Back home and MsJoy is "banded, mark of the losers sword...." (sung to the tune from that old TV show with Chuck Connors) She went in about 7:30 this morning and we had a two hour drive home. She's resting at the moment, but I'll get her up to do some walking and her breathing treatment. -
We made it home about 2:00 this afternoon. Not bad for surgery at 7:30 and a two hour drive home. MsJoy is resting. She's being a trooper with the spirometer and the walking. No problems so far.

Dody, I'm not sure where you are, we're in Texas. Our surgery is outpatient. Dr J instructed her as to what she should do to ward off clotting and respiratory problems. Walking around and D-E-E-P breathing. Since my wife is the first of the day, we're thinking we should get out about 1:00 pm then a two hour drive back home.

Bekah, we didn't have to go thru the Psych test. The insurance company took our doctor's letter of recommendation as proof of medical necessity. -
Spydr, How was your Christmas? We're headed up to get banded tomorrow. The liquid diet over the holiday was NOT a good thing, but MsJoy did very well. Better than I would have, me thinks. Ruthie, I can't believe that you want to lose 13 pounds by March 30th. The way you're going it will be waaaaaaaaaaay before March, not to mention the 30th.

Kathy, my DW is getting banded tomorrow, also. I'm going to try and get her home before too much of the anesthesia (sp) wears off. She's really going to hate me when I pull off the highway and make her walk around the car a few times and do 10 deep breaths....doctor's orders. Good luck and here's to seeing less of you, later on :-)

OK, leaving today to spend the night in Dallas for surgery tomorrow. She's the first one of the day. Gotta be there at 6:15 for a 7:15 OR time. Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. I'll get back as soon as I can. -

My wife has been on liquids for the last 6 days, through Christmas. Her surgery is the 28th also. At Pine Creek in Dallas. About the only thing she has told me is that she wants to chew her fingernails. -
Christine, MsJoy's DH here, she's the front desk. They have no computers in their office so they do everything by hand. EVERYTHING! She has been at it for a little over three years. Two Doctors. Four Hygenists.

Carrie, MsJoy here, I have worked in a Dental office now going on 4 years. The reason for the antibiotics is to make sure an infection does not occur, possibly causing the foreign object that is in your body now to be rejected. Having your teeth cleaned is a very invasive process. They are scraping many bacteria off of your teeth, with the antibiotics on board, you should be fine from any infections.

Thanks Jack. She tells me today that it was a toughie. I asked what she did and she said she just kept busy. Tomorrow the daughter will be here and the son will arrive tomorrow night. Then Christmas..... -

Yesterday was her pre-op visit with the Dr. He says everything looks good and that MsJoy is on track for surgery on the 28th of Dec. She's doing the 1 week liquid thing. Today was day two. Tomorrow is the make or break day. All day at home by herself...best I can do is call. I have to work. She says although her body is cleansing itself, she's really feeling weak. Any advice? -
Jachut, you can make it go flat by pouring it back and forth between glasses until all the fizz is gone.

I hear ya! So now, the next move for us is MsJoy's pre-op Dr visit on the 22nd. She'll have to make that on her own. I've got to work.

That all depends. Can you afford the loan? Who is the insurance with? (BCBS of TX is approving more these days) Can you carry some weights in your pockets? What the insurance company doesn't know won't hurt them. -

LMAO Now I know what to do. I'm going to eat the same meal she eats then sneak off to my food stash and satisfy myself. Between the band and pre-menopause I won't stand a chance....hehehe Slenda, just do what I heard about the other day, get up and leave the table. He'll get the hint. -
