Just follow the diet they give you. Its amazing how fast extra weight will start to fall off, especially Water weight. Considering how difficult it is to adjust to eating normal foods again, you will realize once you are looking at your Protein intake, just how much you were eating before. Believe it or not, the discomfort actually helps you make smarter choices. You look for the most amount of taste, nutrition and calories very quickly. -

Hey guys. I just wanted to thank you all for the helpful links, tips and advice that this forum provided pre and post op. It was thanks to the testimony of many of you that I decided to get the surgery. I was sleeved on Nov. 7th and as of this day have lost a total of 51.5 lbs (starting weight was 352 and currently 300.5) Cant wait to put off more! Thanks again! -

Nov. 7th surgery day here. I couldnt really do the protein shakes. I ended up mixing protein powder with SF/LF chocolate pudding. -
Doed it really hurt?
MelancholyRoar replied to Siyaa Ela's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also at least for me, there was really any pain from the incessions themselves. At least not the sharp pain we associate with being cut. Rather the closest thing is what it feels like to get a really deep bruise. Im 2 weeks out and only have very minor pain and only if I bend down too low. -
Where is the weight coming off?
MelancholyRoar posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I started the pre-OP liquid diet on Nov 1 at 351 lbs. In the past two weeks Ive cut roughly 26lbs from my overall weight. I was just wondering where do people typically start noticing a difference? -

Liquid phase question
MelancholyRoar replied to Caryn68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shouldnt be an issue at all. Im currently doing this for miso soup -
Hey guys! I had my surgery on Monday, 11/7 and am coming up to my first full week post-op. I was up on my feet roughly 8 hours after surgery and had absolutely no difficulty walking 12hrs from surgery. I have had little difficulty taking down liquids, with the exception of Water for the first few days. Also I was dumb and had some Thai Tom Kha (chicken Coconut Milk Soup) that didnt go well with the stomach but I think that was because of all the oil and fat that probably was in it. Most of my Protein I seem to be getting from a combo of pudding and Protein powder. I cant stand the Protein shakes already because I was on a pre-OP diet of nothing but them. So no after surgery complications, no issues with food going down, no pain, and only moderately struggling with head hunger. I feel like from the feedback from friends and family that have likewise gotten the surgery that this is going almost too smooth and just waiting for SOMETHING to happen. This bother anyone else?

Pre Op liquid Diet Failure!
MelancholyRoar replied to yesica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
^This for sure. Happened to one of the patients in the wing where I was recovering in. Doctor started in and found the liver to large and shut down the surgery. -
Hey guys, Im barely starting my full liquid diet and already dreaming about the next few stages as liquids jus seem mentally..... less filling? I was wondering though if there was a risk in us eating uncooked Protein in later stages of the diet, spepecifically fish.

Protein in pudding?
MelancholyRoar replied to mnopali's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes yes and yes! This is easily the best way I get my Protein down. -
Premier protein
MelancholyRoar replied to jserna6628's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Careful with that banana. Even one has a bunch of carbs and my dietitian advised me to strongly avoid them. -
Driving after surgery
MelancholyRoar replied to Heatgirl03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really not suppose to driving after anesthesia and while you are prescribed opiates that cause drowsiness. Check your prescription labels. -
Homemade Shakes vs Store bought?
MelancholyRoar replied to MelancholyRoar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far Ive only used Muscle Milk (though I did cheat a bit with Smoothie King's Gladiator) in my Pre-Op diet. Maybe Ill check out Premier since so many people seem to be using that.
