jport, I'm the DH, my wife, Joy, is the banded one. I get to be the support team.

Yes, air and volume. Your stomach is healing and large amount of anything could cause further trauma. IMHO

Helen, what I've seen happen with several people is up to the individual. You just have to decide what or how much you want to try and get away with. My wife has NOT even touched white bread, but she has had corn bread and a little pizza dough. She has trouble with white rice, but not mexican rice. She has even had spaghetti and mac and cheese, so go figure. Some individuals couldn't get down a cracker. Joy has trouble with scrambled eggs. They stick like glue. She's been able thus far to pass them on through, but I don't think you could force her to eat one right now....LOL

The sipping thing is important because you shouldn't be gulping water. Small sips are preferable. And you always want to stay hydrated. So if you can't gulp you have to ....... you get the idea. As for the quick weight loss, everyone is different. Right now the thing is to HEAL. Don't worry about weight loss. Some people actually even gain a little during this time. So if you are losing, you are indeed fortunate.

Janet, we had a great time! And you're right, the food was delicious. But the best part was the company. Everyone is looking fantastic! I can't wait for Anita to get those pictures loaded up on here. -
Is coke really off the list for good?
MyKdsDad replied to jport1975's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, just the carbonated water in the soft drink.... :-) -
Yeah, Carol, I saw the update and I can't wait. The two times we've been down for ROT we stay at the Extended Stay Deluxe, on I-35, just north (and I mean barely north) of Hwy 183. I found a way to get to the rally using the side streets. We only have to get on the highway to get to the turn off to the fairgrounds. There is a WalMart just around the corner and the folks there have always been very accomodating. Last year, while everyone was trying to get downtown, we were at the Congress street bridge watching the bats come out for the night. T Totally awesome sight!

Sheesh, people. You didn't gain your weight overnight or even from one month to the next. Don't expect your band to make it "fall off". When you have a fill, you are traumatizing your stomach. Give it a chance to heal. Believe me, you don't want to discover that you are too tight after one fill. Some people don't feel their fill kick in for a couple of weeks. Give it time. Patience.....

Carlene, I had to laugh at your post because Joy is considered (in our family circle) as the queen of the "burnt" bread. The saying is, "Joy is burning the bread, again." LOL
-
Carol, congratulations on getting your clearance to ride. And the weather is cooperating to an extent, but you better get it in today. Tomorrow they're calling for rain. Just take it easy, you don't need to screw something up by over doing it.

Bishop, are you going to post some before and after pictures that we can all admire and drool over???

*sniffle* Helen, we'll miss you. Anyone else who would like to join in, feel free. -
That's right, skbishop, use us and then discard us. We were soooo good together. The long talks. The mutual support. I know, I know, things change. And you changed for the best. And we are soooooo glad that you did. And if ANYONE takes this as being serious, get a grip! LOL But I am happy for you and your success.

I'll bet we can do that!!!! Be sure to wear something complimentary to that new figure of yours. -
Carol, sounds to me like the band changed more than your weight. You two should hook up with the Run for the Wall and ride to Washington, D.C. They leave out of Ontario, CA. This year it should be somewhere around the 16th or 17th??? Ten days to DC!!!

Janet, add DonnaB and Mike. I'm sending her the details because, as she puts it, she doesn't come around LBT much any more. See you Saturday. -

*waving to Divanita* Hi gang! Count me and Joy in, too!!! Janet, we looked at your pics and they are FANTASTIC. You're lookin' good, girl! Now if we can just get Divanita to put up some.... ThickChick, bring it on sugar. We would be glad to have you join us. -
Okey dokey and as for the helmet, just talk to your friendly auto paint shop. They should be able to paint your helmet in nothing flat AND they should be able to match it to the color of your bike. All they need is the 'House of Color' color and your Harley dealer should be able to supply you with that. My bike always looked brown and gold to me until I found out that it is actually Midnight Red and Champagne Gold.

Well dang, Janet, you could be my wife if you weren't you. Joy has been at 256 since last August. Same restriction and everything... She's headed in for a doctor's visit and maybe another fill on March 8th. I mean, she's been on a plateau for 6 months. Let's do lunch!!!

Any of my DFW band buddies still around?
MyKdsDad replied to JanetC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Where the heck have you been???? All this time we hear nothing and suddenly, whamm-O, you appear. We're glad to see you and can't wait to hear what has been going on, K? -
Yes, but I haven't found a pair that will fit well, read comfortable, under my helmet. Yes, I'm one of those. At 70, they will be able to find my head, at 35 or 40 I might survive it, so.......
-
Oh yeah....Hi Skye... Carol, I usually sing Bob Seger or ZZTop. You've got to love those drum riffs in "La Grange". (Am I showing my age, now??? LOL) Joy got me a MP3 player last year, but I still can't hear it over the sound of the wind and the pipes.
-
Good idea, Geri. Joy does a week of liquids and a week of mushies after a fill. Not her idea, her doctor's. But I must say, she has NEVER had a problem with a fill, either.
-
We will be at the ROT this year, too, Carol. I usually come down on Thurs and MsJoy follows me after work on Friday. Go to the rally, ride some of the Hill Country, go to the concert on Saturday night and watch all the crazy people riding around nekkid. Go home on Sunday. But this year, she is going home, I'm heading over to Garner State Park for a couple of days. (I've always wanted to go over there for some reason.) The only hint I can give you is to "listen" (feel) what your body is telling you. Joy can eat just about anywhere, she just doesn't eat as much and sometimes it goes down, some times not. Last year we did the County Line BBQ, just outside of Austin and she had noooooooo problems. (and their bread pudding is to kill for.) Maybe we will see you at the rally..... *HI BETTY*
