I am 38yrs old and I remeber UNITS quite well, I wore them alot. They were kinda expensive though, but did mix and match well. As far as jeans, now my weight has gone down I do like the lower jeans better, because it fits over my flabby excess skin and hold it in better, but not with my butt crack hanging out. I don't want to have to dress in a way I have to use crack spackle!!!! LOL The funny thing is I wear the same kinda tops that I have always worn just in a much smaller cuter size and now all I hear from my hubby is it's too low cut(they are NOT by any means low cut). He didn't care b4, the only time I dont get comments from him is when i am wearing a turtleneck.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?

My father has called me porky pig all my life so I know how a Dad's words can hurt!!! -
OK I have had a really bad morning! and I smoked. I shouldn't have but I did. Got to jump back on the wagon now, and just pray God will help this day get better. Kids really have a way of showing us another side don't they. They can be so naive but so deep at times. Perhaps angels whisper in their ears because they are more innocent to hear them.

Mine was last year when I went to pick my little girl up at daycare, she was out in the yard playing and there was several boys playing up by the gate. I walked in, and a kid that was around the corner said who came in, and the boy yelled back, i dunno some big fat woman. That hurt so much!!! -
Lady I am so glad you were both OK. That must have been really scary. Take care of yourself now and feel better. Congrats on hubby new job. As far as the sweet Tea, I used to make it with splenda, but now I don't. The reason is I need the calories. I use sweetner in my coffee, and everything else, so that is the one pleasure I give myself is using the real stuff in tea. But I drink lots of water during the day at work.

thats what i was referring to in equivelent of weight, haha. For the one on here that knows my son, DON'T YOU TELL HIM I SAID THAT!!!! LOL Yes I excersise 3 days a week usually, cardio and weights. I don't really have a food routine, I eat pretty much anything i can, i just limit portions. I try not to stress about it, not like a dieting at all. I am not a vegetable eater so I mostly do hard protein. My band keeps me from eating most fried foods (thank God) which used to be my main source of food! I drink lots of water, and I do drink sweet tea. I eat mexican at least once a week, but never order a meal, just something ala carte. Thats about it. I am down from a size 24pants to a 10 (sometimes 12 depending on the pants). Whats that old commercial, THANKS TO XXXXX I LOOK AND FEEL LIKE A NEW (WO)MAN. I don't remember the diet they were advertising for but i remember it was funny. OOPs I'm showing my age!

It was a 1st week, I think I had 3 cigs all week, which is good since i used to smoke a pack a day. I painted my bedroom all weekend to keep me busy! This morning though the devil played a trick on me, on my way to work from the dentist, i was getting gas, and i decided to clean out my van of trash, and low and behold a brand new unopened pack of cigs were in there. Luckily the Lord is good and my mouth was swollen and numb and I DID NOT SMOKE THEM!!!!!!! Yes Aimee my ticker and sig is correct, thank God I have almost lost a teenager, oh i'm sorry that's wish full thinking I love my teenager. Ok maybe a large dog then, but my feet thank me every minute for the 87lbs gone. I actually saw 167 yesterday but I am not claiming it yet. I am just trying to focus on NOT smoking and not replacing it with food. Thank God the band keeps me from gorging during my cravings. But i am wearing the patch so it helps alot. Glad your back Aimee. Thanks for the constant support everyone.

Ok this was hard to narrow down: 1. Mathew Mchonahay (sp?) (when he looks rugged with shirt off and , and, ooo i gotta stop!! 2. Patrick Dempsey ( I wanna be meredith on grey's just to lay next to him, yeah just to lay!!!!) 3. Josh Duhamel (from Las Vegas) I WANT MORE THAN 3!!!! DANGIT!

Barbara12375, I use benefiber in my coffee every morning, it is odorless and tastleless, you can put it in anything and it dissolves easy. It has worked for me. I spent 3 hours at the dentist this morning getting a crown and a cyst burnt off my gum. The numbing is just now starting to wear off. It will be a fun afternoon.

Complications due to a fall.

Lynn Band please give us an update on your Doctors visit. We are worried about you! -
Good morning everyone! I did slip yesterday and had 1 cig, but I decided to do it like the bandster life, and not just say oh well might as well smoke again, i jumped straight back on the non smoking bandwagon and said NO MORE!!!! Listen guys I need your support, and if there are any men on this forum I wanna hear from you too! I really want to go to vegas but my hubby says no. The reason why is, the more I lose the more he gains. I love my hubby dearly and he has severe heart disease in his family, in fact his dad and his uncles all had there first heart attack around the age of 40, well this year my hubby will be turning 40. He is 6.2 and weighs probably 330 if not more, he wears a 5X shirt, and carries it all in his gut, which is more stressful on the heart. The more my self confidence rises the more i see his decrease. He works 3rd shift and he is tired all the time, he has problems sleeping during the day, i think mostly due to his weight. He has mentioned several times he wished he could get the band. But he is a normal man that doesn't ever go to the doctor, and can show no history. Nor would he go enough to do the required supervised diet by a doctor for the insurance to pay. Ok so now here it is, I went to Dr. Fox (my lapband dr.) yesterday for my checkup. I talked to him about my hubby. He said that my insurance has started a new program, it's 3 months long. You go 1 hour a month for 3 months, they have all the staff at this facility to do everything, sleep test, physic evals, blood work, etc. The insurance company says that if you complete the program they will pay for the surgery for sure!!!! I talked to him about it last night and he is seriously considering it. He just doesn't know if he can handle the lifestyle change. I told him it would be easier for him, because I am already doing it, and we could support eachother. He is concerned because he is a man, and that pride things tells him he should be able to do it on his own. I am so worrried about his health. Please everyone, his name is Kevin, I need prayers, good thoughts whatever you can send our way that he will take this step for his health. I want him to see our beatiful daughter grown up. Thanks for listening!!!!

I caught the stomache flu 4 days after banding. It was not fun, but since I was on liquids only just alot of dry heaving (TMI). I don't think it was as violent as pre-banding ever was, so that was good. But i was VERY scared.

Ok, I don't normally chime-in in the rants and raves section, I like to stay more low key BUT, I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!!! I was a smoker until yesterday. This is my second day smoke free, and I am having a really hard day today! The nicotine addicition is the WORST!!!! By having read this thread it has helped me to realize that as bad as I want that nasty ole cancer stick, by choosing not to do it is sooo much better. It is so hard to do though. They put such addictive chemicals in them that makes your body crave them so much! I hate smoking and I hate the way it smells, but my body craves them so much. I do, uhymm I did not smoke in my home, i went outside, but I did smoke around my kid outside and in the car. I always felt guilty about it but I did it anyway! She is the reason why I have choose to say NO MORE will I let that nasty cigarette control me. It would be much easier for me to quit if I didn't have to see and smell them eveywhere I went. ok enough thanks for this thread!!!!!!

ok REALLY struggling today! It would be so easy to talk myself into lighting one up. I went the whole day yesterday without much problem, now today WHAM!!!!!! I do NOT need one, I do NOT need one!!!!! BREATHE!!!!!!! sorry for the rant!
-
I am using the patch. I lost 85lbs before I decided to tackle it, I should have quit before surgery but didn't. I REALLY want to quit though for my little girl, I don't want her to grow up and smoke, not saying she won't but with me smoking it stacks the odds against her. If I stop now while she is only 6 perhaps she has a better shot! Thanks for the support guys! Yeah I heard they went up to almost $5.00 on Jan 1st. Definetly a good time to quit!!!!!
-
WOW Lucy 94lbs, how awesome is that! I think that must officially make you the biggest Junebee loser!!! Congrats. When are you having your surgery? Well so far so good not smoking today, I haven't turned to food so far either. I worked out really hard at lunch!!!! 2007 my new life of on my way to being thin and NOT being a smoker, WHAHOO!!!!!!!

Happy New Year everyone. I had a great holiday, hope everyone else did too. I sure didn't want to come back to work after being off for 1 1/2 weeks. Sounds like everyone is doing well, getting fills and unfills as needed to eat real food! Praise God I didn't gain anything over the holiday's, I maintained. Now for the hard one. My valentines goal is going to be a bit different. Today is the 1st day of my new NON SMOKING life. My goal is to STAY NON SMOKING and not gain any weight. For those of you that have never smoked that is not a easy challenge. Smoking has always been a HUGE vice for me, but I am determined to kick the nasty habit. Please pray, send good thoughts, whatever, my way. I will need the strength!!!! I hope that 2007 brings us all much joy and happiness! As far as Vegas, I will talk to DH about it, but I can garauntee (sp?) that if I can come he will come with. With my new found body and self image he is feeling a little self conscous about his own weight right now and wouldn't let me go without him. Not that he doesn't trust me, he just is having his own issue's. I pray that 2007 finds him in a place where he will do something for himself about his own weight. Heart disease runs in his family and being 6.2 and pushing 330 he scares me ALOT!!!!!! I love him and want him around to grow old with!!!!

Would you go on a date with someone who didn't ask you out until you lost weight?
rroswelltx replied to ser123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I personally never referred to a person as shallow when it came to dating and being initially attracted to a person. I was speaking in a marriage. I was never thin and trim when he met me either I was always a big girl! During our marriage I was in a wheelchair for a year and gained about 40lbs. When I got out of it I had sever problems with my feet, and it wasn't so easy to lose the weight. That I do think of as "shallow" IMHO. -

Wheetsin, When he said he wasn't physically attrated to me, it wasn't only that. Making jokes about me in front of family and friends telling me my big fat a$$ may not make it through the door. Now keep in mind when I was married to this man 14yrs ago my weight was not near where it was when I had surgery it was like 180. He would turn his lip into a scowl when I would crawl in bed with him. NONE of it felt anything like LOVE to me! I am married to a wonderful man now, and he is extremely overweight but i love him for who he is, and would never treat him as i was treated. As far as the statement about if I lost weight I would dump him, well i did dump him and i was still fat. But I was trying to show him that he should love me and not my appearance. Of course I had self-esteem issue's. I don't know of too many people that are obese that don't (I'm NOT saying everyone does). He was hurtful and mean, and I was trying to hurt him back, you know the vicious cycle we all fall into! If you marry someone for better or worse then the physicall shouldn't be the only thing you go on, it should be much, much deeper. But with him it wasn't he was plain shallow!!!!! -
Here is our family pics that we had made into Christmas cards.

Well I do think it is different between marriage and dating. My first husband wasn't attracted to me when i got heavy and he let me know it, it really hurt. I flat out told him that if he couldn't love me for who i was than he was shallow. I also told him, if I ever lost weight I would kick him to the curb for the way he treated me heavy! Needless to say he cheated on me with a beanpole, and he got kicked to the curb anyway's!!! -
Thanks Sunshine2, you'll be in bandland soon!!!! What a great start to 2007!
