What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
PhotoNut replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I absolutely refuse to be drawn into a childish war with DeLarla or her friends. We have been baited all week long and you all might as well give up. For those of you who wish to pick up this new 'war' please don't do so on our behalf. Of all the things to be going on, this is just pathetic and I won't be involved . And I'm going to continue to ignore all of you involved. Just like I have been doing. Rock on! -

This has clearly become a personal attack on us. I request that it stop. -

ShellyJ - I was joking with Donali. DeLarla - There are no words for you. -
Hey Mel. Grats on your banding! My doc told me that until I got a fill, it would be business as usual after the swelling went down. We are 'wide open' until that first fill. If your doctor sent you home with a fill, I guess it would depend on your band type as to how much would be needed to feel restriction. I know many do not fill for a few weeks because it gives the band time to settle in, the swelling to go down, and so on. Of course, you should always feel free to call your Dr and ask these questions. As for me, when I expressed concern over being able to eat too much, I was told to just stick to the post-op guidelines and not worry too much about things until I was filled. This is a time for healing and adjusting. One final thought. Are you getting enough Protein? I've found that if you are getting in that 60 grams per day, you'll be less hungry. Protein takes longer to break down and pass thru the stomach, so you stay full longer. Hope this helped ya in some way.

I know Veritas was scheduled to be banded but ended up in emergency surgery on Valentine's Day to have cysts removed. You know, I used to suffer from that a LOT a long time ago. And until this thread had forgotten all about it. I haven't had any problems since I had my tubes "tied". How odd. Not complaining mind you, I remember well that pain and it's NOT fun! Hope you get thru the surgery with ease. Keep us posted on how you're doing Ali.

Hm.. no, I think that's just because you show up. *laughs* Seriously, that happens a lot too. Someone kick me out!

Magirl, it's like you said.. you've worked too hard and gone thru so much already.. so don't give up now! You have your band in place, get it to start working for you so you don't have to do this on your own, which is basically what you're doing. Hold your head up, walk in there and look them in the eye and say, 'Let's get this party started!' Get your fill and then get back on your journey. It's all good. No shame necessary at all. We never fail until we stop trying. Yeah? *smiles*

I'll do this with ya. I enjoy tracking my weight with others. Do we weigh in weekly? on a particular day? If you need help keeping a main page, I'll be glad to do that since I'm not working, Heather.

I sure do! *bounce*bounce*bounce* LOL

Oh Brenda, you are so pretty! Wow, these pics always make me cry. I'm so happy for you, for everyone who's seeing these kinds of results and for those of us who get so much inspiration from pics like yours. Thank you for sharing!

Hiyas Niki! So glad you found us.. welcome! Alex is right, we were just reading about the difference between the bands last night (on Inamed's site) and they say the first fill should be 4cc to begin restriction. You might just need a bit more. Keep working with your doc and you'll find just the right restriction. I don't know my conversions well either, but I've been told the average weight loss is right about 2 pounds per week. How long have you been banded?

I'm not bored! How can anyone be bored here with so many people to meet and talk to! There's so many interesting subject being discussed that I can't keep up! *laughs* This place is awesome!

Question for those on effexor or wellbutrin
PhotoNut replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been taking Effexor Xr my entire 6 weeks with no problems. I take the capsules (75mg). My doc told me that the exterior of the capsule disolves so its not like taking a pill that size. I just had a fill on Monday, could feel the restriciton, could feel the tightness even when drinking water - still took the Effexor with no problems at all. -

*bump!* I couldn't resist!! LOL -
I agree Jonathan, the RNY research I've seen doesn't have very impressive statistics, especially when you're talking about a surgery that you will be stuck with for life - no going back. And I've seen a good deal of statistics which indicate that after 3 years, the RNY patients regain the weight. Nope, not good enough for me to let someone re-route my innards! heh I think I agree with Kathy. You didn't really get a chance to experience what a well adjusted band can do for you. Heck, give it a shot.. what do you have to lose? Anyway, that's what -I- would do. I wish you all the best in finding the right answer for -you-. And I'm glad to see you still here and posting as well!

Sunta! You have been on everyone's mind, can you tell! It's so good to see that youre home, you lived, and youre doing well enough to talk to us! I'm so proud of you for walking forward when the fear was telling you to run. The gas and pain will ease up in a few days. Just take it very easy, get all the rest you need, walk when you can (the more you move around the more it will help move that gas go away), drink lots of Water so you don't dehydrate, be sure to get your Protein in and when you drink remember to sip slowly. There, that's the mom side of me taken care of. I fully agree with Betty. Your surgeon is the best one to ask questions about why you need those injections and medications. I have read that it's not uncommon for diseased gallbladders to be removed during surgery. Perhaps he saw that yours doesn't need removing, just some preventative measures. Give him a call when you feel like it and ask all the questions you want. That's what you paid him for! Then let us know. I'm really curious about the injections. Woot! I'm so happy for you! Welcome home, and welcome to Bandland girl!!!

Oh my gosh! Sammee, what an amazing job you have done over the past year. Girl, when you get that TT done, you are going to be soooo happy!! You look great! Congratulations!

Pugmum, my surgeon is a kidder too. At my three weeks check up I complained about my weight loss slowing down and I thought he was going to hit me over the head with the file he was holding. At my first fill (two days ago) he was holding the syringe like a dart across the room and telling me what a good aim he is! I think some docs use humor to get us to relax, trouble is some people just don't know how to joke well. You should have given him a look of complete shock and then dropped your face into your hands and pretened to be sobbing. When he tried to apologize, you could have lifted your head, grinned at him and said, 'And what you need is a sense of humor transplant! ' This thread has made me laugh! You people are SO funny!

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
PhotoNut replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I guess Im confused. Who -are- all of these people we keep saying are leaving? I only know of one who has. More people arrive everyday, some from long ago are returning. Someone said that there are fewer posts, but I'm overwhelmed by all of the posts. There's even an entire thread about not being able to keep up with all of ths posts now. This thread confuses me. I know a couple of people were going to leave, but they got their issues resolved and are here and active. Why is this thread still going? Am -I- missing something? -

Im posting these for DianeChef. Here ya go Diane! Fifty pounds lighter and a whole lotta sass goin' on! w00t! -
Haha! Funny, I had a nurse that did that to us while I was in recovery. We got her fired. No joke. Sat there telling us how she wanted out of that hospital because of yadda yadda.. *rolls eyes*.. So yes, we complained and got her fired. Oh but there was that other bit about her licking the hydracodone left in my medicine cup after I drank it, and she could hardly talk or stand up from being so out of it.. so yeah.. Um.. wow.. I rambled right off the beaten path there, now I'm lost. Someone find me please?

Apparently not! LOL -
Great news! The time will fly by! But don't treat yourself like you're about to step into the twilight zone where you'll never be able to eat again. Quite the contrary! There's no need to eat everything you can before it's all taken away. *laughs* (I felt like that too) As one who stepped over to bandland in January, I can honestly tell you that it's not dark and bleak and foodless over here! Why not make today the first day of your journey. Get in shape for that surgery, and already be several pounds on your way to being healthy by the time you get your band? I'm so excited for you! *hugs*

What really bends my nose out of shape is sticking my head out the car window to yell at someone before I remember to roll down the window. :welldone2: Seriously, when I see people with small children on their laps in vehicles I want to go yell at them. In today's world of information overload, EVERYONE knows that noone can safely hold a child during a wreck! We were in a Babys R Us parking lot this past weekend, and the police had a huge display about the importance of carseats for children. They had a car which had been involved in a roll over accident, but the childseat in the back was still in place, they were offering to check or install carseats for free.. and someone drove right by it in a very small pickup with three adults in it, the one by the passenger door was holding a baby on her lap. OMG.. I wanted to do a citizens arrest or something!
