    Stainless Steel Sink advice needed......

For shower walls and tub sides (not the floor of the tub!) a friend of mine uses rub on/buff off car wax! Water rolls right off with no chance for soap and mineral build up! I will be using this on mine this week. We have horrible Iron deposits in our area that turns everything orange.

    Getting it off my chest...

Thanks NuSho and Kellie  I haven't done much research into the TT yet, but I'm sure planning on it. I've dealt with the rashes and stuff for years too. Lord knows what's going to happen with this when I start getting into some serious pounds lost. So I appreciate the info. Kellie, sounds like you have done your homework m'dear! I am really happy for you that you're going to see your dream realized. *big hugs*

I am NOT the Energizer Bunny!

Shawn! *laughs* I know it's not funny when it's happening, but coming from one who's "given birth" a few times herself I had to laugh. Mary - I don't have any problems with cereal in the mornings. The Fibre One grinds into a very fine consistancy. But if you're tight in the mornings, try what Keri and Sarah have suggested and add in the dry Fiber One during the day. It's great as a snack or salad topper, etc. Try it and see.

    Post Op question

I remember those first few days when everything I drank was from a medicine cup. The kind on top of a cough syrup bottle. I was so happy when I could finally drink more than one of those full of water! heh I would call your Dr's office first thing in the morning and verify exactly what they want you to do. When in doubt, call. Until then, play it safe and stick with clear liquids. Be kind to your newly placed band. Don't risk getting sick at this very tender stage of your recovery. Grats on your band, and all the best for your weight loss journey!

Do you have a treadmill at home?

Hey Paula - We love it. No complaints at all. It's very sturdy, very quiet, easy to operate, and even has shelves for your beer and Snacks *winks* The walking platform folds up, which is great for getting it out of the way. The LCD panels are large and easy to read. It has a fan with varying speeds. And you can get workouts from the website by attaching the treadmill to the computer (yep, it has jacks) which will control the workout. If that made sense. Pretty nifty if ya ask me!

    Committment Thread to lose weight

So far today: I will walk a minimum of 1/2 mile on my dreadmill every day. (Done) I will drink 64 oz. of Water every day. (Done) I will take on one achievable project in my house per day. (Done! I cleaned my desk! It looks brand new! Yay!) I will NOT sit on my arse all day doing nothing but fighting head hunger out of pure boredom! (started blech.. ended up great.. feels good to DO something!) I will NOT eat while doing distracting things, which causes me to eat too quickly and not chew well. (Still working on this.)

I am NOT the Energizer Bunny!

Hey Shawn, don't know if you've ever tried Fiber One cereal or not, but it's really good and keeps me from having the horrid contsipation problems I did at first. Most fiber cereal tastes like cardboard, but this stuff reminds me of graham crackers. I only eat 1/2 cup per day with skim milk, but it would also be good dry as finger snacks.

I am new to this site

Hey Billie! Welcome to LBT! It's so great to hear you have the support of your family. That is always so helpful. It is kinda scary to think about the lifestyle changes you will need to make in order to succeed with the band, but from one who crossed over to bandland not so long ago I assure you that it's not as bad as we imagine it to be. Best of luck to you in your journey. I look forward to hearing more about you!

    Hi from Karen S

Welcome Karen! Glad you joined us! I remember well the exictement I had when I started learning about the band. It's a feeling of hope like I hadn't had in years. The lapband offers the possiblity for great success, but keep in mind that it will not solve all of the problems that brought us all to obesity. It is a wonderful tool for those that are mentally ready to use it to it's fullest potential. Get to know everyone.. ask tons of questions.. and browse through the endless supply of stories and opinons from those who struggle, those who are elated with their success, and those who are in the process of learning more just like you.

why is YOUR nose bent out of shape?

Wow, TommyO.. coming from a guy who gets naked and covers himself in p-nut butter, that was pretty deep. *grins* Seriously, it was an awesome quote. One we should all study and embrace. I know my garden needs some serious weeding and pruning.

    Getting it off my chest...

Have you guys ever seen MuffinBirdies website? She had a lower body lift and she talks about how important it is to be at or below your goal weight before you have this kind of surgery. Have a look, it's great reading. I think you'll find the info about the body lift in her Journal entries. http://www.myagb.homestead.com/index.html Kellie, I was thinking about your TT as well. Are you sure this is the right time to do this? If you are then I respect your decision. If you're still unsure, maybe do a bit more research first? If you go through the expense and pain of the surgery, then lose more weight, chances are you'll still end up with baggy skin wont you? Wouldn't it be better to wait and have it done when you're at the best possible point for the TT to have the best outcome? Just a thought.

I am having surgery in the morning!!

Yay Dena! I remember so well those last few hours before surgery. I was so anxious to get started with the band that I never thought to be nervous. My hubby was a basket case though. heh Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and when you get home be sure to let us know how you're doing! I'll be thinking about ya! *smiles*

Feel l ike I can eat a horse

Hey Stacey, if you like fish.. Gorton's makes unbreaded fillets (2 per box) that are so good. Very moist and flakey. The lemon pepper and garlic butter are both excellent sources of protein and so easy to eat. I eat them in a bowl so I can use the buttery sauce for dipping. Both fillets have a total of 200 calories and 34 grams of protein.

I am NOT the Energizer Bunny!

I think having a blood test is an excellent idea. In addition, are you eating enough Protein? I'm a big advocate of protein as many of you know. When our 'diet' consists of low carb, low fat, and we are eating very low calorie, the body will look to muscle for energy. This could cause tiredness as well. So make sure you're eating well, and have your Iron checked. Let us know how you're doing ok?

    Exercise Equipment

I was looking at this the other night. Do the bands come with it? Under accessories, it appears that the bands might come separately. On the purchase page, it says Main Unit. Makes me wonder. Anyone know what actually comes with this? There are so many extra bands you can order.. I wonder if the original ones are weak and you soon have to buy more heavy duty ones.
  22. Actually, this is Dr. Pleatman. I emailed him at his office to verify.

    Average Caloric Intake

Jonathan! *laughs* I'm aiming for 800, but typically its more like 700. I talked to my doc last week and he said between 800 and 1,000 is fine as long as you are getting a minimum of 60 grams of Protein per day. If your caloric intake is this low and you're not keeping up with the protein, your body will begin to eat itself (muscles). Remember, the heart is a muscle. If you're eating 800 to 1,000 calories in carbs per day, you need to make some changes.
