That was the encouragement part. As for the advice....You can eat anything that you can tolerate. Some of it may not be good for your weight loss but a little celebrating is always in order. Just don't overdo. My wife's doctor even told her that she could do steak after 6 months. She hasn't had but just a few well cut up (shredded) pieces, but no problems. And be sure that you keep a well stocked spice rack. Lose well!

Hi Susie, congratulations! And welcome to LBT. I promise, barring any major complications, you will be feeling normal (what's normal) in short order. Just remember, right now you are healing. Don't worry about losing or getting back to work. Those things will come. You are probably swollen a bit and that would account for the lack of hunger. My wife is a real weinie when it comes to pain and she managed to get back to the salt mine after a long weekend. If you have any questions, just ask away. I know that there is someone here who will give you an answer or direct you to someone who can. Lose well!

James, congratulations on getting some restriction. My wife had to go back for 6 fills. She is now at 12.75 cc. She's tight in the mornings. At lunch, it depends on her anxiety level from work (her boss is a pr!ck). For dinner she can usually get down about a cup or so. In all her time with the band she has only had two episodes with sliming (no pb's yet). The only suggestion that I might make is, be careful with the bread products. Pizza dough, crackers, pastas have a tendency to "ball" up. Lose well!

Nancy, my wife could NOT stand the taste of any of the protein drinks, either. She found a powder that you order over the internet. It's unflavored. She adds it to all kinds of things. Usually she has it with her carnation instant breakfast. I believe it delivers 20 grams of protein per scoop (about 1.5 teaspoons). It is called Unjury powder. Order it at www.unjury.com . We ordered it quite a bit and never had any problem with the good folks at Unjury.

Mrs D, I was going to ask who or what Dundee is, but after noticing the UK post, I'm going to guess that Dundee is a football team. Yes??? (That would be a soccer team to anyone in the US...LOL)

Welcome Vickie! If you have any questions, ask away. I know that there are plenty of people here with the answers. And some that will make up an answer or two as they go along. LOL For now, heal well, don't worry about losing, sip your water and don't forget the Gas-X.

Amaara, I would say that the answer to your last question is "NO". That is, as long as your knees and ankles hold out. Jogging is very high impact and you risk some joint trauma. Also, "NO" if you don't mind a bland diet for the rest of your life. I'm sure there are plenty of people in here that know that "FAT TASTES DELICIOUS"! It is what puts the cream in ice cream and the "beef" in a steak. And your body loves it so much, that it will take any leftover carbs and sugars and turn them into fat stores. So....NO....you don't have to have the surgery. IMHO

The day I rode through there, I met a foursome of young men that were zipping up and down the mountain. I passed off their speed as riding crotchrockets. I learned at one of the stopping spots that they live down at the bottom of the mountain and they make that run 5 or 6 times a day when they aren't in school.

Mmmmmm, Maryville! Right at the bottom of the Dragon's Tail. Been there, done that, would love to do it again.

Thanks Carol. Yeah, it was a bit of a weepy day. We had about 35 bikes show up from the Patriot Guard Riders (www.patriotguard.org) They put out a big display of flags and escorted my friend out of town on his "last ride". The preacher got a little long winded for a funeral (IMHO). The weather was fantastic. I had a good ride after to blow the cobwebs out of my head. And I didn't run out of gas, either. Come on 3 weeks!!!

Thank you, Alexandra. I have been looking for my "reps" but was unable to locate them. And then today, they're gone. Thanks for clearing it up.

Carol, LMAO, it's a biatch, ain't it??? I did it once with my Honda, reached down to put it on the reserve and guess what??? It was already ON reserve! Well d@mn! Fortunately, I was at the top of the hill and the gas station was at the bottom. Still had to push that sucker quite a bit, but I got there. Thank goodness for fuel injection and warning lights. That light comes on at a quarter tank and I start lookin' for a service station.

Going to ride with the Patriot Guard Riders tomorrow for the funeral of a good friend. One of our local police offiers that lost his lifelong battle with cancer. We had a benefit ride for him two years ago and he's been living on borrowed time, ever since.

Ride it like you stole it! Slide in at the Pearly Gates and tell Saint Peter, "Hell yeah, what a ride!" Keep your knees in the wind...!

Confused and bewildered...your opinion?
MyKdsDad replied to Texas Teacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Renee... I just wanted to say that if it was that simple for most of the people in here....well, they wouldn't be in here. My wife is like you. She can lose weight with the best of them. And it all comes back, plus. With her band, she is changing her habits about eating. And even if she starts to slip back into that OLD way, her band reminds her. Even prevents her from doing those "bad" things. If after a long, hard fought battle with the legions of calories and carbs, you have managed to stand on the field of victory and proclaim your new low weight, but drop your guard for just a moment in time, most people will find those evil-doers once again marching to your defeat and gain. But with this wonderful tool, it will always be there to protect your weight and remind you that the battle may have been won, but the war goes on, always. -
Kerry, maybe I'm a bit slow....Is the surgeon requiring you to lose 10 pounds? Or are you speaking in general terms? If that is the case, that is what this procedure is all about. No, getting the band placed will not magically make you lose. But with the adjustments, it will allow you to adjust your eating habits so that you CAN lose those pounds.

First off, my wife has a devil of a time with scrambled eggs and I notice that both of your episodes involved eggs???? Secondly, sounds to me like your tummy is complaining about the lack of substance. Perhaps a little more fiber in your diet?? But keep in mind that I'm just a guy who works in a coal mine, not a doctor. Maybe HE could give you a bit more insight in to what is going on down there?

Yes! Fantastic! (and I enjoy it too), Yes! Yes!

Are VG bands really less likely to slip?
MyKdsDad replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alexandra, in the 15 months since Joy's surgery, I can tell you that she has only slimed twice. She experiences some left shoulder pain when she gets hungry (referred pain). Go figure??? Her last fill got her up to 12.75 cc and she has been having first bite syndrome. Just a bite or two and she locks up and has to wait for it to "slide on down". That's about it. -
