:cry i am so totally bummed! i just found out that before i can get my band done i have to have cardiac clearance due to an abnormal ekg. the soonest i can get in to have that in is feb 17-21. that will push my band back to 3/3 instead of 2/3. i have had ekg's in the past and they usually come back abnormal because i have very tiny arteries. nevertheless, they wont do it until i get cardiac clearance. this is also going to push back my dh band surgery also until april rather than march. im just so bummed i could just cry. i was so excited and looking forward to next friday.

Hi everyone. I havent been here for awhile but i really need your help. After much thought and realization i have come to the conclusion that i am definitely a stress eater. Always have been, always will be. I need help. i am gaining weight, i have gained about 10lbs over the last month. i start out good in the morning then by late afternoon im hitting the ice cream and anything else i can find. i know what im supposed to be eating, but theres like a mental block in my head and i just cant get past it. im pretty stressed right now, with health reasons, family issues and such. i just dont know what i need to do to move past this. i've thought about seeing a shrink but i know if i do that my family will freak out. im just the keep it to yourself type of person and now its just building up and this is what has happened, me gaining and eating.

thanks cathy. i think maybe i will call the bariatric center that i went thru, they do have a psychologist there and see what all that entails. otherwise, i will call my insurance and have them refer someone. thanks for your help.

I have kinda been doing the same thing. We picked up some weight loss shakes (kirkland brand) at Costco, chocolate. I take one of those, add ice, ff milk, some stevia and a little ff creamer. Very satisfying and oh soo good!

Be very careful. i suffered a respiratory infection a little over a year ago and it resulted in my band slipping. i ended up having to have it removed and then replaced six months later. I went thru so much before i had it removed, i was very very sick and look liked death warmed over. had been hospitalized for a week before i was finally allowed to go see my band doctor who immediately transferred me to another hospital and i had the band out the following day. very traumatic. if i were you, i would contact your band doctor now and ask for a floroscopic to check on your band. i had talked to my band doctor early on in my process and she had told me she thought i was fine, but had they done a floro then it would have avoided everything i had to go thru.

My husband and I were both able to obtain life insurance after our bands. The premiums are a little higher, but it wasnt too bad. I was told that after two years we could be re-evaluated for a premium decrease. Who were you gonna go thru?

Struggling, Back Sliding, Whatever U Want 2 Call It
ethansgrandma replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We need to do this together! I am in the same boat as you. Only I was banded a little over a year ago. Have lost about 70lbs but it is starting to creep back up. I know what it is. Its the fact that I know what I can get away with and that I still really like things that arent so good for you. We just really need to get back on track and I will help you if you will help me. Maybe we can make each other accountable. -
How many couples have done the band?
ethansgrandma replied to skeeterbait8's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my hubby and i are both banded. we were both banded 04/06, but i had to have mine removed then replaced in 11/07 due to slippage. to date he has lost about 225lbs and i have lost about 75lbs. i love having him do this with me. we feed off each others support. his bmi was over 50 when we started and now it is almost in the 20's. mine was about 39 i think and i am in the high 20's. i would definitely recommend it if you are both looking at doing this. -
Does Banding Work if you're over 50?
ethansgrandma replied to knotchy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely, I was banded in 11/07 and have lost about 70lbs so far. My hubby was banded 04/06 and he has lost about 225lbs to date. we're both over 50. -
I've been there believe me! But I dont think it was right of them to beat you down. You may want to try doing the 5 day pouch diet just to get yourself back on track. Its basically 5 days of your post op diet. not bad at all. Heres the link: Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test good luck. stick with it.

my first band was taken out after a year. i had gotten bronchitis really bad and it slipped. pretty ugly. after 6 months, i had a new one put in.
-
Be very careful. I am on my second lapband thanks to bronchitis. I originally got my band 04/2006. that october i started getting sick and after 3 antibiotics and 2 specialists, they were still guessing. my cough was horrible. i couldnt sleep in bed, had to sleep in my lazyboy. at the time, my band doctor didnt think anything was wrong. but, after having an upper gi, and begging for the hospital (yes the hospital) i ended up in 2 different hospitals, they gave me a pass to go to my band doctor. immediately, she put me into the second hospital, and the next day my band was gone. my stomach had come up past the band and was above the band 2/3 of the way. after i lost my band, i was also on life support due to complications with breathing. but yes, i did have a second band put in. i had to wait six months for healing, but i was rebanded in nov 2007. so far this one is doing great. but, in answer to your question, yes, a cough can cause your band to slip.

how was your experience at Scottsdale? I was also banded there and i just love that place. everyone is so helpful and even tho i live in chandler, i dont mind the drive.
-
I love Dr Blackstone. I was rebanded by her in October had I've lost 52lbs to date.
-

Ladies......I need help with the girls!
ethansgrandma replied to georgia girl's topic in The Gals' Room
i have a bra that i absolutely love. its the "oprah" bra, the la mystere dream tisha. i wont wear anything else now. it is very supportive but not painful to wear. you can get them at nordstroms but the bargain shopper that i am, i got mine off of ebay, brand new with tags. you probably need to get a good fitting first tho with this bra, don't really need to buy one there because they do tend to fit you to a tee. -
2nd fill...is this how i'm supposed to feel?
ethansgrandma replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
sometimes you tend to get swollen after a fill. usually after a couple of days, you are able to drink easier. but you are right, it sounds like he did tighten you up quite a bit. -
Outside of the normal holiday non-diets, like everyone else, I have also been struggling with night snacking. I have still been eating the goodies during the day, not as much thankfully, but at night is when it has been getting to me. For some reason I just cant kick this one. I will snack on things sometimes until 11 at night. I know this is wrong, but I still continue to do it. I need some suggestions. We are starting back to the gym today after a very busy holiday season so I know that will help some, but I just need to get this one under control. When I came into work this morning i immediately moved all the snack things away from the desks. Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so, any suggestions?

Great suggestions, i did get a bath and body works gift card for christmas, so i am gonna get some of those gloves. and i just need to restock my frige with good stuff instead of junk. i also have a 10cc band and right now im at about 6. my next appt is next friday and i was gonna get another fill, but im not sure if i will. right now im trying to get over a cold and have been coughing. im afraid if i get another fill when im still coughing like this, i will end up slipping my band again and lord knows i dont want to go thru that again. thanks guys for your suggestions. keep them coming, im up for change.
