Waho post op 1 day shy of 2 weeks now and things are starting to kick back to normal. I started soft foods yesterday and have been doing just fine with them so far. I am still having some weird spasmish pains from my stomach almost like I am hicuping with no hicup sound so thats an odd one I wil ask about at my post op appt. My post op is not until next monday 3weeks post op which I thought was a bit od since most peoples were 2 weeks out but anyways. I am looking forward to getting to ask some questions I have come up with since. I also took my steri strips off my port site today so that was nice to see the huge scar that is going to leave me as a reminder :-) It is still sore for sure but getting better every day. I lost almost 12lbs the 1st week post op and this last week I lost nothing so I am not sure why that is since I was on liquids both weeks but ah well 12lbs is a crazy amount so I am still very happy. How are all the other people that are a week or 2 out now doing?

I was banded 2 weeks ago at ohsu and I feel you on that one. It has not been all bad by any means but I do get the feeling sometime from some of the staff that they allways have better things to do than to answer my questions or help me with somthing. How long ago were you banded?
-
Just tossing in my 2 cents I had protein powder to everything for the most part, soup milk drinks pudding jello all of it just to get to the required 70-80g a day I was banded on June 2nd and have been doing that since day 2.

Rest rest rest! It is important however difficult it can be at some times. I have been taking the pain meds to help with that I am off of them during the day but sleeping I tried one night without and didn't go so well so will still be doing that for a few more days I think. Hope everyone is doing well! ~Heather

Reggie71, Thanks for the help. I also read the other post you made on here after this one. My Dr's did not say anything about how much to drink at a time being an issue other than small sips. Since I am doing liquids I havent had any restriction as far as how much a can drink of my Protein shakes and Water juice etc. Should I be limiting it to a 1/4 at a time? How often that sort of thing?

I have been doing ok with the liquids it does get boring and I will be thankful when week 2 comes around but its ok now. I was banded June 2nd. However the gas pain, and I don't mean from the stuff they inflated you with. I feel like I have to burp but cant all the time but I just have a spasm like a hiccup with no sound, my tummy rumbles constantly and its really uncomfortable. I have tried gas x with no relief and my post op is not until the 22nd. Any one else experience this?
-
Ah yes the laughing not that bad but coughing, sneezing, and omg I got hicups like 2 days after that was not fun. Just keep holding my tummy if I cough or anything that seems to help a bit. And laughter really is the best medicine. :grouphug:

Kpdgal I have been the same way. Not hungry at all until I feel my stomach gurgle and I have to have food right then and there. I have had one weird thing. I have had no gas from the surgery being blown up so to speak so that was nice but I do have quite it bit of gas of every other kind which has been really painful and not relieved by gas-x at all. Also I will get this feeling in my lower stomach that I need to burp but it doesn't come all the way up it just hurts really bad and causes a spasm sort of like when you hicup. Anyone else with this issue?

No prob I hope it helps :-) Going "free" for a few days I am sure would is fine as far as the incisions go. I just dont like how it feels :-) Just depends on your comfort level.

Spud.mama, As a well endowed woman myself, I have not had any issues with the healing or pain. I have an incision as well as the port right under my breasts and it has not been an issue thus far as I have been wearing a bra. I do have the little plastic square things over them right now but I don’t anticipate any problems after those come off in a few days. I had surgery on Tuesday. The bra I have been wearing is a "sports bra" although really I am not sure what sport you could play with this as the support is not there to do much but walk around in it, but its comfortable cloth and spandex and it closes in the front. It has helped give me enough support to not worry about them being a cause of extra pain on the incisions, and the front closure makes it easy. Just in general as I know going without, one with the exception of the first day after, surgery is not a comfortable situation I got this ahead of time. The brand is Bestform and actually while writing this reply I googled it and found a link for you. They go up to a size 48 band which is nice but I know will not cover everyone, but I think finding a bra with the ease of the front closer and no wires or anything else to worry about so you can sleep in it as well has been really handy and I would suggest it. (As I did that a lot the first few days and did not want to worry about anything uncomfortable) This has been really comfortable and provides enough support for the first week for me so far to get them off the incisions. Here is the link... Bestform Intimates: Products: 2-ply stretch cotton front-close crop :-) Hope that helps.

well post op day 4 things continue to get better still just pain at the port site. I find that my stomach is hungry but I have no desire to eat so just getting protein down and strugling to get all the water down that I should. I did get out walking today so that wax nice as it was the first time I have been outside since surgery. When I do eat I don't have any restricion that I notice so just stoping after a 1/4 cup or so to make sure I do not get sick. How is everyone else from this weeks surgeries doing?

I will try that I think I have the disposible heat things around somewere. Thanks :-)

Ah yeah I called and she said to take them Off around day 5 if they don't come off on their own. Since u had glue as well on your incisions do u feel little humps on some of them like a bit of extra Glue got on the surounding skin? I have 5 small incisions and the port. If I dident see the other ones I wouldent know they were there the port one is the only one that hurts. The last 2 days I have felt like there is gas in my stomach like I have to burp but can't and its a bir painful, have u expierenced any of that?

pennreporter yes I have had surgery before but they were both eye surgery and so I am guessing the pain meds were different post op, this is the first time I have ever stayed at the hospital over night though. Day 3 post op and this are going much better the allergic reaction from the morphine seems to be gone thank goodness one less thing to worry about. Incisions look good showered today and that felt fantastic for sure! Haven't needed pain meds yet today so I am able to stay awake for more than an hour hehe. The port site is really the only thing that hurts as far as pain goes. I however did get hicups yesterday which was really, really uncomfortable! Going to try and get some more protein and water down today and hope all goes well! I do have a question for folks though they used the surgical glue on my incisions and then used the plastic squars over them. How long did people who had these leave them on? I had differet nurses and dr tell me different times and I called today to ask again and got yet a different answer of leave them on for 3-5 days post op. Hope everyone is doing well today! ~Heather

Hi all just got home from the hospital had my surgery on Tuesday morning! I am sore around the port and have a good bit of nausea and dizziness and I found out the hard way that I am allergic to morphine! I look like someone decked me in the face several times and now look like I have a red raccoon mask on and I itch all over. Fun stuff this is I now get to take benedrill to take care of that. I have had jello and broth so far is all and will be on that for about 2 more days then to full liquids. How is everyone else doing?

Mine will be the AP Lapband. I hear you about the waiting June 2nd as well although I do not know what time. They said they will call me the night before to let me know. Seems like they could plan a bit better and let you know before then so you can situate rides and such but oh well. So are most of you going home the same day or staying over night in the hospital?

In my case for the bedroom my mattress was on a box spring and it was really high and would have been hard to get in and out of so I took it out. I have a very small room as well so I took anything out that would be a cause to walk around. Set out things that I might need on a daily basis that might have been in a closet or on a shelf so I would not have to reach to get to them that sort of thing. In the bathroom I did not do anything other than I am going to clean my house Monday cause I know I wont be up to doing it for a few weeks, but other people have said they got raised toilet seats, installed a grip bar to get in and out of the shower that kind of thing. I did not do any of those as I did not feel it necessary but I was looking for ideas of other things that I might not have thought of.

One week to go! So excited! I have been working towards this goal for 2 years and its finally 1 week away! How is everyone doing? What things are you doing to prepare? Your bedroom, bathroom, food stuffs, things to bring to the hospital? I am a huge list maker and preparer so that is what I am doing tomorrow. My last day off work before surgery next Tuesday!

thank you for the support! I am very excited. I wish it was not so far away but oh well im happy to finally get this far!

astera replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
