I was banded on January 24th of this year and have done great until about 2 weeks ago. I have started picking at food and munching in between meals. I am so dissapointed in myself and am scared that I will go back to my old habits. I am going for a fill next week because I am still hungry after my four ounces. I was wondering if you guys think a fill will help with my snacking at all. I know it is a mental thing. And I think the harder I am on myself the worse it gets. I am going to start listing everything that I eat tomorrow on the what we eat page. I guess I just get scared because I never want to go back to the old me. I love my band and the way I feel since I have lost weight. My husband does not understand the food addiction thing so I just wanted to talk to others who know what I am talking about. But I am starting over tomorrow!!! And I will be back on track. Thanks for listening. I love this site.

I was just wondering how much your Dr. has you eating. I was told to eat 4 ounces 3 times a day with no snacks in between. Just wanted to see what the normal amount is for everyone. Thanks.

I am going to make up a new post to see how much other people are eating. I am really curious to see now.

My Dr. has you eat 4 ounces 3 times a day. With no snacks in between. He doesnt do the bypass surgery. My mom had the surgery in November and that was what she was instructed to do also. I have been sticking to that at meal time and then about an hour after I just get this urge to have something sweet. Its really hard to because my kids and husband always have sweets around. This will be my fourth fill. I have 2and a half cc in my band. I will be happy when I get more restriction. Now I am wondering what everyone else is being told to eat. Maybe 4 ounces is not enough. I will talk to him when I go for my fill.

I was told to only eat 4 ounces. I dont think I could stick to 2 ounces. My stomch would be growling to. Good luck to you.

I agree. They are awesome. I have always loved them. But I like them when the light is on so they are warm and soft. Oh man now I am going to be thinking about them all night. LOL

Lap Band ladies....does this make you hate your boobs??
JJB replied to MellyBelle's topic in The Gals' Room
I have lost 69 pounds and have lost a lot of my boobs. I am not bothered because I can hide the fact that I have small or saggy breast but I couldnt hide the fact that I was over weight. I will deffinitly be looking into a breast job next year. So for me it really did affect them but it feels so good being thinner that I dont care. I will probably buy some inserts for now and hope they dont fall out at the beach. LOL -
I also get shoulder pain. It happens jus about every day. Sometimes laying on my left side makes it go away. But most of the time I just have to deal with it. I have tryed meds and nothing helps. Sorry your having this. I know it is very painfull at times. Good luck and hopefully it will go away soon.

I have United Health Care and they were billes 22,000. I had to pay 3,700 out of pocket. I had to stay over night also.

I was just wanting to see if any one was able to get insurance to pay for there tummy tuck. I still have a ways to go but deffinitly am interested in this. A plastic surgeon spoke in our last support group and said that insurance does not cover it. But I have heard different things. What was your experience? I have United Health Care now but I have the option to change to Health First for next year. I am going to try and see if either of them cover it. Any input would be great.

Thank you for the info. I will start working on this when I get about 30 pounds away from my goal weight since it will probably take a while.

A lot of people get yeast infections from it hanhing there. And I know that I have had a problem for about a year with my hip hurting from the weight of it hanging. A friend of mine had one two years ago and her insurnace did pay for it. She had lost 200 pounds and the crease skin opened up so it was considerd a medical problem. You can get an infection bad enough that it affects your blood. So that is why I wanted to see how often it is covered.

Do any of you get pain in the back of your throat? When I drink something to fast that is cold or sometimes just for no reason my throat feels a little swollen in the back. I want to get a fill but I dont want to irritate it more. Just wanted to see if this is normal.

Good for you. And dont you love buying new clothes that you actually like? I love clothes shopping now. It is my new addiction. Hubby isnt to happy about that though.LOL

I have been taking the pills from GNC for hair, nails and skin. You can buy a pill crusher and put them in a shake or something. I was making a protien shake every night and putting all my vitamins in it. I have a hard time with the tast of the shake though so I have not had one lately. I guess I need to work on the flavor some. Good luck to you.

I know I have read threads on this before. But I just really need to talk. I have lost sooo much hair. Luckily I started out with a lot. But now it is becoming noticable. I cant beleive that I lost a good amount of weight and was finally feeling good about myself and now I have to worry about this. Its like a bad joke or something. I am watching my protein and have been taking bioten but it has not made a difference. If anyone has any ideas I will try anything. I have even quit styling my hair so I dont have to watch it all fall out. It makes me depressed. Sorry to go on and on but nobody I can talk to understands. JJB

I have started parting mine to the side instead of in the center. It looks a little better that way. My bangs keep getting to thin so I keep adding more to them. Hey at least I am saving money on shampoo and conditioner. It deffinitly takes a lot less.

I know how you feel about the hair loss. It really does make me feel sick when it is falling out all day. My husband keeps getting annoyed because it is all over the house. Even when I do laundry it is in my lint holder thing. I am just trying to stay positive and not worry because I dont want to make it worse. But like I said before it really seems like a horrible joke. I finally am starting to feel good about myself and now have to worry about something else. I bought the flax oil and it was horrible. So now I am just taking my multi vit. and biotin. If you need to talk about it I am here. I think it helps to talk to people who are going through the same thing. Take care and good luck. Jennifer

I was told the same thing. But I have been losing a lot of hair for about 1 month. I have been told that no one has ever went bald from it though. I actually like my hair more now then I did before. It was really thick and out of control. But I would like to stop losing now before it is to thin. Cindy Cam I would not worry to much about it. It does not seem to happen to a lot of people. Just make sure you take your vitamins and ask your Dr. about it. Although I have noticed its not a subject that they like to talk about. I have not had one regret about my band. Before my surgery every day was a chore trying to find something to wear and feeling very unhealthy. Now I am excited to get ready to go because I have so many choices in clothes and I feel sooooo much better. I would not change it for the world. The hair thing is really hard to deal with considering it was the only thing I ever got complamented on. But it will grow back. Good luck to you. Its so exciting!

I know that for me water makes a huge difference. If I dont drink enough I dont lose. Im not sure why. But it deffinitly makes the difference. Good luck to you.
-
Thanks I will get some tomorrow. I have quit using the shampoo because I felt like I started losing more hair. Maybe it was my imagination but it seemed to be getting worse with it. Thanks again.
-
I would make sure and start taking a hair, nail and skin vitamin and also a biotin each day. A lot of people lose hair at first because of the quick weight loss. I am taking them now but I have heard a lot of people say they started them before surgery. I wish I would have. You can get both of those at Walmart for pretty cheap. Good luck to you on your surgery. You will LOVE you band. I know I am happier now then I have been in years.

Insurance approved me in December so I made my appointment for as soon as I couild. It was cool how it worked out being in Jan though. It was a new start for me. I agree there has to be more Jan bandsters. If you look at other months they are packed. Maybe a lot of people wait until a while after Christmas for money reasons. Oh and my hair loss is till crazy but my weight loss has slowed down for a week. It is like a pattern. I lose a couple pounds and then it stops for a few days and then does the same thing again. Im not bothered though. As long as im not gaining. I still feel better then I have in years.
