  1. I'm still pre-op, cruising the post-op forum for "research" and being nosey Just reading your post makes me all that more excited to have such a problem as this lol. Right now - my biggest problem is the drawers full of jeans I just can't wait to wear because they are all TOO SMALL! I am hoping I can shop in my own closet lol

    Growing impatient

I left my doctors office Friday and they are submitting to the insurance, too. Now, I've been waiting just since Friday and I'm on pins and needles. If I have to go 3 weeks with no word, I might go bonkers! Hang in there!! Good luck!

    Waiting game...

Well...the surgeon's office is submitting to the insurance today. They said insurance has 15 days to respond. Will be the longest days of my life! lol

    Any Iowa sleevers?

Hi All! My consultation was a success! I'm officially on my journey, now. 3 months of visits and food/exercise journal is what I have to keep. I did find out some great news - no protein shakes required for the program! Omg. I'm so relieved. I do not like this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Iowa sleevers?

I had my first consultation this morning. Met with the nurse practitioner, the surgeon, and had my first "visit" (class) with the dietician. What a long morning! But, I have answers to all my questions and now my journey begins! One thing I am very excited about - the program where I'm going does not include ONE Protein shake! I'm so relieved. All real foods and milks for Proteins after surgery. I think this will be much easier for me to do than trying to drink Protein shakes. Hope you are having a smooth pre-op diet, still, Mandi! Nice to "meet" you @@tdia13 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery 11/25 any advice?!

Congratulations! How are you doing?I am doing good! I expected the worse time ever but no pain, been popping every day. Water and Protein taste fine just have to sip all day to get it in. Energy has been good. A ittle gas with plain water but all manageable. I have been working from home since Wednesday. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App Boy, I hope mine goes that well if I get approved! ???? Happy for you!! Go girl! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Iowa sleevers?

Mindi! Hope your liquid diet goes fast for you! Hi Pam! I'm Jeanie from Burlington. Y'all will not believe this - the clinic actually had to move my appointment from December BACK to APRIL. I was so bummed (again!) and then yesterday, the guy who had mistakenly told me I could come in December, called to tell me there was a cancellation THIS FRIDAY. TOMORROW!!! I get to go have my initial consult with the surgeon, see the nutritionist, and attend the seminar all tomorrow. So my journey begins My husband is trying to be supportive but he seems sort of worried about this all. He is a very good guy and says if this is something I want then he will support me any way he can but he said he worries if something bad happens. I'm not sure what to say to that. I just told him - the risks of me staying this big far outweighs the risks of surgery. That seemed to pacify him for now. ***Sigh. Emotional rollercoaster. Hope you are all having a nice Thursday evening. I'm missing the good shows on ABC tonight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Psyc evaul

I've been wondering this myself. Obviously, I want to be honest but I'm afraid I'll say the wrong thing and won't get approved. I mean, I didn't get in the shape I'm in with my weight without having issues surrounding food. I want to have a positive outlook and my husband is WAY more supportive than I thought he would be. He's even wanting to go with me to my first consultation appointment, which shocked me! Anyone know what you SHOULD DEFINITELY NOT SAY? Or is that cheating?

    Questions for your surgeon

This is a great list!! I hadn't thought of many of these! I will try not to repeat any from prior replies in this post, but here are some of mine. I don't go until 12/23 so I'm still compiling my list. I know a LOT of these are answered on a personal basis here on the forum but as many people say - every program/clinic/surgeon/insurance/patient is different so it's best to ASK how these apply to YOU so you aren't sorry later after making assumptions. Pre-Op How much weight will I be expected to lose before surgery? What if I lose more than 11lbs on my pre-op plan making my BMI less than 40? What are the requirements to be approved? sleep study? Cardiac tests? Psychiatrist? Nutritionist? Based on my height/weight/age, do you think I'll have extra skin to remove after? Post-Op Can my spouse stay with me after surgery? What am I allowed to bring to the hospital with me? Any suggestions for what I SHOULD bring? How many follow-up visits will I have after surgery and how often? What if I become pregnant after surgery - risks for baby and me? This is all I can think of for now. I'm sure my surgeon will LOVE me
