  1. Thanks, I’ll get in touch with them and see what they can offer 😊
  2. I was sleeved 3 years ago and lost in total about 30 kilos, however sleeve has stretched and am regaining weight all the time. Ive got a date booked in for the 7th April to go from sleeve to bypass. My question is how is the pain after this type of surgery? I’m also booked on a long haul flight (18hrs) exactly 6 weeks after. Has anyone done this? We are already booked and can not be upgraded to business class etc. on top of the costs of my surgery. How have people managed with food at this stage on the plane and will I still be on soft foods etc and do I have to be cautious of dumping? Any advice would be appreciated!
  3. He scheduled the surgery specifically so I would have the 6 week recovery period and knows I’m going overseas, he doesn’t have any concerns about me travelling it’s more me wondering about the comfort and being concerned as far as food goes and how I’ll manage that on the flight if I’m still on soft foods or even purées, I can’t remember where I was at 6 weeks in after my sleeve and not sure if bypass will be different.
  4. Hello everyone. I'm after some stories or experiences that may be similar which will stop me from stressing out about basically everything. I'm 18 days post op and my surgeon has suggested I should be on soft foods now, which I've tried, unsuccessfully. I've met with my nutritionist and she's given me meal plans but everything she's given me isn't working either. I am in intense pain (feels like wind) when I'm eating, it was when I was drinking as well but this has eased off. So I've put myself back on fluids until the pain settles as I'm assuming there should be no discomfort now when trying to eat soft foods? Even when I'm having Soups I end up with excruciating pain followed by the runs and still being in agony. It's starting to really frighten me to even try to consume anything. Is this normal? I'm so worried about my nutrition, I'm taking a multi and am trying to add Protein where I can but its so hard when mostly everything you consume gets put back down the toilet bowl. I don't see my surgeon for two weeks and can't physically see him as I have to take a plane there if there was an emergency as I live remotely. If anyone has any pearls of wisdom to share I'd much appreciate it
  5. Oh thanks. I actually didn't know not to sip on water after meals, maybe that's what's happening? I've been told to sip all day but water is tasting pretty blergh and makes me feel a bit spewy. Thankyou for your advice
  6. I tried a puréed cottage cheese mixed with avocado and that made me dump, and I've had the unsweetened baby food purée apples and was the same. Too scared to try anything else ????
  7. That's what I'm worried about though, I can't even tolerate puréed food. I'm still on clear liquids cause even the most sloppy purées cause so much pain and dumping, I've actually only tried three times and it's happened every time.Surgeon is sending me for a barium scan to see what's going on and to make sure there isn't a leak happening, which I'm sure isn't the case and I'm just taking a bit more time to heal How much are you trying to eat? I'd say no more than a teaspoon every 4-5 hours (that's all I could tolerate) But even so, the pain and dumping you are experiencing doesn't sound right. The most discomfort I ever felt was bloating and fullness. Glad your surgeon is addressing your issues. I can barely eat a teaspoon even if I'm going super slowly. If I'm drinking a smoothie or Soup I'm lucky to fit 50mls. And as soon as I swallow anything the pain is instant and makes me sweat and dizzy. Anything that is a little bit more "dense" is even worse. I just hope it's all normal, I'll find out on Thursday I guess
  8. I'm almost three weeks out and feel the same, it's a strange feeling, it's sort of like when you are pregnant (not sure of your a mum) but even when you aren't thinking about it something reminds you. Hopefully it doesn't last too much longer for you

    Very Frustrated and Confused

I had my surgery the day before you did and to be honest I've only weighed myself (well I didn't my nutritionist did) the once and I haven't checked since. I'm trying to focus on getting my eating and food choices right before I worry about the weight. It's only early days. Give your body time, I'm certain you'll be successful. Hang in there
  10. That's what I'm worried about though, I can't even tolerate puréed food. 11. When I'm talking about fruits and vegetables Im talking completely sloppy puréed fruit, as in stewed apples or pears etc and vegetables puréed, not just crunching into an apple itself And I can't even tolerate puréed foods at all so I'm still on fluids. But am looking forward to being able to start on puréed foods without pain
  12. Glad to hear you are doing well and trasitioning with your foods. My4Brownies, it's good to have the support of people in here, it takes away that worry when you are uncertain about things. Good luck and I hope you keep on going great guns!
  13. Oh thanks Lisa, it's easy to get carried away with yourself when it's all so new and your in unchartered waters so to speak. At least I know that it's not unusual to still be unable to tolerate puréed foods at this stage. Looking forward to when I can look back at this and be feeling much better
  14. I'm not going to lie Ray, it's not been easy but I just have to keep reminding myself about how I struggled to even walk normally etc prior and it keeps me hanging in there. I've had serious dumping issues from eating puréed chicken avocado and cottage cheese so I have no idea what I can actually tolerate. But will be calling my surgeon tomorrow and have a gp appt tomorrow. Don't worry, so many people have no issues, I'm certain you won't regret it (Even though sometimes you do have moments where you do lol)

    Post Surgery Pain

Hi there. I hope your managing ok, I find that sitting up really straight and tall and taking deep breaths when your having the pain helps. I'm 2 and a half weeks out and am not on pain meds but still get discomfort. Especially when drinking or trying to eat
  16. Thanks Kate, have an appt with my GP tomorrow but am just feeling so blah today I'd hoped someone would tell me it's been the same for them and it will get better. Think I'll just stick to my high protein drinks until it settles a bit more and stop trying the soups etc for a bit.
  17. I have the exact same issue and I'm 18 days post op, and if I am not able to get the wind up, Ohhh the pain! Good luck, hope yours resolves itself quickly

    Stomach tightness

Hello there, I am 18 days post op and it definitely feels different but I wouldn't say tight. I feel it when I breathe in too deeply etc. Nothing painful, just different.
