Hopefully not long. I am so tired of having hair every where. Even my 6 year old has complained about it all over the bathroom floor. Well im done complaining for the night. Thanks again.

I know the hair thing is very scary. I went to Sally Beauty Supply store on Friday and bought a kit for thinning hair. It is called Nioxin and I have heard really great things about it. Im not sure if I believe all the stuff about protien and vitamins. I am getting enough of both and it has not made any difference. I really think it is just from the weight loss its self. I can think of a few people I know that only eat one meal a day and live pretty unhealthy lives. But they have nice thick hair. I have lost about half of mine but I do think it is slowing down a little. I take a biotin pill every day and now use this shampoo treatment daily. I hope it works because I am going broke trying all this new stuff. Any ways try not to freak out to much Im sure it is temperary. Keep us informed on how your doing. I know that talking to people on this site has really been helping me not get so depressed. Good luck to you. Jennifer

Thank you. It really does help to have a place where everyone is understanding. I just cant believe I finally start feeling comfortable with myself and now I have to worry about this. I am going to try and be more positive though. I feel guilty worrying about it. I should be thanking god that I am not losing it because of chemo or anything. My aunt is going through that now and I feel horrible for even feeling sorry for myself. I guess I just wish I would have been told that this can happen. I had asked about it and was told that this does not happen with the band.

I am having a protien shake every night. I got this powder mix from GNC. And I have been having fish or chicken two times a day. I just cant figure out what to do. I am taking Biotin and a multi vitamin plus a vitamin for hair, nails and skin. This is all what they gave me at GNC. But I have noticed no difference. Any suggestions are appreciated. If it keeps on for another week or so I will have to get some kind of hair piece. I have also called my dermitologist and they said it is from losing 50 pounds in such short time and it should stop. We will see. Thanks for writing back though. Its nice to talk about it. My husband is sick of hearing about it. Its not his hair falling out though. Jennifer

I was banded on Jan 24th. Weight loss has been good. But now my hair is falling out. I have lost about half of it. Luckily I had thick hair but I am so stressed out wondering when it will stop. I had blood work and everyhting was fine. And I am taking all my vitamins and protien. Guess I just have to wait it out and hopefully it will stop. Sorry to go on and on its just really freaking me out. Jennifer

I had my surgery on Jan 24th and I was hungry the day after. Once you get a fill you will feel better. And just because you feel hungry doesnt mean you can eat a lot. You will find out when you are aloud to eat solides that it wont take mych to fill you up. Good luck on your new journey. I love my band and im sure you will to. Jennifer

Did any bandsters eat too much Easter candy?
JJB replied to Angels's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have two little boys and between the Easter Bunny and family they both got 3 Easter baskets. So I had a lot of candy left and yes I did overeat it. So I sent my husband to work Tuesday with a bag full of candy. I have to get it out of my house or it will be eaten. I just make sure there is nothing there when I am feeling weak. So make sure you get rid of it. Good luck. Jennifer -
I have been banded since Jan 24th of this year. I odnt really feel my band yet. But I need another fill. I do not over eat though. I guess just knowing it is there and that if I do over eat I might get sick helps me. Im a baby when it comes to getting sick. I do feel the port every once and a while. If I move the wrong way. It feels like its in the muscle or something. Nothing to bad though. I hope I have answered your questions. Maybe after my next fill I can help more about feeling the band. Good luck to you. JJB

I had the same problem after my surgery for a while. And I notice now that if I dont eat for a while it gets bad again. Not sure what causes it but I guess it is normal. I always carry mints or gum with me now. Congrats on your new band and good luck to you. JJB

I had pain in that area for a little while after surgery. I really think it was the muscle they had to go through. I just recently moved the wrong way while holding my 2 year old and it felt like I hurt that muscle again. It was soe for about two days and went away again. Dont worry it will get better. Your muscle just has to heal. Good luck to you. JJB

I had my band placed on January 24th of this year. I also went through a time before where I would cry and I actually got a little depressed. I think I was disappointed in myself for getting to the point where I needed surgery. And I was upset about having to let go of my favorite thing FOOD. But now the only regret I have is that I did not do it sooner. I feel so much healthier and happier then I have in years. I LOVE my band and this has been a lot easier then I thought it was. Everyone is different but for me it was the thought that I have went through all this so I am not going to mess it up. Good luck to you on this new start.

My mom had the lap band done about a month before me. It took her a while to get her hunger back and it is still very little. Me on the other hand. I was starving. She has not needed a fill and I have had two. Just goes to show you everyone is so different. I would love to not have hunger so much. But it is really weird how I can handle it now and not over do it compared to before surgery and I would eat everything. I love my band. It is one of the best things I have ever done.

I was starving after my surgery. My Dr. didnt put a fill in untill 6 weeks later. But when I was able to start eating regular food the hunger was a lot better. But I can remember hoping the hunger would not last. I have had two fills now and I think I might need another one. But the hunger is deffinitly not as bad as in the beginning. Good luck to you.

Today I went for my second fill and the Dr. told me that I had lost a little fluid. He says this is common with first time fills and there may have been an air bubble or something. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I have read of people having leaks in their port. I am a natural worrier so i just wanted to see if anyone else has heard of this. Jen

I was banded on Jan 24th of this year. I felt the same way for about 5 or 6 weeks. I had a lot of pain in the port area. Now I finally feel totally normal. I did get a little upset in the beggining wondering if that feeling was going to last forever. But now I feel better then I have in years. Good luck. Jennifer

I am also a little uncomfortable with the complaments. I am happy that people are noticing. But I dont know what to say. Should I just say thanks or just smile. Im really not used to attention. I normaly walk through the store with my head down feeling like if I dont look at people maybe they wont see me. I have noticed now that I am smiling at people and feeling a lot better. I have lost 36 lbs. I cant imagine losing 50 or more. Its very exciting.

Congrats and best wishes to both of you. It's so EXCITING!!!!!

I was feeling the same way. I would eat and I didnt feel full but I would get hungry in about an hour. It actually scared me to know that I could still over eat if I had a weak moment. I went yesterday for my first fill and I am really feeling better just knowing that there will be more restriction. The great thing about this band is if you get a fill and it seems like your to tight. You can get some taken out. I was so scared of getting a fill but there was nothing to it. I really worried for nothing. So just make sure you get one if you need.

I dont measure with a cup. I just weigh everything. My Dr. has you do it that way. So I took all the meat off the chicken and weighed it with my potatoes. I guess you could smush it into a cup. Or maybe measure out 1/2 cup of chicken meat and then 1/2 cup of the potatoes. I know there is a lot to learn. It's like learning how to eat for the first time or something. I had a rough couple of weeks in the beginning because I was eating a little to fast and probably not chewing well enough. But my mom had this surgery in December and told me to slow down some and now I have had no problems for days. Those mushies sure do get boring though dont they. Keep in touch and let me know how your doing.
