Actually, yes! If your state offers it, as Texas does, take the Motorcycle Safety Course. You spend a day in the classroom and a day on a bike. In Texas, the company that gives the course also has to furnish the bikes. You have to have a helmet, gloves and lace up boots. When you finish the two day course you will be sure whether you want to be a rider or a driver. Good luck and keep the rubber side down.

*My* *New* *Bike*, I think I'm in LOVE

Nice! I'm thinking you have to have rear view mirrors to get it registered and inspected in Texas. Be careful, you don't want to get to looking good just in time to crash and burn, ok? -
OK, Carol, here we go again. ROT is June 11-14. Got my tickets and hotel reservations (Crown Plaza). Got the vacation time. Good to see you posting again. Welcome to the newbies. I'm the horndog, fatherly type (wink, wink). Haven't gotten to ride as much as I'd like, but the weather is warming up, woooohoooooo! Going to the Hawgs of Texas rally at Lake Somerville the last weekend of April. Maybe I'll see you there. That's the rally where EVERYBODY gets naked.....LOL
-
THG, sorry it has been a while since I came in here. Lots of traveling and shopping going on. I guess that's what I get for living out in the sticks. I noticed they have moved the Lone Star Rally back to the middle of the month....right into the weekend I have to work the night shift, dang it! I never have been down there for the rally. I would imagine it is still pretty tore up from the hurricane. Maybe next year????

Hmmmmm, two years to ride around and look for the perfect position... Not sure I could do that. I prefer riding to the coal mine every other day, no matter what the weather. Making sure that the folks in Dallas have electricity. NOT ! ! ! Sorry to hear that you have to start all over, Carol. But it could be a good thing, too. Here's hoping.

Well, hi CJ ! Good to see you and congratulations with the surgery. Hopefully everything is going well? I have managed a couple of very short rides in the past week, but mostly to and from work. I put on a slightly larger jacket and climb on and brave the cooler temps. I think it was down in the upper 40's when I rode home Sunday morning. Thank goodness it's only ten miles to the house.
-
OK, where the heck is everyone? I noticed that I was the LAST ONE to post in here and that was back on SEPTEMBER THE 11TH. Sheesh! I'm glad someone is getting to ride. It has been raining a bit here and I've been close to the home fires. ?????????????????????????Anybody????????????????????????????

Carol, glad to see that you made it back in one piece. I'll bet that was a fantastic party up in Milwaukee. Did you take plenty of pictures? Too bad Gustav had to screw up your plans, but you could always wait for Ike to hit and then go for a ride....LOL I'm kidding, don't do that. As for the ride to Deal's Gap, I'm all for it. You should have gone ahead and did it. The best time is during the week, like a Wednesday. The day I rode down there were very few bikes and even fewer cars. I didn't feel so bad going so slow. Made me realize that the Roadking isn't made for fast cornering...lol Still had a permanent smile for about 4 days. Listen, you've got my number. You get up this way, give me a shout. If I'm not at work I'll come meet you.

KatsenD, we didn't go, but talked to a couple from here that went up there. They were gone 18 days and covered 4200+ miles. Said they had a fantastic time. Went up into Canada for a few days and came back down thru the Black Hills. They were at the local cafe eating supper. Hadn't even been home, yet. Both of them had smiles about as wide as the Mississippi river....LOL Check with Ridin'MyHarleyDream, Carol, she was going up that way, too. Of course, she's a little crazy....She road a Sportster to Sturgis last year from SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS. And did I mention she has an Iron butt, too.....hehehe (love ya, carol)

CJ, good luck tomorrow on that approval. I'm sure you'll get it. And as far as the new Harley goes...some of the older ones ride just as sweet. Mother Maybelle has taken me on some looooong rides with nary a problem. She waits till we get home to blow a gasket or lose a shoe. Let us know how the approval thing goes. Carol, where the heck are you? You didn't decide to stay in Milwaukee, did you? I need to hear some riding stories, seeing as how I didn't take a loooong vacation this year. Talked to a couple yesterday, from here, that just got back from up there and then some. They did 4200+ miles in 18 days. They were pooped, but you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces with sandpaper...LOL Where are you, girl????

Well, hi Debbie. Welcome to the boards. You can bet that it will make the riding easier on your hubby. Joy is down about a hundred and the one thing we've noticed the most is the ease with which she mounts up...on the bike, I mean. It use to be a tough stretch for her, swinging her leg over the tour pack, but now....nooooo problem. She'll mount up quicker than a squirrel up a tree. I haven't ridden through the City of Brotherly Love...much scenery to see up that way? You two get down Texas way, try to hit the Hill Country down around Austin, ok?
-
Hey Carol....ROT stories, eh??? Well...The concert was great! The parade was great! Good riding, good food, lots of pics (that I can't put on here, lol) Got a tattoo! Right after Austin, we took off and went to Vegas on a "family" vacation. There were 10 of us all together and I will NEVER do that again. Came out about even on the gambling, but everything else cost us. But still came back with about half of our money. I sent all the girls (8 of them) to the spa at the Hilton for the day. The busiest person there was the cabana boy and the cocktail waitress...LOL Just got Maybelle back from the HD in Waco. She blew a shoe while I was at work. Tried some "Fix-a-flat" but that did NOT work. Loaded her up in the truck (won't do that again, either. Not enough truck for the RoadKing) and took her over yesterday. Turned out to be a pinched tube that the dealer installed. So all I was out was the time to drive over there twice. But the trade off was the ride home. Hot, dry, sunny and finer than frogs hair. Sorry to hear about your dramas. I'm sure you will get back on track in no time. Joy is still losing ssssllllllooooooowwwly. She is down 89 lbs. She is talking about going to the gym to help rev up her metabolism, but she has been talking about it for about a month, too....LOL Oh well, at least the scale isn't going up.

MyKdsDad replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Becky, I was wondering what old lady you got to stand still and lift up her skirt so that you could take a picture of her legs?
