Thiasmom how long ago since you tried the jump start. I did that last week and I did finally lose 1 lb. -

I was sleeved on 10/10/2016. I have struggled the entire time with many stalls lasting anywhere from 2 - 3 weeks to now, nothing since December. I am feeling that I had the VSG for naught. But then I think that I wasn't losing weight at all prior to surgery. I have a total loss of about 36 lbs. So I'm feeling that I am in some maintenance phase. I have only had a 1 time gain of a total of 5 lbs. I have tried to reset by going back to liquids only for a day or 2 a week. I am a diabetic and an older sleever (70) do you think both of these conditions are impacting my ability to lose more?
-
Hello. I'm 6.5 months post VGS and in a major stall. I'm beginning to think have gone as far as I can go at 35 lbs overall. the bright spot is that I am not gaining, but have be within the same 1.5 to 2 lbs since December 2016. I'm looking for sleevers over 65 who may be having the same issues as I am. I have lost slowly from the beginning with stalls every few weeks. And Oh yes, I'm diabetic. Regular insulin and one heart/BP med were stopped immediately post-op and I have not needed to resume them. But I am still on long acting insulin and BP meds. I am tracking what I eat I work out with a physical trainer twice a week and try to keep up my steps the remainder of the week. I have tried using the protein shakes again, liquids only for 2 days at a time without much change. My surgeon tells me not to worry about how much I lost, but to concentrate on following the plan, as this is a marathon not a sprint. But that still leaves me having gone through this surgery for such a small loss. Anyone else overcome this?

Anyone lost 1/2 the weight and then can't loose more?

This is disappointing. I had the sleeve on Oct 10, 2016. I lost a total of 40 lbs since I started, but only 36 lbs since surgery. I haven't lost any weight since Dec. 2016. I was hoping, this isn't it. I turned 70 in February. I feel good, working out twice a week with a trainer. But I envisioned myself losing so much more. I too was told I wasn't eating enough, well that's busted. I get 800 to 1,000 Cal / day and lose nothing. I wear my FitBit and always show more out than in, but no weight loss. Now, I in process of dropping back to a liquid diet to try and jump start my loss again. I dropped off the forum for a time because I was so disgusted. I have my 6th month check-up on 4/24. -

Congratulations so far! I was given a booklet with my meal plan - do's & don'ts. There were sample meals that I found most helpful. Do you have anything like that? I was on full liquids two weeks post op. What were y told? est advice I can give is to follow that plan -
Quick question??

Tickled me too. If you don't have any health conditions the restrict it, you can have it in limited amounts. But why, after 3 years? -

I have a Fitbit Alta, runs about $150 on Amazon. I love it. Tracks, food and liquid intake, steps, activity, weight (with you input) and sleep. I may not be the most accurate as a medical device, but it is "good enough" for our purposes. It reminds me to get up and get busy, "let's rock and roll," reminds me it's time to settle down and get ready for bed, etc. And the Alta is not the most advanced Fitbit. As with any tool, you have to be honest in what you input or you'll get bad output. I do know I love it and it has helped me - I started losing again after I started tracking.

I have FitBit Alta, which does the things I mentioned. There are multiple levels and price ranges WebMD has a free online that hels you track food and activity, but it doesn't link the intake ad output like FitBit. I see a Fitness category on this home page, that may lend some guidance. -

That is great! Are you tracking everything you eat? I have noticed that I can't eat the same number of calories every day. It all depends on what I do. The fitness tracker helps me with this. I would freak out when I was in the "red zone" on food intake. Then I learned if as I added more activity the zone would improve. So if you're not tracking try it. -

My weight loss journey

I feel your frustration. I too lost much less than I expected, 30 lbs in 3 months. I am also diabetic with several other co-morbidities. What I can tell you is to measure other achievements and be patient. How are you clothes fitting, have you eliminated or reduced any medications, how do you feel? These are the questions put to me. And if these things are improving, just stay the course. My doctors, including my primary doctor express excitement in my progress and tell me I am being too hard on myself. My bariatric doctor said that his diabetic patients lose at a slower pace and not as much as others. I was disappointed, but it helped me to know this. My dietitian told me that some lose fast at the beginning others are slow and steady. You'll have stalls, but if you just stay on plan you will lose. Also, I keep a food diary with my fitness tracker and that helps by reminding me that I sometimes eat little things that that add up. I haven't had the hair loss too badly. But I am encouraged by others on this site to keep up the Protein intake. That equals hair. Gook luck to you. Hold on! -

Ava how are you doing? I feel like you as I had surgery 10/10 and am only 24 lbs down since surgery and 33 lbs since start of pre-op diet. I tell myself that it is such a small amount for what I've been through. But then I, think how hard it was to lose anything before surgery. I tell myself to keep to the plan, but that is becoming harder as my appetite is returning. Two weeks ago I lost 5.7 lbs and was so happy thinking finally I am starting to lose. But last week I gained 3 lbs. Keep the faith, I am convinced we will make it to a better place in our journey.
