I had a similar thing happen. Turned out that (after process of elimination), I was having a reaction to the soy protein in one of the protein shake brands I had. I was fine with they whey protein in the others though.

Funny you say that about your mailing address. We're really more Halfmoon, and we're Shen schools but Mechanicville mailing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Both beginning process, only one approved?
Slick300 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone- My wife and I have recently embarked on the VSG trek. We've both done our info sessions and initial consult with surgeon. Our first psych eval appointments are this week (specifically, hers yesterday, mine today). She came home from that appointment expressing concern regarding the impression she got from the psychologist. Due to some of the comments made and impression given, she fears that he may not give her the thumbs up on his assessment. My question-has anyone out there been in a similar situation where both parities of a couple were looking to do this together, but only one was approved for surgery? If so, what path did you each take? How did things turn out? There are a lot of turns this road might take, from one having surgery and one not, but both eating right and exercising with both shedding the weight and keeping it off to one having surgery and the one that didn't never changing their ways. Lots of concerns here. Thanks in advance for your input. Lee -

Jumping in on this older conversation because I am a NYS employee with the Empire Plan and am wondering how your experience went @@dlfnjgirl? My consult is 1/6/17. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'd invite myself, but it's a bit of a commute from New York! I do know someone from Roseburg and have a cousin in Portland. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well, really just based on my own research and info session. Lower BMI, no history of GERD, experience of a friend that was of similar stats and had VSG. Haven't had consult with surgeon yet, so actually meant as I move forward and have that appt, I'll certainly trust the Doc opinion. Lol, every time I see it, that's exactly what I think. Reminds me of a mammogram image. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey everyone. Have been reading BP for a couple of months now, but this is my first post. Still early in the process-have attended the required info session and am awaiting my consult. I'm on the smaller side of eligibility with BMI of 38 and severe obstructive sleep apnea. Original thought was VSG but will trust in surgeon's advice. At any rate, as I go through all the pros and cons of this process in my head, I feel like i can take on and handle just about everything, but one glaring issue pops up....food and drink. I've spent most of my life with a love for great food and drink. I run the gamut on food from high end to low, ethnic to not and on drink all across the board from single malts to expertly made cocktails and obscure micro-brews. I simply love good stuff. This love for food and beverage has been such a big part of my interests for so long, I fear how compromised this will be post-surgery. Has anyone out there been in a similar boat with the same interest? How has your involvement with food and drink been after surgery? Thanks in advance for any input!
