Sounds like a wonderful vacation, Ruthie....NOT! My suggestion would be the first plane home. Sowwy!

Oh heck, yeah, you're normal (well as normal as most folks....LOL (that's a JOKE!!!)) A few days post-op for my DW, I'm at work in the coal mine and I get a call on the cell. Which is VERY unusual. When I answer, all I hear is IIIIiiiisnivelblowsniffgaspdooooooon'tknowwhatI'mOhjeez..... Yep! Joy's at work having "The Attack". LOL And yes, she got over it and she's fine. And you will be too.

Choosing Protein Sources and Supplements
MyKdsDad replied to PhotoNut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There ya go! And you and Joy are in the same boat. She dislikes tea hot or cold...but I'll tell her about the hot liquid idea. Thanks p'nut! BTW, what kind of camera do you have. I shoot a Minolta Maxxum 450 SL 35 mm. You gotta love that auto focus. -
Uh, Brad!?!?! If I'm not mistaken....It would be a bit difficult to put a gallon of water into a half gallon bucket. Wouldn't it? :biggrin1:

(Have you noticed how many Diannes and Dianes and Dis there are on this forum....hehehe) Thanks Dianne. I had a similar experience when Joy had her gall bladder out. When I went to finish paying my bill at the hospital, the poor woman was surprised that I wanted to pay it off. She went to talk to her supervisor and when she came back they (the hospital) took 30% off of my balance. Go figure!

And something that helped the DW was keeping something in your hand or AT HAND all the time. You might wear out a roll of TP, but that's better than getting dehydrated.

Mmmmm, mmmmmm, Tricia! Lookin' good, honey! You go, girl!

Well, everyone is different, but my wife said she didn't feel even the bee sting. They gave her an injection to numb the port site and then they did the fill. She said she it was a breeze as far as the pain went.

Hi Charlotte, welcome to LBT! As for the size of the bands...I've been told that right now there are basically two sizes. My DW (darling wife) was given the Vanguard band which is the big one. Something like 11 CCs. Then there is the smaller band, which holds a max of 4 cc. And they are all reversible, if by reversible you mean they can be removed.

Thanks Diane for some GOOD information. I've been talking with my insurance lady at the doc's office and basically what she said was, until they come knocking on my door wanting more money, don't worry about it. That's why they have insurance people in the office. They do the calling and negotiating with the insurance company. And, according to her, the lady "we" have is one tough old lady....LOL

Choosing Protein Sources and Supplements
MyKdsDad replied to PhotoNut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Exactly! That is the guide by which my DW chooses her protein. I believe her reference to some of the most absorbable proteins was "but it tastes gross!" And some of it really does. The after taste is what gets me...I mean, I don't want to be going through the after effects 15 minutes from now. Someone give me a piece of gum or something. YUCK! -
Works for me Betty. Joy and I went two years ago (I was going to DC last year) and had a good time. Lots of bikes to look at. Vendor stuff. And Hank Williams Jr. was the headliner.

All things considered, I thought I would ask if anyone is going to attend the Republic of Texas Rally, down in Austin, June 1, 2, 3, & 4. I made reservations for the rally and the hotel today. The rally is $45 and the hotel was $75 a night. And it has a Murphy bed for visitors. Joy is coming down Friday evening. Maybe we'll make the party downtown on 6th Street this year.

Anything but heavy metal or rap. I'm teaching myself guitar and right now I'm working on Rockin' Robin and Ode to Joy.

I see you found out how to do the ticker. Welcome! The stress test was nothing for the wife. Just walking on the treadmill and a couple of heart rate checks.

So that would make you FortunaTina? lol Welcome to LBT and to the start of your new life. Don't worry about losing or gaining right now. Just concentrate on healing up. Follow the doctor's orders.

Just do yourselves a favor and DON'T USE A STRAW. That's what they told my wife in Dallas.

How long do I have to stay on this stinkin' liquid diet? Do you do blind fills or flouro? What about xray and barium swallows? What size and type of band will I receive? How much do you fill on the first time? (depending on size of your band) If I think of more I'll write later.

*salute* will do, Captain! and thanks for the asking Betty.

I took MsJoy to Dr Jayaseelan's office in Dallas yesterday, Feb 2, and she received a 6cc fill in her Vanguard band (11cc total, I'm told). They tried it lying down but the needle was too short and they were out of the loooong needles so they had her stand up. More numbing, then the first part of the fill (3cc). That was when she :faint: . She's very needle phobic. So we layed her back down, since the needle was still stuck in there and the PA gave her another 3cc. When she was feeling a bit better they had her drink a few sips of Water to make sure that it would go down. Told her to do liquids for a week and come back in 6 weeks. We stuck around and attended the support group meeting that evening at 7. The speaker was NOT prepared. What he should have done was sit down and let the oldsters speak. The four ladies right in front of us were all banded the same day, two years ago. They were a hoot. Joy is now down 16 lbs and ready for some serious weight loss. Wish her luck!
