my lower back, see these rolls? *smiles* Ah potato rolls, hard rolls, cinnamon rolls.. need I say more? It hurt to say goodbye to my love, but it had to be done.. and do you know why? I'll tell you why.. because, NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS!

Meets tonight and Veritas, Dawg, and I will be there! Anyone else in the area coming? How about you Patty? 7-8:30 pm Behind St. Al's on Hartman St. in the white tent looking thing. Go wee first.. the bathroom's in the building across the street. Too bad we don't have some LBT cards to pass out. We could get more bandsters on board!

Hiays Dawn, so sorry to hear about all of the problems you've been having. This thread is where everyone is listing their information about getting their band - date, location, doctor name, and if they erroded or down. We are collecting the data for our own survey of sorts. To get the best responses for you post, please go to the main page, then into the lapband complications forum and repost this information as a new thread (theres a button at the top of the forum for new threads). That way more people will see it and respond. You could also post again here on this thread, and add your information to the survey. That would be great. Check the other pages of this thread to see what information is being collected and how to report it. Thanks and I sure do hope you find some help here with your troubles. It has to stink to be going thru that! Best of luck to you. *hugs*

Being curious about ion exchange whey Proteins, I did some research and found this excellent article. Thought you all might be interested in reading it too. http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/health-nutrition/whey-protein-powder-1.htm

I was told that 1/2 (4oz) to 1 cup (8oz) was about right. More than a cup and you need a fill.

I highly recommend Fiber One cereal. 1/2 Cup in the morning, and another 1/2 Cup in the evening as a snack. This -will- make you regular. It's worked wonders for Dawg and me. I wish I'd have listened to my mother years ago! Here's the nutritional info from nutritiondata.com: Calories 59 Fat 1g Cholesterol 0 Sodium 129mg Carbs 24g - Fiber 14g - Sugar 0 Protein 2g

Oh that is hillarious! Wonder if the video would win on Funniest Home Videos.

I haven't had nightmares about the band but you might try this. I am told that it is a huge help for many. Do not focus on how many breaths you are taking, but on the correct form. Don't give up if it takes a while at first. Once you get used to the exercise, it will have you at peace and asleep again in no time at all. How to do Deep Breathing Exercises: Sit up straight. (Do not arch your back) First exhale completely through your mouth. Place your hands on your stomach, just above your waist. Breathe in slowly through your nose, pushing your hands out with your stomach. This ensures that you are breathing deeply. Imagine that you are filling your body with air from the bottom up. Hold your breath to a count of two to five, or whatever you can handle. It is easier to hold your breath if you continue to hold out your stomach. Slowly and steadily breathe out through your mouth, feeling your hands move back in as you slowly contract your stomach, until most of the air is out. Exhalation is a little longer than inhalation. After you get some experience you don’t need to use your hands to check your breathing. You can also do the above breathing exercise lying on your back. Deep breathing exercises can help you to relax before you go to sleep for the night, or fall back asleep if you awaken in the middle of the night. You can also practice deep breathing exercises standing – e.g. while sitting in traffic, or standing in a lineup at the grocery store. If you are really tense and feel as if you are holding your breath, simply concentrate on slowly breathing in and out.

How much did you lose pre-op or have you lost pre-op?
PhotoNut replied to skbishop78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost 16 pounds - was on the diet about 2 1/2 weeks. I was so afraid I wasn't going to be able to lose enough but was pleasantly surprised. I don't think overall weight has anything to do with the fatty liver thing. If we've been on a high fat diet for some time the liver will have a lot of fatty build up in it and (in some cases) be too large to safely move aside during surgery. -
March 7 Banding Scheduled
PhotoNut replied to ralheit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Heyas Robin.. Just wanted to join the rest in welcoming you to LBT. I started hanging out here about a month before I got banded (Jan 9th) and learned so much that it helped relieve many of my fears. I know many people struggle thru the pre-op diet, but I was thrilled to get started because it was the beginning of my journey and watching the pounds fall away prior to surgery was great! Best of luck to you.. keep us posted on your progress. -
Hiya Kathy, welcome to LBT! Sounds like you had a bit of a rough start but you're well on your way now. Grats on your weightloss. You'll be at goal before you know it!

What are the reasons u wouldn't get a fill?
PhotoNut replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon takes several things into account when deciding on the need for a fill. Are you losing weight. Are you hungry between meals. Are you able to eat more than a cup of food at one time. There is a thread in the Fill forum you should look at which has a great checklist to go thru before you decide if you truly need a fill or not. Check that out. -
I don't want the loss to slow down/stop!
PhotoNut replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
*laughs* Someone listed them on the PostOp shopping thread in the FAQ forum. Apparently you can buy cheap BBQ tongs and wrap toilet paper around the end for that extra reach. Again, I wish I'd heard of those before surgery. There was no way I could bend over like I needed too. It's already hard when your so fat, but cut into also? LOL -
Please help!! Fickle band and I think I need a fill!
PhotoNut replied to Bensmum1109's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first reaction was grilled chicken? Ack! I would suggest meats that are cooked so they are moist. Grilled chicken tends to be tough and dry. I eat tuna too but I put two tablespoons of fat free Thousand Island dressing in it so it is very moist. There have been some great crockpot recipes posted in the food forum. I have read that the band can be very fickle. One day you may be able to tolerate a particular food and the next day not. If you are getting hungry between meals you might need a fill. But check a few things first. Are you getting your 60 grams of Protein per day? Are you drinking 64oz of Water per day? Are you spacing your meals out too far? Are you drinking with your meals? There is an excellent check list in the Fill Forum that you should peek at. I hope this has helped. I haven't had my first fill yet, but I've been studying like crazy to be ready for it. -
I don't want the loss to slow down/stop!
PhotoNut replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Even walking will do.. 30 minutes a day I was told. Sounds to me like youre staying fairly active though. It's hard to say how long I was sore. I had hernia surgery (just above my belly button) which was not laproscopic and that hurt worse. I did have a band of pain around my chest, just below my ribs, that hurt like crazy. It was from the bit gas used during surgery that was still there and putting pressure on my diaphram. I remember how hard it was to um.. go to the bathroom alone. (I wish I'd have heard about toilet tongs!) I would say that by the second week I was doing a LOT better. Although some are up and out the next day. -

I don't want the loss to slow down/stop!
PhotoNut replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon said that while the band is wide open (no fill) I should physically be able to eat like I used to. I am noticing that since the swelling from surgery has gone down, I am able to eat more at a time, so I'm really trying to watch the amounts. -
I don't want the loss to slow down/stop!
PhotoNut replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I cried the first Monday I got on the scales and saw that I had only lost two pounds. The week prior I had lost 8 pounds. But I had to remind myself about what I was just sharing with someone on another thread. The first six weeks is the time for your body to heal and the band to settle in. When you go from an extreme liquid diet to eating more solid foods and taking in more calories its only natural that your loss will slow down. Some even gain some weight back before that first fill, but usually no more than 10 pounds. During your first six weeks, focus on following your diet, start exercising, and take extra good care of your tummies so you give it every chance to heal and be ready for the more solid foods at six weeks. Most every bandster will tell you that weight loss in this stage of the game is merely a bonus. The real stuff starts when you get a fill, if you need one. For some, the band is enough. The average loss is about 8 pounds per month - 2 pounds per week. In one year's time, that is 104 pounds loss at a very reasonable and safe rate. Cheer up gals. This is only the start of the journey. You're all doing fine.
