    Why am I so hungry!

Wow. I was nowhere near that restrictive. The plan was a little wishy washy. 1-3 or 5 days clear; 4-9 days full; week 2 soft foods; weeks 3-6 regular foods. I've read a lot of posts that are much more restricted and am concerned that having been so liberal, I could have screwed up the band. I did lose weight but am not sure if it is due to the band or just my fear of eating too much. I had first fill last week and have actually been eating more-I wasn't given any restrictions after fills. I haven't weighed since the fill and am a little afraid to now.

    Why am I so hungry!

I had my first fill last Wednesday and am hungry. I feel like I am able to eat more but it isn't staying with me long enough. I hear you all say you are just starting to eat mushies. After surgery, how long were you on clear, then full liquids, then soft foods and finally regular food? Also, when you have a fill, does your Dr put you back on liquids for a couple of days or do you continue to eat regularly?

    Colorado Anyone

I'm a little less than an hour Northeast of Colorado Spgs. Dr K is in Aurora, about 20-30 min North of me.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

You people are a hoot! I'm glad I stumbled on these particular posts. Been laughing for the last 10 minutes. But seriously, I am a newbie on this site and could use a class in figuring out how to use it. Could you maybe send one or more of the guinea pigs over here to help me figure it out???
  9. I started riding my own bike in Sept '07. At 5'2" I wanted a low seat height. I chose a Honda Shadow VLX 600. It was an awesome starter bike. Not too heavy, in control with my feet firmly planted on the ground and plenty of power to feel safe on the highway. I live in Colorado and soon realized it didn't have the power I wanted to keep up with the "big boys" in the Rockies and also, after a couple of long weekend trips, I decided I wanted more comfort for long hauls. I now have a 1500 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic. It's really comfortable and can definitely keep up with and even blow past some of those "big boys" I ride with. My advice would be not to go smaller than a 600 to start with. If riding becomes an addiction for you the way it does for a lot of us, you will outgrow the smaller bike too quickly. The comment about the bigger bikes being too heavy to pick up if dropped should not be a concern. There is a video that teaches a technique that will allow a 5'1"-110 lb woman to pick up any bike, including a Goldwing. Definitely take the beginner rider class and then enjoy the ride! Good luck.

    First Fill

I just had my first fill. 6cc in a 14cc band. I am unsure what "restriction" should feel like and am not sure if I am filled too much or not enough.More concerned that I may not ever be able to figure that very important piece out. I am actually just now eating breakfast and think I am experiencing signs of restriction.Sort of a big "air bubble" and discomfort. I ate a scrambled egg and piece of bacon.I usually eat slow but may have taken this too quickly. I would really appreciate any and all comments from some of you more "mature" lapbanders. Thanks.
  11. My band capacity is 14cc. I had it done on 2/7.The Dr did not put any fill in at time of surgery. I just had my first fill this week. Filled to 6cc. I have lost weight however have also wondered if the band is working because I have felt some restriction, I think, but if I eat really slow and chew really well, I haven't had any problems. Wendell's explanation is very encouraging.
  12. I totally love Harleygirl's view on the evolution of "normal". I too hope to be able to eat "normal" foods but in reasonable quantities however, I so desperately want to make peace with my body after all these years that I am willing to accept some sacrifices that may come. I was banded on 2/7 and just had my first fill. I'm not sure it's tight enough. I am not starving but sometimes hungry. I may not be eating enough but I also fear eating too much. Not quite sure how this is supposed to feel yet.
  13. :tea: Hi, my name is Sharon. I was Banded on 2/7 by Dr Kirschenbaum in Aurora, Colorado. I had my first fill this week on Wednesday and attended a meeting where I learned about this site. Wish I had known about it before. I've lost 30 lbs since my first Dr appt in January. 20 lbs since the surgery. I'm on a journey and looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel and the sparkles in between.
