6.5 pounds in 4 days!
kayshabear replied to OhHeyMarina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@OhHeyMarina I was only told to make sure I am getting 70-90 grams of Protein. The way I have been doing it is I just have 3 shakes a day (1 for each of my main meals) and then 1 AM snack and 1 PM snack in between each of those meals of either yogurt or SF pudding. Of course I am drinking LOTS of Water all day as well! I have been using the Syntrax nectar protein line, and my favorite is the chocolate Truffle Protein powder flavor. I LOVE it. I have tried many different brands before, and this is the one my sister found and stuck with after her surgery over a year ago and is also my favorite. I didn't care for the Premier Protein Shakes honestly, at least not for me. I tried the broth but the kinds I found at my local grocery stores were NOT good on their own... can't do the broth thing. So I am pretty limited on the variety of things I have in my day but overall I don't feel hungry and I am hitting my protein requirements everyday doing that I keep track of it on my fitbit account. -
6.5 pounds in 4 days!
kayshabear replied to OhHeyMarina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@OhHeyMarina Hey girl, I too have noticed that going through this full liquid diet phase pre-op it is really almost all mental and emotional hunger rather than physical! After about day 4 I found I rarely feel "hungry" and I am much more satisfied with my protein shakes, yogurt, and SF pudding. This phase has caused me a lot more emotional ups and downs than anything, but I am really appreciating the process and it helps me better understand my dependence on food in my life for things outside of hunger and nutrition. You are doing amazing! Keep it up! I am now on day 9 out of 14, it does get better! Just hang in there girl <3 -

I'm the 12th as well! I have a 2 week liquid diet and I'm struggling more with my emotions than not eating. This journey is life changing in so many ways than just physical, but I am already so happy I'm able to do it! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Mine is Monday after next! (12th) I am on day 5 of my diet now and its hard but so worth it! What part of TX are you in? -
Starting day 5 of my liquid diet today, and I am down almost 8 pounds! Yay!
-
Yes my doctor requires a nicotine test but he told me up front at my initial appt so I had to quit. It is worth it though to regain our health and there are so many complications that can occur if you smoke before and after surgery since it affects your bodies ability to heal.

VERY tired on my pre-op diet and low blood pressure

I am on day 4 of my liquid diet and its pretty hardcore as well, no solid foods. I have been so exhausted and today I was super nauseous. I guess it most likely is just the drastic change in diet and calorie intake, so our bodies are just a little shocked by it all. Thank goodness this is all temporary! Good luck on your surgery that is around the corner! -
Surgery Tomorrow!

Hey everyone! My VSG surgery date is Dec. 12th and I am currently finishing day 3 of my liquid diet. My surgeon never mentioned binders to me and whether or not they can be used after surgery. Did any of yall choose to use a binder afterwards to help with the pain and get around easier in the beginning? Is it safe to use in general? What kinds are there and where can you buy them? Any help is greatly appreciated ???? Sent from my LG-K371 using the BariatricPal App

Newbie question
kayshabear replied to Italian Girl1989's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just letting you know I have tried different protein powders and things as well and I REALLY like the Syntrax nectar chocolate Truffle powder. It is so good I ordered it with 2 other Nectar flavors to try! My sister uses this one and had her surgery over a year ago, so I tried it and love it. We buy it on Ebay but you can buy it directly on their website as well and they always have a 20% off code Just in case you want to try something yummy with little to no protein-y taste! -
I am going as a self pay patient, and from first apt with the surgeon to my scheduled surgery date of 12-12-16, it will be almost 3 months. Took a bit for me to get all the pre-op appointments in required by my surgeon but I feel blessed it has gone this fast! I'm currently on day 3 of my liquid diet and going strong!

You got this! We both have surgery the same day!

I am completely with you on these feelings! I would think that is very normal to feel. I too started my liquid diet on Monday, so I am experiencing all kinds of emotions and thoughts as well. Either way, just know that you wanting to better your health and take control of your body and mind again is nothing short of amazing! Most of us are going through this to help us get back on track and to take our eating back into control after years of allowing ourselves to be controlled by food, so we should consider ourselves brave and amazing for taking this step to be the best versions of ourselves we can be from here on out! We can't change yesterday, but we can sure as heck change our tomorrow Good luck on everything and let us know when you get your date! Mine is Dec. 12th, so I would think yours should be somewhere around there too Keep in touch!
