    Water

I was told to drink as much water as I want. It sounds like they got mixed up when they gave you your directions. I would check again with them to. Good luck to you.
  2. To be honest I found both appointments very boring. The nutritionist went through all the healthy foods I should be eating. Well being over weight all my life and trying every diet I came accross I pretty much knew everything she went over. And the mental evaluation he just asked me some questions and signed off on my paper work. There was really nothing to it. Good luck to you.

    Hair loss

I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. I lost a lot of hair and it really scared me. I was also told it does not happen with this surgery. But it did. I waisted a lot of money on Biotin and vitamins. I was told it just has to run its coarse. Well it did and now it has stopped falling out and new hair is coming in quick. So I know it is really scary but it will come back. Good luck to you and remember it is temerary.
  4. My husband and both of my boys are sick and throwing up like crazy. I have some of those suppositories that make you not get so sick. I am trying to figure out if I should go ahead and use one now or wait to see if I get sick. Any suggestions? I am so scared to throw up. I dont want my band to slip or anything.
  5. I started out weighing 299 and wearing a size 28.At my highest I was 316. I am now 199 and wear a size 18/20. I had no complicatioins and insurance approved me in about 2 weeks. I had no problems because of my weight other then always aching and I could not play with my boys like I wanted to. Now I can go to the playground and go down the slide with them. I feel like a kid and I love it. I would not go back and change the fact that I was fat because it made me who I am now. But boy do I wish I could have had this surgery sooner. I love my band sooooooo much!
  6. I lost about 50% of my hair. I had really thick hair but now it is pretty thin. I can see my scalp. But it is growing back like crazy. When I went to get my hair cut she parted it down the middle and I had a little mohawk going down the middle with all the new little hairs. She had to put some oil in it to make it go down. I also waisted a lot of money trying to get it to stop falling out and grow back. But my Dr was right and said it just takes time. I am so sorry for those of you who have not grown it back yet. I hope you find something that works for you. I know how important our hair is to us. Good luck.

    Has anyone NOT Pb'd?

I was banded in January 06. I have not yet PBd. I am scared of it to. I just stick to my 4 ounces and I think I will be ok.
  8. Well I weighed this morning and I hit 199 pounds. That means I have lost 100 pounds and I am also under 200 for the first time since I was about 15 years old. It does not seem real to me. I just cant believe it. My Dr said I wouldnt even qualify for the surgery now. I am so excited that I want to tell everyone I see that I weigh 199 pounds. But that might seem weird to some. So I get to share it with all of you who have been there so much for me since my surgery. I love this site and I love my band.

    Sunsett 1 yr later

Congrats to you. I feel the same way. I feel like my band was a gift from god. When I first wanted it it was impossible because we could not afford payments or anything. Well when I called my Drs office and told them what insurance I had they told me they cover it. So without that I would not even have my band. I am one of the lucky ones when it comes to insurance. Now I am just enjoying the new me. And my husband is enjoying it to!

Help Help Help I Am Starvin

I remember feeling the same way. And no you dont feel this way after your banded. Being on a liquid diet is very hard. But it does get better. Just hang in there you will get through this and feel so much better inside and out soon. Good luck to you. And if your feeling weak you can send me a letter any time. I think it helps to talk to people who have went through the same thing.
  11. I am not diabetic. But I used to get light headed and feel weak ans shakie when I didnt eat. I have not felt that since I have had my band. I also have not thrown up yet. I know a lot of people do. I guess so far I have been lucky. Good luck to you.
  12. I have 2 pounds to go. I have been waking up every morning to see if I have hit 199. These 2 pounds are killing me. I hope I get to post soon saying I have done it. Wish me luck. I am going to try and eat very good today and tomorrow so I will reach this goal.

How long until the dreaded PB

I have been banded since January and I have not pbd yet. Not that I want to. But I can eat bread, steak or anything I want and it has never come back up. It makes me wonder if I am not tight enough. Maybe I need another fill. Are there others people like this. I have been told that if I can eat bread and meat ok that I need a fill. What do you think?

    Hair Loss

I had really thick hair also. I actually like it more now that it is thin. But I have tons of new hair coming in now. So pretty soon I will be dealing with the thickness again. But for now I have all these one inch hairs poking up every where. So it does come back. And I know what you mean about crying. My husband and 6 year old were tired of seeing hair everywhere. It was all over our floors and in the shower. I would clean them up every day. It was really pretty scary.

    Hair Loss

I started losing hair about 3 or 4 months out. I lost a lot of hair. I was really freaked out about it. But it did stop. Thank god! I kept thinking oh what a cruel joke. To finally lose weight and feel good about yourself and then lose your hair. I tried Nioxin, vitamins, shakes. None of them slowed it down. My Dr said it will stop and it did. So remember it is temperary.

    Always Cold...

I am always cold now. Since the day I was banded I have been. I was told it is because we are not eating as much so our bodies are not consantly burning the calories. I guess that means our bodies are not having to work so hard all the time. I have never really believed the thing about insulation because it is my skin that gets cold not whats inside. Just my opinion though. But I would much rather be cold then hot so its a plus for me.
  17. I love to shop at Fashion Bug. They have really good sales and clearence. You can go on their web site if you dont have one near by. I have felt the same way. Soon you will look back at this and be so much happier. Good luck.

    What is for lunch?

I had Dominos BBQ chicken wings. Yum!
  19. My Dr. had me keep them on untill they fell off on thier own. It took a couple weeks and I kind of helped them along in the end. They were lokking really gross so I knew it was time.

    Are you hungry/shaky?

Ditto for me. I used to get shaky and feel very light headed when I was hungry. I dont ever get that hungry anymore. But when I am hungry I dont get that feeling anymore.
  21. I was never told no caffeine. I drink unsweet tea all day. I would hate to go without it.

    Can't make up my mind!!!

I remember feeling the same way. I have had my band since January and can not imagine being without it now. I will just tell you some of my ups and downs. I feel soooo much better about myself now and I am healthier and can do so much more then I could before. My relationship with my husband is better then ever because I am not miserable with myself anymore. I can also play on the play ground with my two little ones now and they love it. I got to go down the slide this weekend. I have not done that since I was a kid and it was such an awesome feeling. I feel like I have a whole new life. The down side is that I still love sweets but with the band I can control myself easier and I never could have lost this much weight without my band. So the down side is that I cant eat all the crap that I could before. But that is what got me into this mess in the first place so I guess thats also good. I guess I dont have anything negative to say about it. But I do still occasionally struggle. But it is possible to lose now. Good luck to you on your decision.
  23. I have United Health Care. They paid for my surgery. But they will not pay for fills. My Dr. includes all your fills for the first year. I am trying to get my band adjusted just right so I wont have to pay for any. But I thought UHC was great and worked really fast for me. Good luck.

    I paid to be tortured

Oh my gosh! That was funny. I was picturing it in my head and understand where your coming from. I have started fast walking now also. I am in no shape to get on all those machines yet. Although one day I will be there. Good luck to you.

    doctors push for GBypass

My Dr. used to do the bypass surgery. He now only does the lap band. I went to my primary care Dr. before my surgery and he had a lot of great things to say about the band. I have lost a cousin to the bypass and have 2 friends who have had it. I knew it was not for me. I have 2 little ones and I didnt want to take a chance in having complications. I am way to busy with them to always have to worry about my health. This was just my opinion. Good luck to you.
