Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!! Did anyone get any good shopping deals? I tried to focus on shopping for my kids instead of all the goodies on Thanksgiving! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

She was super nice. She told me I can call weekly to see if I can snag a cancellation. She said "Persistence is your friend, don't be afraid to call weekly." She felt bad. Said the program is extremely popular right now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Sigh....I've been looking forward to the call since Wednesday to schedule my first consultation. Kept telling myself to be patient. Well, I received a call from "Unknown" and didn't answer because, well, it's Unknown! It was the clinic!! Lesson learned. I'll be answering ALL calls from now on!
  6. They did leave me a call back number. The scheduling lady is super nice. I'll be calling her first thing in the morning. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

U of I was the most recommended by my insurance. According to my insurance company, they have paid for 70 WLS there within the last 12 months. As busy as they are though, I worry how long the process will take? I know, I am inpatient LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Iowa sleevers?

Hi fellow Iowans! I just read this entire thread to get to know you all I'm in Burlington - I'm in the wee early stages of this journey. I've submitted my questionnaire to U of I and am waiting back to be approved for a consultation. I've struggled with my weight ever since having my son 13 years ago. Been on/off WW umpteen times. Lost and gained the same 20 lbs over and over and gained some more. My relationship with food is definitely love/hate. I'm 34yo. 5'1" and 229 right now. BMI of 43. I'm worried they won't see me for some reason. I have had issues for the last 2 years that - in hindsight - can be majorly attributed to my weight. Not sure if it will be enough for me to get approved for consultation, though? I have no idea what to expect. I just know - I need help. I need accountability. I can do this - but the thought of doing it on my own is just daunting. Mindi - so happy you got approved and can't wait to hear about your success. Lucky, Fran, and Siri - I love how y'all do not sugar coat this. Sounds like it is what we make it, in a way, too. Nana - can't wait to hear about your approval. Hope I can join the Iowans group! We need all the support we can get. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Now that is interesting! I will have to remember this lol ...sort of funny now that you know what it is!

Hello New to the group question

Your co-worker is a meanie. Don't let them bother you. lol
  20. Congratulations! That's how I feel too - my family deserves to have a mom/wife that isn't tired all the time, can get up and do things with them without feeling blah, and will live longer and be here for them!
  21. I feel the same way - I haven't had my consultation yet. Just in the beginning phases of finding out what the options are and how to get started. I sent my health/weight history questionnaire in to the office and am waiting to hear back for my consultation appointment. (I guess that's how you get in?) Part of me feels like they will tell me - are you serious? Diet and exercise, just do it. I'll be looking foward to hearing how your consult went!! Good luck!
