Need advice on how to tell my mom to quit the rude LB remarks
MyKdsDad replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually, I was thinking that you should mention to her (after one of her little jabs) that you don't want to wind up like her... -
Dang skippy, Carlene!!! I think all of you should get a wind turbine for the back yard, solar panels for the roof and a pedal powered washing machine. Be sure to chop plenty of wood for cooking and heating in the winter, too. No wait! The wood would be polluting, so no wood burning. You could put in one of those underground residences. 65 degrees all the time down there. Just have to wear a big sweater all the time. Live close to your work and the grocery store...wait! Too much wasted energy growing that food. You should put in a garden and learn how to can. But you have to have heat to can, so..... but then you could eat nothing but raw vegetables, until they quit growing, but then..... It's all making my head hurt. (He said with a grin and a wink)

Am I the only one to notice that ILuvHarleys (Betty) passed DeLarla for the most posts by one person??? :omg: Congratulations, Betty!!!! WooooHooooo!!! :clap2: :faint:

Well, she did a stress test, blood work, psych evaluation, ekg. The doctor that did the stress test put her on some blood pressure meds, but she has been off of them for about a year, now. If I remember correctly, that was about the extent of it. The pre-op diet was liquids for two weeks prior to surgery. They told us this was in order to shrink the liver a bit to facilitate the band surgery a little easier. My wife was banded by Dr. J from Richardson, TX.

Hey Carol, yes, we're getting some great weather. I spent 4 hours washing and polishing on the Harley today. I've still got to get it waxed. I neglected it for a while and the poor girl was covered in pollen. I figure if I can get it waxed good tomorrow, I might not have to do it again until sometime in June. I'm here to tell you, that baby is SHININ'. Joy (my wife) came in from work and after all this time, made the comment that that is one nice lookin' bike. I have to admit, I agree with her.

I hear you. We got awakened last night by the front passing through. Big thunderbumpers, but not much rain. I'm still trying to convince myself that I need to go to Sturgis. I've already put the vacation time down on the books. I even found a cabin at a KOA camp for a reasonable price. Maybe ROT will motivate me. Excellent idea on the backrest bags. Those long trips get easier when you can change positions and still reach everything. I've got a couple of backpacks that I use. Strap them to the seat and head out.

Doing great, Carol. Watching the rain come down in buckets. I guess you saw all the reports about the rain around Corsicana? I'm just south of there, ugh. But I did get all my reservations for ROT, so I'm sitting on go.

What does 200 Calories look like?
MyKdsDad replied to Rockn4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
More than a hundred calories, but less than three hundred calories??? -
One last bump before we leave to go to Dallas. See you at 5:00.

Neveragain, Arizona is one of the best areas to ride. I use to live in Yuma. When I was out there, I had a Honda 350 Street/Trail bike. The desert is a nice place to ride.

Bump, again.

I wanted to bump this thread back up to the top for all of the bandsters that are in the DFW area. We will be getting together on Saturday, the 24th of March, at Pappas BBQ. We aren't a formal group, just a bunch of folks that have similar goals. The food at Pappas' is great! But the best part is the people we get to meet and visit with. So everyone that wants, come on out for a while.
-
Carol, so far, no reservations at all. Still contemplating whether Joy will be joining me there or I will be doing the whole trip on my own. I guess the priority right now is ROT. I got all the details worked out for that just a couple of days ago.

I just wanted to throw this out there for anyone who might be interested. The folks at Dr. Jayaseelan's office in Richardson are going to have a CLOTHES SWAP in the cafeteria of Building A, Medical City on April 5th at 6:00 pm. You don't have to give to receive and you don't have to take if you give. I believe they said that whatever was NOT taken would be donated to the Salvation Army. If you are in the DFW area and would like some clothes to pass the waystations along your journey, come give it a try.

Lauriann, my wife has a Vanguard band and we were told that it could hold as much as 14.5 cc. Today was her 7th fill, she's now up to 12.75 cc. Her first was somewhere in the neighborhood of 6, so the answer to your question is yes.
-
Carol, this will be my first time up there too. I've got a few stories from some of the people that I work and ride with, but that is about it.
-
enterprise, think about it. They give you a shot of saline solution, with or without flouro. Takes, what, 3, 4, maybe 5 minutes and charge your insurance $1000. Or if you pay, $100 to $250??? How greedy is that?

Live and learn. My wife's doctor provides a small paper cup of water that she must consume before we leave the office. Looking at it from a business point of view... You've got several hundred (in a week) fat people running around looking for a bottle of water. You set it up so that you profit from that, too. I'm sure he gets a cut from the deli. Also, if he provided for every patient that needed a drink, that would cut into his profits...

Hey Janet, did Divanita send her after picture to you, also? She really needs to put it in the Before and After thread.
-
John, congratulations! And Nana, good luck! I'm sure everything will be fine. I believe everyone gets a bit nervous, it's normal.
-
dec0578, congratulations! Welcome to Bandlandia! May you shrink quickly and painlessly. May your days whither away into a long, slim life. Just be careful....I've heard that losing weight leads to more activities. LOL

There were some folks discussing this a while back. I believe they referred to it as "First Bite Syndrome". Something along the lines of locking up with their first bite from the anxiety of a possible PB or getting stuck. I remember thinking, "Yeah, right!" But I have since witnessed something accustom to this in my wife. She has been having a lot of stress at her job, recently. When she is relating it to me, rehashing and dumping her bucket on me, if we are trying to have a meal, she can forget it. She tightens up like a gnat's a$$ stretched over a 55 gallon barrel. So your stress/anxiety level has a lot to do with it. (my 2 cents worth)

Yes ma'am, all are welcome. And bring your appetite, the barbeque is quite good, too.
-
Janet, Joy and I will be doing a family thing in Plano that afternoon, but we intent to be there for dinner. Barring my having to work mandatory overtime. You know how people in Dallas get when the lights go out......sheeeeeesh! hehehe
-
You go, Brandy! Since losing her weight, Joy can get on and off the Roadking so much easier and that really helps. Carol, when the time gets closer maybe we can set up a meeting. And I promise not to look at the nekkid people at the rally......much. LOL
