    Fills after changing insurance

Seems like no one really knows the answer to this! :rolleyes2:
  2. Hello all....maybe someone can answer my question. I am planning on being banded toward the end of the summer after i finish my 6 month supervised weight loss plan. My current insurance covers the procedure. If in the future I switch jobs and change insurance will the new insurance cover the upkeep such as fills and emergency removal (god forbid!)? Im sure it varies by insurance, but would the lap band be considered a "pre-existing condition" of sorts?? It would just really suck to have to start paying out of pocket if I ever change jobs. Thanks in advance for any responses!

    Hello from New York!

I am doing my 6 months right now and hope to have the surgery with Dr. Fielding in Aug or September (depending on how long my insurance takes). Just curious as to why you had to have a stress test?? (if you dont mind sharing) My BMI is around 48 and i have high insulin levels, PCOS, high cholesterol, and probably a sleep apnea (though i am still waiting to get in to do the sleep study). My PCP doesnt forsee any approval problems (i have Cigna) but I guess you never know. Good luck to you all in your journey. I know I cant wait!

    Plastic Surgery Poll

K....Question....I am doing my 6 months medically supervised weight loss right now and plan to be banded around the beginning of September sometime. I am 26 years old and have about 125 lbs to lose. I hold my weight pretty well over all my body, kind of have a tummy, some arm flab, the usual somewhat ravaged body from being overweight, but i still have an hourglass figure and got lucky that I never looked my weight. Was wondering if those of you who are further along in your journey and close to my same stats find that you will need tt/lipo/lifts/nips/tucks after you hit your goal. I know it differs from person to person, i know they say its more likely that your skin will shrink back if you are younger and you carry your weight all over, but is this a complete lie? Curious to know what you all have experienced. Thanks!

    Cigna

Wow! I have Cigna and am having to pay close to $600 between the Psych and the Nutritionist because NYU requires those 2 items paid out of pocket. How did you go about getting partially refunded from your insurance company for those?? Im totally gonna try it!

    Plastic Surgery Poll

Well...you look wonderful. I understand though that when you look at yourself, especially naked, in front of a mirror, it is hard not to see the flaws. I guess I will just take it one day at a time and see if i need PS in the end. Maybe ill get lucky! Hah!

    Confused about what Cigna requires.

I have Cigna and they do require 6 months medically supervised weight loss, plus I believe medical records proving your weight for at least a year. I am currently completing my 6 months and am hoping to be banded sometime late aug/early sept. Fingers crossed!

    Hi

I live in Tarrytown and work in the city. Really liked Dr. Fielding after the meeting at NYU and am looking forward to having the surgery, hopefully toward the end of the summer.

    Hi

I live in Westchester too and am in my 6 month medically supervised weight loss period. I am also looking into having Dr. Fielding do my surgery. I cant really answer any of your questions, but I figure its always good to know someone else in your area and situation. Good luck with everything!
