That happened to me. I just stopped and used the sugar free ones. I still lost 17 lbs during pre op and was able to have the surgery.

Yes, I did struggle too. I'm 9 days post op now, and I can say it's become MUCH better. I kept reading on here that it gets better, so I decided to believe it and it's true. It may take you all day to get in enough Water. I realized I was trying to drink to 3 much at once. I was also told to crush my meds. I hope things get better for you soon!

Today is 2 weeks post op, and I'm feeling great! Down 18lbs, and thrilled to be done with the liquid phase! 1 month of liquids really sucks. Lol. I made a ricotta bake for dinner. It tasted amazing, but I was only able to eat a few bites.
That looks so good! I'm a week away from my ricotta bake. [emoji4]

Is your uh related to it being cream of wheat 3 days post op or 11 spoons of it?I need to know how to be defensive [emoji23]

Congrats on your surgery and so glad it went well!!!
Now, Holy crap Batman! You're gettin' to eat Cream o'the wheat? Surgeons are so diff. I will be on 2 weeks liquid pre-op + 2 weeks liquid post op. And I would think my PCOS would have a field day if I had 11 bites of Cream of Wheat. (Not judging you, just commenting on how different and unique we all are!! You=luckyyyyyyyy)
Yeah, I had the 2 week liver shrinking that included 2 Protein bars/day but that was the only thing I could chew. I was on clear liquid for the first two days post op and today, day 3, I am allowed the full liquid diet. This includes cream of wheat. I'm on this full liquid diet until day 14. I said spoons though because it wasn't thick enough to bite. Psychologically, it helped to imagine I was having actual food. Yeah, I know what you mean though, I was incredibly jealous of people who just eat low carb pre op.

So I got the bypass done on 8/17. I was freaking out before hand. Then, of course, it went just fine. I did have a pretty bad hiatal hernia that was repaired too.
I felt restriction for the first time today when I got cream of wheat and was done after 11 spoons.
Luckily I've had no nausea or vomiting. I'm taking in all of you guys' lessons on pacing and walking and sipping.
Now I'm just waiting to go home and sleep! [emoji4]

I'm SO ready for surgery already! Day 7 of my liquid diet, 7 to go. I'm struggling for sure. 1/2 way done though, I know I can do it! How are your preop diets going?

This is so hard, but I try almost hourly to remind myself that it's a temporary problem for a life long gain! Congratulations on making it halfway! I've got 5 more days myself. Phew!

I feel your pain. I find out my A1C this Friday and I know it's way higher than that. Just started insulin 2 weeks ago to try and lower it for this [emoji20]
I'm really sorry!! I hope the insulin works well for you!

Just wondering what anyone's opinion is on not telling certain people in your life that you are getting the sleeve surgery. My Mom is 81, and I know she will start the "You don't need that, just get on a healthy diet....etc...etc" I am a grown up 50 yr old woman, I am a nurse, I have a full life with my kids and partner....and I really just do not feel like dealing with the opinion/dissapproival/comments etc. Yes, i can tell her and deal with the commentary etc....I just do not feel like it. Yet, I do feel a bit odd if I do not tell her I am having fairly major surgery.
I am basically venting, but I would really love to hear opinions on those who chose to not tell certain folks in their lives. Thanks!!
Im not telling my mom either. My mom would say the EXACT same thing as yours, however she is the nurse. I don't need the negativity! My husband, two sisters, and a friend know. That's enough support for me.

Update: I was started on Victoza and, three months to the day, my a1c was down from 11.4 to 7.4! It's really nice to have normal daily readings again too. Best of all, surgery has been rescheduled to 8/17!! I'm so excited to see this journey through.
Began 10/16, Approved 03/17, Canceled 04/17 bc of high BSG, now bypass pending 07/17 -
I've told my husband, no one at work, two sisters, my mom, and two close friends. Everyone else would be negative and I don't need that.

I'm so bummed, and just need to vent. My bypass surgery was scheduled fit 5/11 so I went to my class and pre-op labs on Monday. I learned yesterday that my a1c was too high for surgery. I was really surprised it had gone so high. After I ugly cried, I made an appointment with my doctor to talk about a new medication. Has anyone else been through this?

I completely agree with Diana_in_philly. I work for an insurer and it is all in how paperwork is worded!
