How to get 64-70g of protein in?!
MowryRocks replied to Sleeved_G's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is what I did. -
Yeah. I really need to do something else. I have lots of "reasons" why I don't...lol
-
Just walking right now. I work full time and have a 2 hour commute both ways, so I just try to fit in as much walking as I can while I'm at work.

It went great! No complications except for trapped gas for a couple of days. It's been the best decision of my life. I feel like a different person. I love to be on the go. I have less fear about social situations. I'm more daring which I haven't yet decided if that is a pro or con. I walk about 5-7 miles per day, but I am looking to step up the activity in a different direction in a major way. What type of exercise do you prefer?

Down another 4lbs from last week. I am a measley 8lbs away from my halfway point. Going on vacay next week, would be thrilled to come back and find it miraculously gone.
-
I'm so happy for you and super encouraged. I am 15 weeks out and 67 down and cannot wait to get to the halfway point.

I agree with the other comment. One bite too many is painful with the sleeve. I can only imagine it would be worse with RNY or DS.

NOT the easy way out...

Too funny! I have not experienced a lot of comments like this yet, but I expect to start hearing them more and more once I get under 200. -

Considering Gastric Sleeve
MowryRocks replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for the response.I am scared right now, like really scared. I told the surgeon that I was terrified. I don't really want surgery, but I cannot remain this weight. It is literally killing me. My quality of life is very low. I can't do things with my kids. I am just so scared. I like what you said about the six months as an opportunity to get mentally prepared. Every step you take in the right direction today, leads you to a better tomorrow. I know you can do it. I know you can be successful because you are here every day for the support. When I first started, I did what I know I could do. Eliminated caffeine straight off the bat and put myself on a 1200 calorie high Protein diet. I ate straight ketogenic Monday through Friday and on the weekend I stuck to 1200 calories, but if I wanted a donut, by God, I had a donut, but just one. Eventually giving up the calories for this thing I thought I wanted, but was never as good as I wanted it to be, became less important and I started choosing not to have them. If I ate 1400 calories one day, big deal. Get back on the horse tomorrow. This 6 months is the perfect time for you to get in touch with what you want and for you to prove to yourself that you are worthy of your own care and concern. Don't wait til surgery to get on board with you. -
Two weeks post op and gaining?
MowryRocks replied to barrel racer again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the beginning, I lost like 18lbs and then I gained 5 and hit the 3 week stall. It all came off. Head down, nose to the grind stone, it will all be ok. -
I bought a size 18 dress last night, down from a 28!

Making the most out of the first 9 months...
MowryRocks replied to onmyway11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sleeved on 10/26/2016. I'm just over 16 weeks out and next week...I'm going to Hawaii with the fam. I have a plan and I'm going to stick to it. Also don't stress over the "honeymoon period" the time frames different docs give are all over the place. -
Severe heart burn

Sleeved 10/26/2016. I've only had 2 incidents of heartburn and Dr. prescribed the PPI which worked like a charm both times. -
Considering Gastric Sleeve
MowryRocks replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just remember its ok to be scared. You can go through this entire 6 month process and change your mind at the last minute. I did my whole process that way. The lesson I learned is that 6 months laid out before you feels a lot longer than the 6 months you have behind you. It goes by so quickly, the anticipation is what makes it feel so long. I'm 3 months post sleeve and I am grateful every day for the 6 months beforehand. It really allowed me to prepare myself for my life changes. I gave up caffeine right away and used the time to slowly eliminate things from my diet or "hack" them to make them more nutritious. I started a walking regimen that got me up off the couch and walking 5-7 miles per day (this was a build up over time) I completed 6 5k's during that timeframe. It's all about how you use the time. -

I read a lot of things pre-op that indicated that it is very probable to have a period immediately after the surgery.

Everyone who watched me go through this process pre-op and post-op knows there hasn't been anything EASY about this process. -

Here come the haters!
MowryRocks replied to AMJK79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
***Disclaimer...this is my story...not a directive*** I told everyone as soon as I knew which was 6 months prior to surgery. I answered every question they had about it before hand and rebutted every concern. By three months post-op, everyone saw how hard I was working to stay on plan. They saw me walk the parking lot at work twice, three times a day. I have HEARD nothing but support, but what they say behind my back...that's on them and may the hate in their hearts help them find the nearly 70lbs I lost. (kidding) (kinda) Everyone at work knows, everyone in my personal life knows, everyone in my online life knows, AND I blog about it. Nothing, but love. -
What to bring to hospital?
MowryRocks replied to anonmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took way too much stuff. books, selfie stick (WTH was I thinking?). The only things I really needed were going home clothes, a brush, my celly cell (Smartphone for all of you who weren't teenagers in the early 90's), and a toothbrush. I was in overnight.
