Need a doctor on the Eastside
NewcastleMamma replied to bluebunny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maureen, Why did you hate it? I, too, needed an unfil on Friday - I had to go to my Nurse's home since she was not working on Friday. It took a little over an hour to get there, but was worth it. It was urgent that I got an unfil - I was having a hard time keep my saliva down.... I go to the Arlington Pharmacy to get my fills - the ladies there are great. Where in Newcastle do you live? Would you like to meet for coffee, since we both live in Newcastle? Peace, Maggie -
Hi everyone. I was banded on 2.15.08, and since then I've lost 26lbs (yippie)!! In the last 10 days I have not lost anything and am now feeling like a looser - and getting discouraged. For some reason, when I loose weight every week, I feel so good about myself, and it really helps me keep going, doing what I"m supposed to be doing and eating ALL the right things and not eating much. I'm slipping a little and need some support. I've had one fill - 1.6cc's. I noticed about 4 days into it that I was having a hard time drinking liquids, so I had .6cc's removed. I felt great. I was able to eat my small meals, drink lots of Water, etc. I never really felt 'full' when I was done with my small meal, but I was no longer hungry, so I was following that cue. Now I'm having a harder time following that cue, so I think it might be time for a little bit of a fill....just a guess. Since my fill/unfill I've lost 11lbs. My fill was on March 31st. The unfill was about 5 days later. But for the last 10 days I've stayed the same. Do you think I need a fill? I could use some words of encouragement, and some inspiration. I'm not making great choices the last week, and I know I should be. I never expected to get so down on myself when I didn't see the scale going down every week. While I still can't eat as much as I used to, I am eating a bit more and not making great choices. Thanks for reading and anything you can contribute - personal experiences, words of wisdom, support, inspiration, etc. Much Peace and Good Luck to Us All! Maggie

I need some support/inspriation
NewcastleMamma replied to NewcastleMamma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for your reply and words! Somehow when I got on the scale this morning I lost 4lbs. HAHA - It's so strange. I weigh myself once a week right when I wake up. I decided to weigh myself again this morning (obsessing since I had not lost anything in 10 days) and there it was - 4lbs gone! This is a boost I needed. I'm so happy - I can't wait to reach my goal - I'm 10lbs from my half way point! Thanks again. PEace, Maggie -

Hi all you WA bandsters! I was wondering if anyone wanted to start a local Support Group - maybe we could meet once a month or twice a month for coffee/tea and support. Is anyone interested? I'm in Newcasatle - and would love to meet some other people in my area who have been banded and support each other. Thanks. Peace, Maggie

Need a doctor on the Eastside

I'm in Newcastle and drive to Arlington for my fills. The gals there are so great!!! Would any of you eastside bandsters want to get together for a coffee/tea sometime. Make our own little In-Town support group? Peace, Maggie -
What are you eating in a day?
NewcastleMamma replied to Officeslave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it's all important. It also might depend on how your body digests certain foods. You want to make sure you are NOT eating to many calories. You also want to make sure the food you are putting in your body is the best food for you. No junk. Go back to basics - that's what I'm going. Grilling fresh fish, chicken and other things. Steaming veggies, making rice - I cook my rice in organic chicken broth, some spices and dried fruit. It shakes things up a bit and I don't get tired of the same old rice, ya know. Don't drink your calories, either. You won't feel full, and will want to eat. I hope this helps you. Good Luck! Peace, Maggie -
What did you eat today?
NewcastleMamma replied to Sherry L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm now on solids. Last night I had grilled salmon, steamed broccoli and quineo. It was so good, and so good for me. I was able to eat a small amount, feel full and digest well! -
Hi. I was banded on 2.15.08 in Mexico by Dr. Oritz. I'm now eating solids, and I must say it's a bit strange. I think the hardest thing for me so far has been not being able to drink with eating. I'm so used to having a big iced Water while I'm eating dinner. I live in WA State, and am hoping to meet people from all over to support each other during this journey. Thanks for reading.

Banded 2/15/08 In Mexico

Hey Rhonda, We were both banded by Dr. Ortiz! Where in Western WA are you? I'm (obviously) in Newcastle. -
First Fill - Seriously...it's that easy?
NewcastleMamma replied to jnbwilds's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrates Becca! You are doing really great! I am happy to see that my 14lbs isn't anything pathetic. I was looking at some of these weight loss tickers, and wondering what I was doing wrong - seeing so many people with such large numbers. Then it dawned on me it might be from pre-op and post-op. I chose to just start my weightloss journey from the day I was banded. Good Luck!! I hope we can follow each other's journey! -
First Fill - Seriously...it's that easy?

I've got a little boy who will be One in April and a little girl who will be 3 in April. They share the same birthday - isn't that crazy! Born the same day, 2 years apart. I plan on being there, running around the soccer feild, playing on the beach and all that with them. This is my start. -
I never thought about a reward - I guess I was thinking the loss of weight, new found energy and overall well being was reward enough. Now ya got me thinking - haha! Maybe I'll reward myself with that little black dress we all would love to have and look good in. YEAH! That's it. I'll get a cute little black dress. Now I just have to figure out if I get that when I reach my goal weight or when I hit a milestone, like 1/2 my goal weight. Something to think about, I guess. By the way - everyone who has a ticker with weight loss - is that from the date of being banded or the start of the pre-op? I posted since the date of being banded. Good Luck everyone! We can all do it!

There's no time like the present! That's what I say now. No matter your age, knowing you are a woman of purpose and taking control of your life - there's no time like the present. I'm overjoyed that the Lap Band is available for those who need it. I am honoring the commitment I've made to myself to take this time and care for myself as well as I care for others. I never thought it would be my greatest challenge! -
HI everyone. I'm new to the boards here. I live in Newcastle, WA and was banded in Mexico on 2/15/08. I'm not sure if I'll get my first fill in Mexico, or if I'll find a place local. I know there are a few places around 40 miles from me that will do fills if you were banded in Mexico. I'm a bit nervous about the fills - after hearing about overfilling and all the discomfort! I'm a sissy! Anyone else in my area? Where do you get fills? How long ago were you banded? Let's connect!

I have the option of going back for my fills, or I can go through fillcenterusa.com or something like that. I know there are a few that are within 40 miles of my house that will do fills if you were banded in mexico. I'm still not sure if I'll go back to Mexico for my first fill. I think I'd like to, but I've got 2 kids under 3 at home, and I really missed them when I was there last! Maybe the whole family will go, and make a fun trip out of it - Lego Land, San Diego zoo, etc.

Hi All! I live in WA State, and was banded on 2.15.08. So far, so good. I'm hoping to meet some local people, as well as from all over. Support is key, and I'm here to help support as best I can, and also receive support.

Ah, thanks! So when do you need to get your first fill? I'm supposed to get it 6-8 weeks out. Sounds like you are eating pretty normal things, while limited, I know it's nice to be able to chew :-)

Hey Jax, What's a Double V? StLouis, when are you able to start eating food again? I was banded in Mexico, and I was told 3 weeks until regular meals.

StLouisGal, We were banded on the same day! I was banded in Mexico - my insurance would not cover it. They wanted a BMI of 40+, and I wasn't willing to gain weight in order to do it. You are just starting solids, too. Are you nervous? How have you been doing? Peace, M -

NewcastleMamma replied to jnbwilds's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm glad to hear your first fill went so well. It's so funny - I'm more worried about my first fill than I was about the surgery! I don't wanna do it - I don't wanna do it! I've still got at least 3 weeks - I was banded on 2.15.08, but I really don't want to do it. They said around 6-8 weeks after being banded is a good time to get your first fill. While I want these weeks to fly by, so I can loose more weight, I don't want the day to come for my fill. I'm such a sissy! I wish they could knock you out for the fill - haha. On a side note - I see everyone has a ticker, is your weight loss from the date of band or from pre-op diet? Thanks for any comments. Peace, M
