Congratulations that is outstanding! These are the best kind of victories (not that the scale one aren’t great too) but the clothes indicators really drive home the success story. My biggest NSV will be when I don’t have to go the Big Man store and can shop in regular stores. Keep up the great work.

Gilta, based on your progress you are rockin’ so just find the drive again. I also had a Thanksgiving weekend of some misbehaving but I did a couple of days of just liquid on Monday/Tuesday (as if I had a fill) to help straighten me out and am now back with the program. The liquids was my choice but the main thing is finding your post band self again because you have obviously been successful. Stay strong!!!

You could also put some cereal in a baggie. They have milk on the plane for coffee so you could probably get a coffee cup half full of low fat milk and eat the cereal with it. Good luck and have a great time; I was fortunate enough to win a trip to Hawaii once and it was a memory I cherish.

Hey Shamrock, I am glad you are feeling better and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving; I know I did. It is an outstanding day with the family and my niece’s baby is big enough to participate this year so that was fun. Anyway I am the chef for our feast and I cooked for two days and thankfully it all hit the table hot and tasty. It was funny because when I put my plate together I did it as if it was pre-surgery (out of habit) and when I sat down I realized I had a plate of food in front of me that I was only going eat about a quarter of.. Thank God for the band. Stay strong everyone we have entered the season where food and drink is everywhere! Gary B, 10 – 1 LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

I find the Kashi Go Lean cereals aren’t bad either. The Original Go Lean has the most protein but is a little boring so I buy a box of that and a box of the Go Lean Crunch and mix them: Add some skim milk and a few blue berries or raspberries and I’m happy. I live alone so I always throw thing away but I believe having good healthy ingredients/choices on hand is the key for me. You provided some great ideas there Jacqui thanks!

I came to this thread late but I'm in and I am going to shoot high and go for 15 lbs. Current 295 1/1/09 280

Hey Bill, congrats on the date that is great news. My doctor required an overnight stay and discharge the next morning but I was up walking the halls that night (I also didn't have a catheter). My surgery was at 2:30 PM and I was in a room by around 7:00 with a couple of visitors but as soon as they left around 8:15 I was walking the halls with my IV rack in tow. I was also walking in the park near my house everyday there after. Everyone says to take Gas X and walk a lot and I completely agree. As mediummike said; everyone is different so listen to your body but don’t baby yourself either. If you feel you can walk do it! My opinion is that you want to engage in activity as soon as possible. Good luck and God speed.

Congratulations Gary B, I am also down forty and going for my second fill this Tuesday 11/18. It is the first time my weight has begun with the number “2” in five years (my first big milestone). This is absolutely the best decision I have made in a long time. Good luck everyone and keep up the great work.

That is a nice thought EQ but as far as I am concerned it just the present state of insurance and medicine. My pre-surgery period was torture and they almost canceled me while on the gurney the day of surgery because of my blood levels (related to thinners). Anyway xtightend hang in there bro because as stated before it is well worth the wait. It is the best decision I ever made and the period before was much worse than the actual surgery.

I had to do two days of liquids post fill and they tell me that is there procedure for all fills.
-
I also have a 10cc band and had my first fill on 9/26 and am scheduled for my second on 11/7. My surgeon explained that they put 2cc in on surgery day and they put 3cc in at first fill for a total of five. My doctor had me do two days of liquid post fill and I believe that was a good idea; I imagine all doctors do things their own way and of course it is up to us to follow the program. I have felt restriction but definitely think I need more. I can eat more than I will be able to at sweet spot but haven’t been pushing it. Stay the course brother we are just starting the ride of and for our lives, good luck and God speed. BTW Jack thanks for all the great input and advice it is incredibly valuable to us new comers.

Good morning men, I definitely had the “WTFHID” emotion right before and after surgery but have absolutely no regrets. I only wish I had made this decision earlier. This is the tool we all need to get to a much better a healthier life. Good luck and God speed you are moving in the right direction!

I really miss a good beer! I was at a Giants football game last week and the guy in front of me came back with a perfect looking glass of Bass Ale. Anyway I am doing as I’m told and not having any carbonation so when I do decide to have a cocktail I go with Bacardi Clear Rum and Crystal Light Fruit Punch. There are Zero Carbs in the clear rum (of course there are a lot of calories) and the Crystal Light is low calorie. I know it is a massive self justification but it doesn’t taste too bad and it is pretty light too.

Grievous Angel replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been very busy and haven't logged on in the last 10 days. I lost 5 lbs this past week for a total of 25. My exercise is still only walking as my doctor wants me to wait until six weeks before working out. I am really looking forward to my first fill and being able to work out. Godd luck and keep up the great work everyone. -
Friday Weigh Ins - 29th August 08

Two weeks post-op, feeling very good and I lost 7 pounds in the last week for a total of 20. I have walked three miles everyday except Monday. I graduated to pureed food yesterday and it was wonderful to chew on something. My first fill is scheduled for 9/26. Good luck to all! -
Sounds OK but I agree that the apple juice is loaded with sugar and the yogurt shouldn’t have any fruit chunks or seeds at this point. I am in the same boat as you I can tolerate anything that is OK’d by my program list and don’t feel any restriction but everyone is different. Do what your doctor/program say; it is all about healing….Good luck.

Congratulations!!! Everything will get a little better and easier each day. Don’t forget the Gas-X if you aren’t already using it. That and walking are what relieves the gas pain and the gas is a tricky son of a gun. I was banded on the 14th and wasn’t feeling the gas pain anymore this Friday and then all of a sudden it was back on Saturday afternoon but fortunately it was gone quickly….Good luck and keep the faith. J

Outstanding dwrd73 you are on your way and you will be walking around in the afternoon. Good luck and God speed and we will see you on the other side.
-
I was banded on the 14th and agree with what was said previously; walk outside for as long as you can and sip water all day not in bunches. Gas-X strips have also been a God send; if you aren’t using them go get them ASAP. Good luck.

Friday Morning Weigh Ins! - 22nd August 2008
Grievous Angel replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good morning all, I missed last Friday’s weigh in as I was still in the hospital but here is my update: Friday 8/8 335, Thursday 8/14 (Band Day) 331 and today 322. So I am down 13 but 9 since getting banded. YEEE HAAA!!! I have my follow up with the Surgeon this afternoon but all is well and I couldn’t have hoped for a better recovery. I have finished the first of two weeks on liquids and can’t wait for some pureed food (I can’t believe I would ever say anything like that J). Have a great day everyone! -
God speed to all you 21ster’s! It is your time and you will do great. Jessenia, I had the same experience. I was banded on the 14th and it was inexplicable but when I woke up on the 13th I had an amazing quiet and calmness about me. I think it was because after 6 months of chasing this thing it finally sunk in that it was here.
-
Congratulations, you made it! I suggest you still take the Gas-X strips as a preemptive strike.
-
I am six day post op and mine started itching yesterday and as was said this is a sign of healing. YEE HAA! We are on our way.

Best wishes mominflorida you will do great!
