    Losing my hair

I was banded October 30, 2008. I started noticing my hair falling out in clumps aound the 4 month mark; especially after I washed it. I tried taking Biotin for about two months, to be honest I didn't notice a difference. I have pretty thick hair so no one but me noticed except for me and the stray hairs that were on my shirt when I went to work. I am now 10 months out and I can say that the hairloss has definately slowed almost to a stop and I am really glad too. I can honestly tell you I was freaking out! I did talk to my doctor and a lot of ther people and they all said that it does get better... your body is going through a huge change and your hormones are changing, so that it is why you are having this happen. It sucks, but it does get better. Good luck!

    Does the fill hurt??

Okay I have had 3 fills and 1 unfill. I was so nervous for my 1st fill that I decided to watch a U-Tube video on it. I have to tell you it scared me even more. But, I WILL TELL YOU THAT IT DOESN'T HURT AND IF YOUR DOCTOR KNOWS EXACTLY WHERE YOUR PORT IS IT IS REALLY QUICK. I would just suggest that you try not to look at the needle, because it is slightly bigger than what an adult would have their blood drawn with. I actuall think that getting my blood drawn is worse than the fill!! Good luck and I am sure that you will be fine.

Am I too tight? Or give it time?

I am having the same problems. I had my second fill on Monday 1/5 and still today I am having the gurgling and burps in my throat with liquids. Even with taking small small sips. I have noticed that I am much more tight in the morning and by lunch time I am lossening up, but still having a hard time with mushies. I only had .2cc's put in on my adjustment. I have a 10cc band and have 7.8 total in it now. I am just wondering if I should call my surgeons office? Help. Thanks, AmandaJene
  7. I used Liquid Tylenol too. But I also found to get past the nasty crushed pill taste thing and what worked for me was to mix the crushed pill with some water, get a chaser of plain water ready and HOLD your nose and down the pillwater and chase it with the other water. But the trick is to do is fast... I still could taste the pill a little but it did work fo rthe most part. Good luck! Amanda

    Sharp Pain

Hi, I had/have the same pain. I was banded on Oct 30th and I had the gas pain in my left shoulder too. Boy, that hurts. Every night at around 5pm it starts, still. But by morning it is gone. As far as the pain on my left side, now I only get the pain first thing in the morning with a yawn or deep breath, so I am assuming it is related to my port. I will find out tomorrow at my post-op appt. I will let you know, what I find out. Good Luck to you!
  9. Hi Lisa, I am 32, married and no children unless you want to count my 3 dogs. Anyways, I was banded on 10/30, I weighed 245 and today 1 week 2 days post op I am down 15 pounds. I can handle that! Well I am looking for a buddy to. I am originally from California, spent most of my life there. I grew up in Sonoma County. If you need anything or just want to chat let me know. Take Care and lot's of luck!

    Newly Banded

I actually used Progresso Potato, Broccoli, and Cheddar soup as a good mushie food. I strained the chunks out then mashed the chunks until they were smooth and put them back in the soup... mm, mm, good. Also, I really thought the Cheesy Chicken Enchilada soup my progesso was really good tooo. I am a huge fan of Mexican food so it is perfect.

Banded at CMC on Aug. 5th

Well, I am hoping that it is 6-7 weeks, that is what it was the last time. But I wouldn't be suprised if it was December. We will find out on Monday. How was your recovery? Did you have restriction right away after surgery? I hope you don't mind me asking some questions of you? Thanks, Amanda

Banded at CMC on Aug. 5th

Hi, I am having my 2nd consult with Dr. Campbell on Monday 9/15.. Long story short I had a surgery date back in March and my insurance at my new job had it as an exclusion on my policy... well I now have a new job with Fed. BCBS and the surgery is covered! Yeah, so back on track with the program and I am hoping that Dr. Campbell still decides that the lapband is still a go and I get a new date. So, how far out was your surgery date from your consult date? Did you get to go home the same day after surgery? I am sure you already know how slow this week seems to go..... it sucks. Congratulations on your surgery and sending my prayers your way! Amanda:thumbup:
  14. Hi, I have UHC also and I got a denial saying that WLS is an exclusion on my policy. I was wondering if you could give me any tips on what to do about an appeal. My surgeon's office doesn't seem to be really convinced that an appeal will work. What the heck, you'd think that insurance companies would see how much cheaper it would be to approve the surgery for those that need it and not just want it. Any advice would be helpful!
