God speed to all you 18th day All Stars! One more wake up call and you’re on your way. I am 3 day post-op and doing very well. I will echo one of the comments said here many times: Get up and walk around as soon as possible. -
For those of you on blood thinners please make sure you do what you are told and talk to your doctors about the parameters surrounding them. I was banded on Thursday afternoon and had one scary moment when they considered canceling my surgery. I was told to stop my Coumadin 5 days prior to surgery so I stopped it on Saturday. So I showed up at the hospital, got processed and was moved to the pre op waiting room: Well while laying on the gurney they told me they where waiting for my blood results and when they arrived my PTT was 1.6 and the guidelines say it should be 1.5 or lower. So I had to sweat out a mini conference by the surgical team until they decided to move forward. What a nightmare: I was imagining the worst case scenario where I got canceled and had to go through rescheduling but it worked out in the end.

Congratulations Gary! I am glad to hear that you have had a good start. For me, two days post op, the pain has subsided considerably since yesterday and I just got back from an hour walk in the park near my house. I took it slow and easy but managed an hour. Good luck and God speed!!!!

Howdy folks…Well it’s done. I was banded yesterday afternoon at 2:30 PM and was home at 1:30 PM today; my doctors require an overnight stay and I had no problem with that especially since I had the self serve Morphine drip. I am sure my pain would be considerable worse if no for the drugs but all in all I feel pretty well. I was up walking before bed last night and a few times today. I took a nice two and a half hour nap this afternoon and plan on lying low, except for walking, for the next couple of days. I’m not proud; if it hurts I will take the drugs! I wish everyone the best and now the hard work starts….

Best wishes to the 14/08/08 banders!!

Thanks, I have been fortunate that I didn’t have to do a pre-op diet however I just got back from my shopping trip to cover the liquid portion of my post-op diet and if I had any illusions they are gone now. When I woke up this morning it was dang near surreal: I have been dealing with the process and preparing for this for so many months now and it seems like that is all of my focus but this morning it was very clear to me that the time is here. I thank God that I have an almost eerie calm about me: God speed to you all. -
Wishing all 12/08/08'ers the best for tomorrow!!

Hang in there Jay our thoughts are with you, this too shall pass. -
Howdy Lap Band sisters and brothers my name is Greg and I am a Telecom Engineer who lives in NY and works in NJ. I am single and getting banded on the 14th: I have been fighting weight issues for most of my life although it has gotten much worse over the last ten years or so. My Cardiologist first suggested the band to me about 15 months ago and I decided early this year to pursue it, I am going to turn 50 this year and want to enter my 50’s moving in the right direction. I am still very happy with my decision but when I look in the mirror in the morning there is still a faint internal voice that wonders if I can pull this off after so many previous failures. However that voice is wrong; I along with all of us plan on being a success story by staying with the program. Good luck to all and it is going to be great sharing that success with you all.

Lanakila I am going to pass, I do fantasy baseball and need a break after that season. If it was picking against the spread I would have considered it because that is pretty low maintenance. Sorry

Friday the 8th August - WEIGH IN!

Friday the 8th August - WEIGH IN!
Grievous Angel replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I weighed in at 335 this morning which is pretty much what I have been at give or take 5 ponds for many months now. I will consider that my starting weight which is also what my ticker has. I walked in the park three times this week. I am getting banded on Thursday and my doctor has a mandatory one night stay in the hospital so I will weigh in one day late next week but I will be a different person and have embarked on the journey of (and for) a lifetime. -
Uh Oh sorry Maleliz777 but I am a huge Giant fan and season ticket holder so I guess our football correspondence will be limited but we can still support each others weight loss goals. Is this draft a team fantasy football or a pick against the spread pool?

Keeping motivated - Friday morning weigh ins!

Hi Iam new here
Grievous Angel replied to tabjeffrey@yaho's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Also check and see if your machine has a ramp up capability; mine can go 5, 10 or 20 minutes where the pressure ramps up slowly giving you time to adjust. I no longer use it but did at the beginning and it helped. By all means also speak to your Pulmonary Doctor too. -

Hang in there Terry I have been sleeping with a machine for four years now and it took a while to get used to but it is well worth it once you start getting the deep rest you have been missing, Your energy level will increase and you will feel a lot better. Unlike me you just got banded so you’re going to loose weight and then you won’t need the damn thing at all so you won’t be connected to it for as long as I have been. J We are amazing creatures of habit so after adjusting it will be second nature. -
UHC, ~57 BMI, lack of weight loss history?
Grievous Angel replied to ByeByeBonBon's topic in Insurance & Financing
I also have UHC and they took the 5 years of information from my Cardiologist and PCP notes; fortunately I was able to produce the last four years from my Cardiologist and five years ago from my PCP. I know the Administrator at my Lap Band Center didn’t actually have to supply copies to UNH because she took the info from me verbally but said I would need copies if challenged. Can you call doctors from the other states because they should still have your records? I was told that my doctor’s scribbled notes would be good enough if I ever had to produce them. It all hinges on whether they ask for proof so I suggest getting what you can and submit your information. Good luck! -
It is also my nephew/God son's birthday so I will take all of those possitive vibes.

Greetings kindred spirits and fellow travelers, I too am an August Bandster. It has been a long and frustrating process but that is now in the rear view mirror. August 14 is my date and I am very excited and somewhat apprehensive but have no doubts about my decision to proceed. Good luck and God speed to all!!!
