Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Di4AU replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, Judi! I'm sure after surgery I'll be asking for scads of tips. I'm using Dr. Schmitt in Birmingham. I have a girl in my office, that was banded Friday. She's my guinea pig! But, it's nice to know there's someone else right up the road when I scream for help!!!:biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: -

Hi Judie! I'm in Sylacauga, AL!!! We have an Alabama forum too, Alabama Local Lap-Band Support - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support . Who's your doctor? Sounds like you're doing great. And what a wonderful quote you found. It really fits here. I know I have found everyone here to be so inspirational. So many new friends :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: -
That is GREAT NEWS! Now I can stop holding my breath when I see you've posted!! Congrats on your Derby winnings. I usually make a big deal of Derby Day, but we both have a terrible case of the crud. I did watch and cried, which of course stopped my head up even more. I must get healthy before May 22nd! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow and know that you'll finally get to breathe that sigh of relief!

LOL! Hey, I know my mind is SO concentrating on surgery, it's hard to keep anything straight in there! 17 days!!!!
-
I live in Sylacauga, but my husband is originally from Altoona/Snead. My step-son and daughter-in-law went to school at Susan Moore. They're about your age. I hope to be at the next meeting. I've been to the last two and really enjoyed them. I especially like to hear from the people who have been banded recently. Hopefully, next meeting, you'll be one of them!
-
Actually, it's AU, Auburn University. :biggrin2:
-
That is great news! Hopefully they wouldn't have monkeyed with the schedule until Monday and you're still on. And where in the world do you live? I, who is not even from Alabama originally, know people from Snead and thereabouts, LOL.

Oh, Shawna. I'm so sorry . I know you are so frustrated, just know we're behind you! Just keep thinking of the goal, all of this will be behind you soon. Easier said than done, I know, but it's all I can offer at this point .... Just heard from Karen's husband, they are on the way home. He said she's getting around very well, but she's a little nauseous. That's what scares me the most! Last time I was put under, I was extremely nauseous. I thought they had stuff for that these days. Oh, well.....
-
I was hoping we were going to be "glued"!

Come on in!!!!:biggrin2: We only have 20 days!!!! WoooHooo! A co-worker of mine had her surgery this morning and I think she was a bit nervous, too. Everything went fine in surgery and I'm waiting to hear from her husband about how she feels!
-
Karen, my co-worker (and LBT lurker) had her surgery this morning. Her husband called me about 8:15 and said Dr. Schmitt had just told him she was out of surgery and everything went just fine :biggrin2::biggrin2:. They were going to let him go back to recovery as soon as she was awake. They had to be there at 5:15 this morning, so a pretty quick turn around! I'm so proud of her, she was a little nervous I think. She's the one who's been researching weight loss surgery for several years, now. She got me on this path and I have her to thank. I am so glad we're both doing something good for our health!
-
Geeze Louise! Surely to goodness everyone is on the same page now and will get this straightened out for you!!! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping all goes well. Keep us posted!
-
Somehow, I feel Neaomi is going to be the hero in all this . I assume you've told her the whole story, start to finish? Perhaps if you keep in contact with her, you'll find out if anyone at Dr. KS/MidSouth are actually doing anything about this. :cursing::huh2:
-
What the heck are you eating???? :smile2: Aren't you supposed to be on liquids?? :biggrin2:

In our support group, one of the gals who had surgery 5 years ago, said if she had to do it all over again, she would have worked her arms and inner thighs more! So, I've started on that NOW. -
Sylacauga, Alabama. :ohmy:WHERE????? :coolgleamA: Halfway between Birmingham and Montgomery!
-
Congrats! Your count down has officially begun! Save those kudos for a few weeks, I'll take them then.
-
Shawna, girl you are having a rough time! And I thought I had it bad dealing with Neaomi (who everybody else says is great!). I was beginning to think it was a sign. Really. I was so stressed out and angry and I cried and cried. And then, all of a sudden everything was right with the world again. I can certainly understand your frustration. I will do my best to send some positive energy your way :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:!!!!!!! You know, it might not be a bad idea, to fax exactly what you just wrote to Dr. Kim Schmitt (except the last part!). And just for the record, I found Mid-South to be the most disorganized, disinteresed bunch in the whole deal, so I would take what they have say with a grain of salt.
-
Shawna, I would call Dr. Kim Schmitt's office first thing this morning. I had problems with Mid-South, too. Surely, they can get this straightened out, so you can stay on schedule! Glad you had a nice vacation, you're pictures are GREAT! Wendy, I keep reading this is the day you should feel better. Do you???!!!!
-
Well, it sounds like you're all set! I do love the Shrinko de Mayo's name! I'm not on any pre-op diet, I guess you're looking at someone elses' ticker, but thanks anyway. I only have to do a two day liquid pre-op, but mostly liquid post op for 4-6 weeks. The forum problems have been driving me nuts, too! At least I have figured out what my new addiction is going to be :w00t: . I was literally MAD for the last couple of days, not able to pull it up.
-
:wink_smile:A co-worker is having the surgery as well and our husbands have been questioning our mood during the pre/post op liquid diets. I've told them it's probably best just to stay away. Fellow employees I've told, for their own safety, I'm keeping my office door locked. :biggrin2: And WELCOME TO MAY! (We have a May forum, come on over)
-
YES!!! I know you're excited and I hope you'll be a May Flower! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:
-
Sorry to see you go, but at least I'll see you over in "Fifties"!!! See you there.:biggrin2:
-
I'm the 22nd too!! I only have to do the liquid diet two days prior, but low fat/low carb two weeks before. However, it's pretty much all liquid for a month after. A girl here in my office is having the surgery as well (May 2) and she had her pre-op visit and nutrition class yesterday. I have been reading all the material they gave her and I'm really ready to go now!
-
I'm in Sylacauga, just up the road! I think you are probably right about knowing what they're doing. They do this all day long for a lot of people, we just think we're the only ones! What doctor did you settle with?
