Mine have deffinitly gotton smaller. I am thinking about having them replaced soon. I went from a D cup to a B. But its all worth it for me. I can wear padded bras if I need to.

I had a fill on Wednesday and the Dr said that my port is tilted to the left. I was wondering if any of you have had this problem. Do you think that it could flip all the way over? And if it did. What do they do for that? Sorry I have so many questions. I know I should have asked him. It seems like I never think of what to ask until I am home from the office. I just keep wondering if it flips will insurance cover having it moved.
-
He was not to concerned. He said a lot of peoples tilt after a big weight loss. He gave me my fill with no problem. I am just worried about it flipping over. Luckily this last fill might have been it for me. At least for a while anyways. Oh and Missy C. I could not feel my port at all until about 2 months ago. So dont worry yet. I know when I lay on my back and lift up like I am doing a sit up it pops up a lot more. I also heard that if it flips it is a very minor procedure done in the Drs office. Good luck to you.

That is my only bad side affect to having the band. I still get it a couple times a month. I was told it is gas that touches a nerve behind your stomach and causes pain in your shoulder. I know the only thing that makes it any better for me is to lay on my left side. Sometimes I can actually hear and feel a huge gas bubble move around in there and then it finally comes out and I feel relief. Hope thats not to much info. It just really helps me. I sometimes have to move from side to side and work it out of there. The bad thing is when we are out with people and I am in pain and cant do anything for it. That happened last night and I was so happy to get home. Good luck to you. I know its annoying.

I was also confused on what to do. I was 319 before I had my lap band. And I love my sweets. But I have a couple of friends who had Gastric Bypass done and I knew it was not for me. I dont know if that is the same thing you are looking into or not. But I know for me the band was the best choice. I am losing slowely now. But I have had no complications and feel better then ever. I just did not want to have to deal with all the side effects and complications that can come from the other surgery. But it is a very important decision. Good luck to you on what ever you choose.

My Dr. has used something to numb me every time. I think I would rather have it that way.

What would the boy/girl you were at 18... think of the MAN/WOMAN you are today?
JJB replied to Telly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My 18 year old self would be shocked. I weigh less now then I did then and I finally feel comfortable with myself. I dont have to hide behind all black clothing and make my parents worry because I am so deppressed. I would not be surprised by my husband. I met him at 16 and fell head over heals in love. It was a rough ride though. It took a while for him to totally commit. But we have been married now for 10 years and have two awesome little boys. So I think my 18 year old self would be very pleased with how things turned out. I know I am! -
Oh great. I chew gum every day. I never really thought about what would happen if I swallowed it. Im thinking that would not be good though. I use it to fight my sugar cravings. I guess I have to find something else now.

Thanks for sharing. Its nice to hear of someone being banded that long.

I used it when I first started losing my hair. I didnt notice any difference at all. My hair was falling out like crazy. I also took in more protien and waisted a lot of money on vitamins that never helped. My Dr. had told me that it just takes time and now I have seen that. My hair is thinner now. But it is no longer falling out and is growing back quickly. I have new hairs poking up every where. So in my opinion it just takes time. Good luck to you.

I also love left overs. When we go to Chilli's I can get the chicken crispers and take home enough left overs for two meals. I guess in some ways you get more for your money with the band. I know we save a lot of money in food now. :-)

I always tell the waitress/waiter that I had surgery and can only eat 4 ounces of food. I have ever had anybody tell me I cant get order from the kids menu. And we eat out a lot. Most people just say thats its not a problem. I cant see paying all that money when we cant even eat half of an adult meal. Jennifer

Thanksgiving Is Depressing For Me!!!!!!!!!!!
JJB replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know it is really hard missing out on all the holiday meals. But it will be so worth it. I sat down to eat today and could only eat about 1/2 of a small plate of food. I thought one of the biggest things I am thankful for this year is my band. Normally I would have eaten like a pig all day long. I could not even eat a whole piece of pie. I do not make very good decisioins on what I eat. But I deffinitly cant pig out like I used to. So hang in there and remember this is your last holiday being over weight. Next year you will be a new peson on the outside and feel like a new person on the inside. Oh and the gas does go away. But man does it hurt while it is there. Maybe you should take some pain meds just to get a brake from it for a while. Good luck to you on your journey. -
I have been having a pain on my right side below my rib cage. It is never really bad because it comes and goes so quick. Its like a quick stabbing pain. And it happens every few minutes. It's been going on for two days now. No other symptoms. Has anyone had this? Do you think it could be gallbladder pain? Just wanting some other opions. It's kind of freaking me out.

Never, Never, Never. I never ever want to be without my band. I love it!!!!!

What do you say when you get THAT question??
JJB replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can just say that you are weighing your food now so that you know your not over eating and getting to many calories.I am very open about my band. I know a lot of people are against any kind of weight loss surgery. Mostly because they have not read up on lap band. But I tell people because I want people to know how I did it. I want people to know how much I love the band and how I have not had any side affects. I just hope it helps someone else make the choice. But people can be very critical. Good luck to you on keeping it a secret. -
I was also consumed by my weight. I would wake in the morning thinking about it and fall asleep at night thinking about it. Well it was either that or food. But now my addiction is being busy all the time. I have so much energy now.I am always waking up and finding a new project to do on my house. I also love going out with friends now. My husband loves it because I was a hermit crab and didnt want people to see me. Now I am the one always saying lets go. So your new thing will be thinking of fun things to do and doing things that you have been holding back on. Its great. I love my life so much since my band. I just hope my mind can keep up with my new energy level.

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY

I hope this works. -
I will be coming up on my one year anniversay of my band. My fills are free for the first year so I am trying to decide if I should get one more. My question is. Where do you feel your restriction? I feel it in my esophogus. It usually is in my first bite and after that goes down I can eat more. I can eat a lot more then I should. I dont want to get another fill if it will make my esphogus tighter. Sometimes I feel full. But mostly I stop because of the pain in my chest. Should I try one more and if it gets to tight I can get some taken out? I would really like to feel fullness and then stop eating. What do you think?
-
I have deffinitly hit a plateau. But I know it is because I am eating to much. Im sure a fill would help but I dont know if it would make my esophogus feel tighter. I really want to feel it in my stomach instead.

Has the lapband changed your life in the way you thought it would?
JJB replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band changed my life for the better. I always knew I was missing out on things because of my weight. But I never knew how much it would make my life easier and a lot happier. I always said I felt like a prisoner in my own body and now I feel comfortable in my own skin. I no longer hold my head down when I go somewhere. I can move and walk around without getting out of breath or having to take breaks. I could go on and on. But it has changed me for the better and it has made my relationships a lot better because I am happy with myself and that reflects on my marriage and other areas. Lets face it if your not happy with yourself your not going to be very happy in your relationships. This is just my opinion. Good luck to you. Im sure you will love it to. -
I also need to lose 30 more pounds. Maybe we can try and do it together. I have gotton off track and need a boost to. I know that if I would measure my 3 meals a day and stick to that like I did in the beggining I would have no problem losing again. I have not lost any weight in 1 month. But I have not gained either. YEA!!! I am going to start weighing my food today and stick to my 3 meals with no snacks in between. Man thats hard. Good luck to you.

I eat sweets every day and have not experienced this. I would be happy to have it though considering sweets are my addiction. Maybe it would slow me down on them some.

I weigh myself every day. It does help me so I know when I need to buckle down and do good. I guess everyone is different though.
