2 weeks no weight loss. GAINED.
sksheppe replied to c86mc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 4 week stall gain in my 5th month that I could attribute first week to vacation but the rest of it made no sense. In the last 7 days I lost 8 lbs doing nothing. Well I did start eating more (I stopped counting carbs, proteins, etc long ago) I had to stop going to the gym since I just had knee surgery as well. Our bodies do start figuring out what we are doing with it and adjust. Throw a wrench in your routine (change your protein type, change your workout and use different muscles, add new veggies to your diet) -
just sleeved 2/10 and can barely reach my liquid intake

My husband had a few issues in the first couple weeks adjusting to volume. I personally had issues even late into my 2nd month. I can now drink more than he can but he can eat more than I. Remember it will vary for every person but it DOES get easier. It also becomes second nature quickly. Remember you did this to make yourself healthier and nothing worth anything comes easy. Stay slow and do what feels right for you. Don't worry about measurable amounts they are guidelines. -

Four Months and 50 pounds
sksheppe replied to sksheppe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you. I also look at the back fat / rolls and inability to see my spine in the before pics. My husband also comments on the dimples disappearing from my butt. I still have about 15 to 30 to go and I know this last part will be the slowest but I WILL get there. -
Six months ago my husband was prepping to have his gastric sleave surgery. He has since lost 53 lbs. But that is his story not mine. I thought I had the power to loose the weight with him without the surgery. I was wrong. I lost a couple of pounds but then started to gain (again)! I didn't feel surgery was for me. I was BMI of 35 with several health issues (high cholesterol, migraines, and constant knee, hip, feet and back pain). After his second week post op, I changed my mind. I saw how well he was doing with recovery and decided to give it a go. I started at 220 lbs 5'6.5", presurg weight of 207.4 lbs. I am now 169.8 lbs. I can't beging to count how many plateaus I have had but going to the gym and walking often has helped immensely. I am going to Jamaica in 11 days and am so excited to be able to wear a bikini that I finally don't fall out of. When I get back my knee surgery will hopefully help me finally get rid of the last of the pain and into a more rigorous workout routine. My back, hip, migraines, and cholesterol issues have all been fixed. OK so I am going to post a pic I am not proud of and one that I am. The first collage is just after I decided to go through with the surgery and had already started my 2 week presurgery diet. I was down almost 6.6 lbs already. The second was taken two days ago when I was down a whopping 49.7 lbs. Today I am down 50.2 lbs since Aug 29.

Pre-op-Anyone starting around 215lbs and BMI 35?
sksheppe replied to Darcia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband tells those that do not know we had the sleeve that we have set ourselves to a new way of thinking and acting towards food. He has also told them that he had a snack earlier so that he wouldn't overeat. When it takes us almost as long to eat our tiny meal as it does for others to eat significantly more, it seems to make sense to them. Then come the compliments for sticking to our diet and doing something right because "We look great." -

I started at 220 bmi 35 and was 207 by surgery (10 day pre op diet). I am down to 180 now as few days shy of week 8. With my dieting in the past I rarely lost my that 10 or 15 lbs then gain it back. Twice I managed to lose to 168 but again gained back within a few months. Without this I don't know what I would have done. -
Had my Gastric Sleeve on Sept 22 (one month after my husband had his). He has had absolutely no issues. No such luck here. Wondering if anyone is this far out still having issues. My first night was horrible. I expected this as I was told by many others that have had the surgery. I didn't expect to be so severe that breathing was a chore and caused my chest to seize. Two weeks POST OP I went to Urgent care because it still hurt like heck to breathe and rolling onto or sleeping on my left side was impossible. It was severe enough for the Urgent Care to send me to the ER for a CT scan to see if I had a Pulmonary Embolism. There I was told that the only issue they had was that both lungs were still not completely inflating (Atelectasis). I was discharged with instructions to continue my breathing exercises. Well the breathing issue has resolved. But I still cannot roll onto my left side without experiencing pain in my upper left quadrant (just under my lower ribs). Occasionally I get a random stabbing pain in the same area. It is the same spot I had the breathing pain. Just went to my PCP for my routine lipid profile. I am happy to say that my overall cholesterol is down 48 pts and all but one of my levels are great and PCP hopes to take me off of my statin in 6 months. The exception is liver enzyme ALT is now at a 50 where it was 28 before (high range is 34). It's not severe enough to do anything other than schedule a follow up lipid profile test in a month but it does have me concerned. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I have to wonder something (pancreas, liver, spleen) was injured during the surgery or if something else is going on.

Vitamin Patches- Do they work?
sksheppe replied to BigKnifeLittleFork's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would like to try them too. My concern is I have latex and adhesive allergies. -
Thanks for that heidikat. I hope you are correct. If it wasn't for the pain I wouldn't be worried. My husband was completely pain free by end of week 3 and I still have it. Shanell thanks for your reply. It's definitely NOT my gallbladder. I had that removed due to gallstones 11 yrs ago. Not saying its not gallstones but the pain is not the same and not triggered by fatty foods like it was before that surgery.
