Best low-impact post-op exercise?
Ms. Brightside replied to Ms. Brightside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I was thinking. Thanks. -
I sure wouldn't mind buying them AGAIN, full price at the time, if that were the case.

And ordered these Vera Bradley pajamas during a recent clearance sale. I didn't even have a surgery date, but putchased them in the largest size available, hoping they'd fit come this fall/winter. They arrived in the mail today. I also got my surgery date today: 5/22!!!!! These are a size 12/14 and I'm currently in a 22/24. Hoping I can wear them by Christmas Eve, at my family's annual brunch (we all wear pajamas as a tradition). I have 7 months to make that happen! Fun: Surprises after weight loss
Ms. Brightside replied to Berry78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In the past, when I lost about 50 pounds, my feet lost about 1/2 shoe size. I'm curious to see what size my feet will be when I'm 100+ down. -
Thank you!! I have always wanted a pair of VB pajamas, but have never been able to fit into them. *fingers crossed*

Did anyone here not need this (yet)?
Ms. Brightside replied to jessgnc's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I know exactly what you are going through, as I have had the same thoughts throughout the pre-op process. However, I have come to accept the harsh reality is that being 100+ pounds overweight is not healthy in its own respect. It doesn't matter that my bloodwork is perfect and I am free of hypertension and diabetes. Carrying this extra weight is a real medical issue. Further, if I could have remedied this myself, I would have by now. Is there a reason that the DS was recommended for you over the sleeve or other procedure? ETA: never mind, I see your response to this question above. Honestly, I'd get a second opinion. Just because your surgeon prefers the DS, generically speaking, doesn't mean it would be the best fit (or even necessary) for you. -

Congrats! I got my approval from my insurance company today, as well! Just waiting to hear from my surgeon's office. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app -
FWIW, there are several active FB pages geared towards plant-based dieters who have undergone WLS. Also, Dr. Garth Davis prescribes a plant-based diet for his patients and he posts many before/after pictures on his FB page. I wouldn't necessarily base the idea of success for those who follow a plant-based diet on the number of active plant-based posters here. I didn't post here much at first, due to the lack of veg posts when I signed up, but have found other ways to give & receive support here. Did you have WLS? The audacity of some.
Ms. Brightside replied to Deactivatedfatgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
People are rude and intrusive. I would never ask if someone had undergone WLS, just as I would never ask if someone was pregnant. I'm honestly not sure how I would have responded, either. I guess I need to start thinking about that and have some answers ready to go. It doesn't help that I work for a sizable company and rumors travel quickly. I have had to tell my superiors and my direct reports for obvious reasons. Sigh. -
Are you pre-op?
-
How many carbs are you allotted per day? Who prescribed that amount? My doc only asked that I focus on grams of protein (60), which is a modest #, based on what I've seen others post here. I highly recommend the book called "Proteinaholic" by (bariatric surgeon) Dr. Garth Davis. Dr. Davis is also very active on his FB page and happy to answer questions there. "A Pound of Cure" by (bariatric surgeon) Dr. Matthew Weiner is a good read, too. Dr. Weiner also has many lectures available on Youtube.

Self pay who's the best ?????
Ms. Brightside replied to traumachaser17's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Several surgeons in the North Texas area are in the $10K range for self-pay. -
I don't know what do to
Ms. Brightside replied to wolfmom71's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you met with a nutritionist recently to review your food and exercise? Do you weigh and track your food and beverages? Do you consume "slider foods"? I am pre-op, but these are all important things that have been discussed with me numerous times with my nutritionist, surgeon, and in my local support group. I hope you can get the guidance that you need soon. -
Meal Replacement Protein Powder
Ms. Brightside replied to Knittychic's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
And as far as meal replacement powders, there are several vegan options, though you may likely need to head to a health food store or order from Amazon. Vega & Garden of Life come to mind. Here are some others: http://www.peta.org/living/food/pump-workouts-vegan-protein-powder/ Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Meal Replacement Protein Powder
Ms. Brightside replied to Knittychic's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
FYI - Muscle Milk is not vegan [emoji19], but they do have a new line of plant-based/vegan shakes called Evolve. I found them at Target. They are just about as good as any other I've tried. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Feedback: Breast Lift with or without implant? Do you regret the lift without the implant and why? Thanks!
Ms. Brightside replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Planning on the same for me! So glad to hear the lift can be done without implants. I definitely want the tatas to be much smaller. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
