14 days post op 6 wks Pregnant
gryffen replied to Marcella Restrepo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get onto your doctor immediately and organise consultant led care. Find out if pregnancy test was done, if results were recorded and get legal advice. Hoping all is OK but you will probably be advised to expect a loss but also advised to ignore weight loss for time being due to surgery, healing etc. -
6 months out and sleep is terrible
gryffen replied to facebro29's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Check your b12 levels. Everyone who has sleeve or bypass surgery in Scotland is automatically put onto b12 injections every 3 months. I have. Pernicious anemia to begin with and a symptom that tells me I'm running low is a bloody awful bout of insomnia. Hope that helps. -
I get sweaty boob rash (it's annoying) and hydrocortisone cream such as canasten works really well. I use potassium permanganate baths for when my intertrigo flares up which kills it immediately

ANYONE START PRE-OP LIQUID DIET TODAY TOO
gryffen replied to pastbandedsleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Start mine on 3rd April and surgery is 18th. Since we don't have anything like Bariatric advantage or premier protein I found a descent meal replacement by Morrison's and Asda (Walmart to US peeps!) Think it maybe all liquid or maybe food included. Gonna be a long 15 days lol -
H-pylori 1 month post op
gryffen replied to Sugarnspice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We get tested for it and if positive surgery is delayed 8 weeks til antibiotics have cleared it and endoscopy is redone. Thankfully I was clear -
Self Control with Food addicts
gryffen replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you know you are a food addict and have major problems with a food group then I would suggest a Psych evaluation to determine what's gonna work for you. The sleeve does Jack sh*t for addictions so it's all down to willpower and therapy. In our program our psychiatrist will not even consider sending a referral to the surgeon if he suspects addiction or white lies being told to cover up issues - it's why so many fail after surgery because they believe the sleeve does everything for them. Wishing you the best! -
I have told immediate family due to the way our weight loss programme works but I won't tell my parents in law as they will judge and try and get it stopped. We don't have a great relationship anymore and I know I will get all sorts of comments and being called a burden to my very supportive hubby is just a nono

Our programme is totally different in Scotland, 18 months of classes and if you lose 10lbs your automatically out. Surgery only available if you don't loose 10lbs in an added 8 week class. Ten years after referral I'm being sleeved on 18th April.

YAY! Glasgow here! -
Did anyone else get nightmares/vivid dreams during their 2-week liquid diet?
gryffen replied to G33kg1rl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start my diet on 1st April and have heard of this, whether it's to do with being in such a low calorie diet or just your body going through a detox it's fascinating! Would love to hear other people's journeys on this! -
Band didn't work, now time for sleeve
gryffen replied to Lynnford's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi lynn where you hail from? That's the major issue I have with bands, IMHO they are a waste of time as far too many complications from them etc. April 18th for me - any date yet for you? -
Down to infection risk, it's a 12 month wait here if you get a tattoo for surgery unless it's life threatening.

C'mon doc/nut....No nailpolish!
gryffen replied to 10stackzz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah she point blank refused and now has to wait 18 months before they will touch her again. -

Pissed Off and Rebelling
gryffen replied to clevergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How do you think I feel. It's taken me 10 years (5 rounds of weight managment in Scotland) to get this far and I'm only 5 weeks away from surgery. Totally get the annoyance but at the point where your surgery is done it will be like "oh, that's why!" [emoji16] -

Friend had her surgery cancelled when she was lying on the table as she refused to take off her false nails. -
It's practice here to remove gallbladder at same time if it's flared up. I had mine removed 6 years ago and the pain is worse than childbirth. My surgeon is removing my appendix instead.

Quite litterly D Day! [emoji16] I'm 18th April, start liver diet on 30th March.

Surgery is a week away and I'm getting over a cold...
gryffen replied to vsg2266's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try some menthol chrystals in hot water to clear the nose (or Vick's vaporub) only reason they would cancel is if breathing was a concern -
Depends where you are in the UK as every PCT is different. Current date for surgery for me is 18th April and it's taken me 10 years to get this far. Glasgow/Scotland you have to do a long course before your considered for surgery and that's only if you don't lose more than 10lbs.

This is happening and I'm crying!!!
gryffen replied to Crafty-in-Carolina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh plenty lass, and you could add more if you can buy it separately but not sure on FDA rules since I'm in Scotland. I'm 34 and going bald but with a better 5 o'clock shadow than the hubby thanks to PCoS. It's a Scottish thing but YOU are gonna be amazing so rock on and wiggle! Fridge Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers -

I have alopecia due to pcos so I do understand what your going through. My best advice is taking your vitamins but also ensure they contain Selenium as it helps strengthen nails, hair etc. Do NOT try Nioxin. I've tried and hundreds of other people will testify to the chemical burns they received as it is so strong. As for hair, it will return but time for some basic treatments like banana & beer hair smoothies, just add to dry hair and clingfilm for an hour then wash out. A good hairdresser will also be or have contact with a scalp specialist - speak to them and get any length out the hair as it will pull on the roots and make them weaker. My hair loss is the crown, scalp very noticeable and I don't GAF anymore as I'm used to it. Good luck Fridge Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers [emoji200] -

Anyone else allergic to medical tape/bandages?
gryffen replied to biginjapan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried Meopore dressing as its adhesive? Hypoallergenic paper tape is good too. Your irritant is actually very common and it's a reason why people here aren't allowed to keep plasters etc in a FA box (yeah I know) incase a reaction happens and your sued. If a major issue go speak to your doctor and ask for suggestions. Fridge Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers [emoji200] -
As someone with a hubby with PKD urine tests are normal for us so I've got experience here. Protein can be a sign of issues in large amounts but bilirubin is more signs of liver issues. Could honestly be no issue and will be clear next test but better to get checked. Oh bilirubin in urine is what detected my gallbladder as its a sign the bile is blocked.
