    Favorite foods?

When I was on soft foods I did cottage cheese, refried beans, soft cooked carrots, chicken salad made from canned chicken with a little light mayo.... yogurt, string cheese, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs.
  2. Are you on Clear liquids only right now? What did your doctor tell you? If you are on full liquids then you can have Protein shakes and other things too like strained cream Soups.... you need to ask your doctor if you are unsure.

    Measure

Yes, I always use a food scale, especially to weigh meats and Proteins. I use a measuring cup for yogurt. The food scale is great because it is really an accurate way to know just how many ounces of Protein you are getting, which works great when you're using myfitnesspal.

    Coffee post op

Hello After my surgery, I started drinking decaf coffee around week 2. I would usually have one cup a morning. Then I switched over to my regular caffeinated coffee at around 8 weeks post op. I pretty much have a cup or two (at the most) of hot or iced coffee a day now. I used to be a huge caffeine drinker, so I have really cut way back, which is a good thing. My stomach has tolerated coffee well... no problems.

    2.5 Weeks Out

Yes, it is completely normal to stall at that point. It happened to me and it happens to many people.... I've read many people post about it here. You just had major surgery, your body has been through a lot and you are dropping weight quickly.... your body needs time to heal and to adjust to the weight loss. Just keep up the good work and the pounds will start falling off again before too long. And I'm sure your doctor is very familiar with the fact that people "stall", so I'm sure he won't be upset. Don't worry.

    Decaf coffee

Decaf coffee is a liquid, so yes it counts towards your fluids intake (my nutritionist told me this).
  8. Hi, I am 13 weeks post op. A little over a week ago I was having dizzy spells and experiencing extreme tiredness and fatigue. It was really bad, I felt lifeless. I knew there was something wrong so I went to urgent care and they sent me over to the ER. After they ran some tests, I found out I was dehydrated and had a urinary tract infection. They gave me IV fluids and a prescription for an antibiotic. They told me I need to drink plenty of fluids. I thought I had been getting in plenty.... I guess I hadn't. You should probably get in to your doctor right away and have that checked out. I wouldn't wait til Monday.
  9. @Sugarnspice no, they couldn't repair the incisional hernias at the time of my sleeve surgery. The hernias are located along a large incision that I had from a former surgery over a year ago (colon-resection). My surgeon said I needed to lose 80-100 pounds before they are able to go in and repair the hernias.
  10. Hello everyone I had my 12-week post op appointment with my surgeon today. As soon as he walked into the room and saw me he said "You look so different! I can see the weight loss... you look great!". Well, I am far from "looking great", but it sure did feel good to hear him say those things. Plus, he said that I was right on track, asked me how I was feeling, etc. After meeting with him I felt like jumping up and down with joy! I felt so encouraged. Next step is to have bloodwork done to make sure my Vitamin B levels and Iron level look good. Then I am to make an appointment with my dietician and just go over my daily eating habits with her and see if she wants to make any changes. Victories so far since the Pre-Op diet 2 weeks before surgery: 1) Dropping below 300 pounds 2) Going from a size 28 to a size 20 3) Losing 51 pounds up to this point 4) Being able to clip my own toenails 5) Taking a bath and being able to see past my stomach that used to stick out and hide everything 6) Putting on my socks and shoes without struggling or being out of breath 7) Now when my husband gives me a hug, he can fit his arms around me with room to spare 8) Being able to exercise more 9) My 2 incisional hernias that were so painful in my stomach don't hurt anymore! And I'm sure I am forgetting some things, but these were the things that came to mind at the moment. I am looking forward to even more victories! Just wanted to share.

    2nd week stall

I hit my first stall right after the 2nd week post op. I didn't lose for over a week after that. I am much like Armygalbonnie, I hit about a week stall every few weeks and when I lose, I am losing about 2-3 pounds per week now. I agree, follow your plan and the weight will come off.... even if it's a slow weight loss--nothing wrong with that.

    Chewable and Liquid Vitamins

I take the Celebrate brand of Vitamins. After surgery, I was taking the Celebrate "orange burst" chewable tablet for my Calcium/Vitamin D. And I just switched from the Celebrate multivitamin chewable tablet to the capsules, now that I am able to swallow larger pills. One reason why I wanted to get off of the chewable tablets if possible is because of the grams of carbs that are in them.... they were adding up, and I was getting 8 grams of carbs a day just from vitamins alone. Also, if you are taking the chewable vitamins (the soft chews), be aware that the carbs and calories are higher. Some people may not even care about that, but I thought I would mention it.

    Uti's

I have a UTI and had to go to the ER this past week because I was feeling bad and urgent care sent me to the ER since my regular physician wasn't in that day. I had mild dehydration and a UTI. My guess would be that the dehydration led to the UTI.... I read where it could.

    Pasta

I was told no bread for now, and I'm 13 weeks post op. My nutritionist said I can have a piece of toast if I want to. I know that personally, I stay away from toast and Pasta at this point in my weight loss journey, because of the fact that breads and pasta are high in carbs. I want to make sure that I keep my carbs lower than 45 grams a day, or I can't lose weight.

    Any puréed food ideas

@jensrdy593 I just did the scrambled eggs as is, small bites. My nutritionist said they didn't need to be pureed.

    Any puréed food ideas

When I was on the pureed stage I ate cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs, refried Beans with a little bit of light sour cream... or you could put a little cheese on them. And the thing that I ate the most of was canned chicken that I would mash with a fork (my nutritionist said I didn't have to put it in the blender).... and I would add a little lowfat mayo to the chicken and make a chicken salad out of it. You could also do mashed sweet potatoes, mashed carrots or mashed potatoes. I didn't eat much of the last 3 things, mainly because I was concentrating on getting that Protein in. And I always pass this along because it's great tasting and you can have it on the pureed food stage. A recipe for ricotta bake can be found here: theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com She has a whole area of pureed food recipes... she is a former WLS patient with a great success story.

    Protien

You all need to get in your Protein. It is very important and that is why during our pre-op class or classes they tell you do do so. Your doctor/nutritionist will want you to get in a minimum of 60 grams a day. And to answer your question @sleevedviolet yes getting in at least your required amount of protein will help you lose weight. "The body needs additional protein during the period of rapid weight loss to maintain your muscle mass. Protein is also required for your metabolism to occur. If you don’t provide enough protein in your diet, the body will take its protein from your muscles and you can become frail." For those of you struggling with getting in your protein, if you are in the early stages of full liquids, pureed or even soft foods, you really do need to find a Protein shake that you like to get that protein. And also consider an unflavored protein powder such as unjury or Isopure that you can add to some foods or zero calorie drinks such as decaf iced tea, Powerade Zero or Crystal Light.

    My first time eating pizza!

@JamieLogical yes, I agree with you, $70 is very pricey if it turns out you don't like the pizza. I think this weekend I am going to go to my nutrition store... apparently it can be found where I am at a place called Total Nutrition. I will pick up one pizza for $7 to see if I like it before I put in the big order with the company. I believe I saw a "store locator" on Real Good Pizza Company's website. They might have someone who carries it in your town. I will let you know whether it's yummy or not.

    My first time eating pizza!

Speaking of pizza (and I do love it), I was checking my local bariatric online support group on Facebook this morning, and this lady had posted a picture of this pizza that she found at a local nutritional supply place. The pizzas are personal size, and she said she could eat half of one for a meal and she said that it was delicious, but a little pricey at $7.00 each. I was thrilled with the nutritional information of the pizza. One pizza has 270 calories, 25 grams of Protein, 16 grams of fat and get this... only 4 carbs! So I looked up the pizza on Google, the name of it is Real Good Pizza Company. They have a website and a bunch of 5-star reviews for the product. If you buy them from the company, you can get them for $5.80 each, with a minimum order of 12 pizzas. I can hardly wait to try it... going to place an order next week with them.

    Pureed Stage

Good afternoon When I was on the pureed stage I had scrambled eggs and you don't have to blend them, just small, slow bites. Also, cottage cheese, refried Beans with either a little light sour cream or melted cheese on them. Yogurt, canned chicken or tuna mixed with a little light mayo or yogurt to make a chicken or tuna salad. I ate a lot of chicken salad. You can also have mashed sweet potatoes or potatoes, but I didn't eat much of that because I wanted to keep my carbs to a minimum and always go for my Protein first. Also, you can have homemade ricotta bake on the pureed stage and I made it and it was wonderful. This website has the recipe for it: theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com She had WLS and has a great website with recipes on the pureed stage.

    Just want to know why......

I am the same way as Jamie, I can only drink Water if it is ice cold with lots of ice in it. And even then, it's not one of my favorite things to drink like it used to be prior to surgery. Now my favorite drink is iced decaf unsweet tea. It really is funny how the taste buds have changed since surgery.
