Hunger at 1 Year Post Surgery

Thank you! And Jenn1 I see you are at my GOAL which is 140! I am happy to see the time it took to arrive there and I'm hopeful I will get there soon as well, I'm at 162 right now.
  2. I recently celebrated my one year surgiversary! I've lost about 85 pounds since the start of my journey at 247 pounds. I am currently stalled at weight loss but I'm not too worried as I'm still eating and exercising accordingly. My biggest issue, however, is HUNGER. I have noticed in the past few weeks that I am feeling hungrier faster and less satisfied with what I am eating. I question if there is any difference in WHAT I am eating and for the most part it's all the same, not much has changed. My exercise routine hasn't doubled or tripled either. I am wondering if other 1 year sleevers have gone through this very same thing? Is it related to the hormone ghrelin coming back?

    Hair Loss Stage

Hi all, I'm 9 months post op and at the hair loss stage. It's actually much worse than I thought it would be given the fact that I have fine hair to begin with. My greys need to be touched up pretty badly, so my question is -- will dying my roots make it much worse? (It's so bad I'm looking at wigs online lol). Thank you!!
  4. Yes! Was sleeved last November and it happens to me a lot and it's not a pleasant experience. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what causes it so I can avoid it happening again. Sometimes it's eating too fast, other times it's the consistency of the food.

    Carbs Post Op

Speaking of required proteing -- I have not figured out how to get the required amount of protein in without a 30gram shake a day. I've tried to skip the shakes, but I fall low on my protein needs. I am so sick of the shakes though.

    Carbs Post Op

Thank you for your replies. I've been eating nothing but canned chicken and tuna, soft boiled eggs, mozzarella cheese string, Soups, and drinking Protein shakes for so long, just the thought of eating normal food including "good carbs" is kind of daunting. I'll make sure to stick to the bariatric plate guidelines my dietitian laid out for me.

    Carbs Post Op

Hello fellow sleevers! My surgery was on 11/3 and according to my plan, I have finally passed all of the phases, and now i'm on normal foods. Up until now I've been super focused on eating Protein rich soft foods. I will continue to work on the daily protein requirement, but I'm no longer restricted to "soft foods." Over the weekend I had a small wrap with egg, ham, and cheese. It took me some time to eat it and I couldn't eat the whole thing, but it was delicious. I have to say though, I felt a bit naughty enjoying the wrap. My question is for sleevers who have gone through all the phases and are now eating "normal food", -- what kind of carbs are you allowing in your diet plan? Thank You!

    Alcohol after sleeve

Hi! I was sleeved on 11/3 and I had the same question as there are quite a bit of holiday parties going on this time of year. My NUT said I can have alcohol in stage 3, so that would have been about 5 weeks post surgery, but to be mindful of sugary drinks and empty calories. I've had two glasses of wine on two different occasions, slow sips, seemed to take a while just to get through one. I didn't have any ill effects or anything. I also drank a lot of Water that night and the next day.
  10. I'm on stage 3 soft foods and one food recommended is canned chicken and tuna. I've had tuna and cottage cheese and that wasn't bad, would like to experiment with the chicken this week. Any suggestions on what to eat it with? Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sample Daily Menu for Soft Foods?

Thanks, Kate! Does the avocado have to be puréed? I love avocados and was planning on adding them to my meal plan but not puréed, I'd make sure they were chewed well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Suzzzzz- I've been doing the Protein shake for lunch, just seems like an easy choice. One soft boiled egg for breakfast, followed by the horse Vitamins, lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sample Daily Menu for Soft Foods?

I know which foods are good for this stage but I was looking for a sample menu, like Breakfast lunch and dinner and any Snacks included, one that has all of the Protein requirements, and when the Vitamins are taken. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    fluids

Same for me! My urine is very clear though so I was thinking I wasn't too dehydrated? In the beginning my urine was very dark almost orange. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I just started soft foods. Does anyone have a sample menu that has worked well for them in the soft food phase? One that includes the horse pills, oops I meant Bariatric Vitamins that we're supposed to take? . I'm 18 days post op and still finding it hard to get all the Protein in. Post Surgery Pain

My incision soreness and burning pain went away after I started using a maternity belly band (surgeon recommended). Or you can use some kind of simple girdle. It was like magic really. I'm assuming bec that area doesn't move around as much now. I started that one week post op and felt relief right away. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
