@@Djmohr I haven't had much of an urge to try ice cream yet. It has been "break your ears off cold" here up until the last couple of days. I have experimented with a couple of sugary things (mainly at Thanksgiving) and found that they do not sit easily upon my sleeve. That's fine with me. I don't need them to survive, or even be happy. Now beef... If I were to develop problems with tolerating beef, that would be an issue for me. I know I am still in the early stages, but so far, so good with that.

Did you not like your food?
LittleBill replied to AllyInDallas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just tell people my stomach is bigger on the outside than it is on the inside. I have been doing that for years, and it always works. It is even more true now. I also assure the person asking that if I had not liked it, they would have had no doubt in their mind. -
Day Two and Feeling Good -- Too Good?
LittleBill replied to SeattleSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 2 1/2 months out from surgery, and my experience was pretty much the same as yours. The surgeon visiting my room expressed surprise that I was moving around as easily as I was. Nothing hurt. I stopped my pain medicine and my anti nausea medicine on my first full day home, which was my second day after surgery. As far as I am concerned, that smooth recovery made it even more imperative that I follow directions closely. I didn't have other reminders to keep me in line. -
I did not know this about the stall bit. Do you have some information on that I could read? I have them in my truck for when I am out. I haven't quite stalled, but I have slowed to the point of might as well be. The plan is to replace them with Jerky. Soon.

To be truthful, I have not struggled much with temptation. I have been doing some experimenting with very small amounts of various things I used to like "before". Most of the bad stuff has had very little appeal, and even less satisfaction. I would be a liar if I said I was 100% converted mentally, but I have had no real struggles post surgery. I do like to joke around about things though. I will tell you this. If going past the DQ WERE a problem, I would take a different route. I am that committed to making this happen.

I don't think my skeleton could get into single digit sized pants. But I agree with the sentiment. My eating habits have changed tremendously, and all for the better. Stuff I used to really enjoy is now "eh" at best.

We hop on the scale. We write down what we eat. We measure various parts of our bodies, and we go through complete changes of wardrobe. Along the way, we have non scale victories to help us see how we are doing. We get feedback from others on how good we look. Even with all that, we sometimes lose perspective of how we are doing. At least, I do. I'd wager there might be one or two others like me here. Today, I got a real dose of real perspective on how my weight loss journey is going. I was visiting my parents and helping my 82 year old father with a few chores around the house. One of the things I did was pick up some 50 lb bags of sand and salt for the driveway and walkway at their place. I mean literally. I grabbed them out of the back of my truck and carried them up the front stairs of their house. If you want a real good idea of how you are doing on your loss of weight, grab 50 lbs of sand, sling it over your shoulder, and walk upstairs. Do it a few times. Then realize you used to carry that and more, every single day of your life, everywhere you went. I'm down 117 lbs right now. I had no desire to throw two bags on my shoulder to see how it felt. I was content with one.

You just reminded me of something. I am on deck to make a fancy wood sushi bowl next month, and I still don't have the specs from the guy who wants me to make it.

Not doing so well
LittleBill replied to cantstop87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I look at it this way. Either this person is a troll, or she is not. If she is for real, then she really needs to get some good advice here, advice which sends her to more good advice and help locally. Nobody here is diminished by offering to help. If she IS a troll, then who loses? How pathetic does someone's life have to be to troll a weight loss forum? Maybe it is some pre-adolescent kid, or some neckbeard living in Mommy's basement, but the only person who loses is the troll. People who do good things to help other people are never diminished when they help, even when they are taken in. And if you are the kind of person to help others in time of need, you will be taken in at some point or another. That should not harden you to the needs of those you encounter. -
I must be working on a giant squid then.

Do you drink carbonated beverages?
LittleBill replied to NurseBec's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
ALL the people in my program said the exact same thing. I am learning though, that not everything they tell us is specifically tailored to the sleeve. I never really cared much for sodas, but I do miss a cold beer now and then. I will probably give it a try when beer drinking weather arrives next spring. -
I love shopping now. Never did before!
LittleBill replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a guy. I think they would have to operate on my brain to make me enjoy shopping. But I am glad to see you getting some enjoyment again from something you used to love. -
I am really sorry to see you have to go through this. It is hard enough on you, but it has got to be even harder for the children, regardless of their ages. Seeing people going through things like this is always discouraging for me. I want to jump in and help them get things back to where they need to be, but so many times it doesn't work out. I hope you continue to do well with your weight loss. You have done a great job so far. And I hope the new year brings more positive things into your life than negative.

The Struggle is REAL
LittleBill replied to hanbanan27's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just to add to what has already been written. look at this as an opportunity. You are starting on a new life, and you will undoubtably meet someone who will treat you lots better. Your best response to your former boyfriend will be to live life well to the fullest. -
Can I lie - hernia op?
LittleBill replied to bossportsgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just say you are having some parts removed. You don't need to go any further. I've had some close acquaintances ask what my surgery was for. I replied that it was need to know and let it go at that. -
8 days post op NO stomach tone
LittleBill replied to Amy'ssleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept on my back for two weeks. I did NOT want to take any chances of pulling something loose. Every time I would roll over on my side, I'd get a tiny twinge and go right back on my back. I was a huge sissy pants. But it got better fairly quickly. -

I don't think I'm doing this right
LittleBill replied to julie74601's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think you need to worry. Liquids don't have "sticking power" like solids do. When I was on the full liquids stage, I just concentrated on making sure I got all my Protein and then the volume I was supposed to get. I didn't really have any hunger during that time. Now that I am pretty well healed up and on solid food, it is a lot easier to tell when I am full. You'll get there. For now, just make sure you are drinking what you need to drink and get your protein in that way. And yeah, it is all liquid. Once you transition to solid food, you can still do Protein shakes to get your protein requirements and count them as liquid. And you don't need to worry about stretching your sleeve. The diarrhea will get better eventually as your system normalizes. At least, that is what They (with a capital T) say. My system goes back and forth, but the Hershey squirts is better than the other swing of the pendulum. -
Congratulations!

I'm doing it just like you describe, especially if I am out somewhere and there is no easy way to divide (and conquer). Take it slow, and stop as you reach your limit. I find stopping a little early is better than late. I may get hungry again earlier on, but I don't have to deal with feeling like I've got food tickling my tonsils for an hour or so.

Journey to the healing place
LittleBill replied to wcs17's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Phil 4:13-13 Life is not always easy, and not always what we expect, but God will get us through it. Hello from a brother in the Lord. -
HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSE BEFORE GETTING APPROVED?
LittleBill replied to pleezeSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not required to lose anything but money. Haha, seriously, I did have to "make an effort", and I suppose they might have turned me down if I hadn't lost anything, but I lost 67 lbs from Day One to B-Day. Losing weight has always been easy. Keeping it off is a different story. -
That sucks! The Kirby, I mean. I can't help it, it is a character flaw. Mrs. LittleBill is pretty strong from helping me out all these years with remodeling, firewood, moving stuff around the shop, (the occasional wrassling match) etc, but I am still the chief jar opener around here.

That's because you are firing on all cylinders.

See, here I am posting about this, and you are already a head of the game.
