Paula, no bills here yet. Teresa, Joy and I both feel that the surgery was worth way more than what BCBS paid and we'll pay them what we can, but.... Lisa, that sounds like it might be my next move, calling the insurance board or commissioner. I'm not sure what we have here in Texas.
-
Wheetsin, Yes, that's the same issue, after the appeal. I can only hope that you are correct. It just seems unbelievable to us that they can get away with only paying $1700 for the whole friggin' procedure.

MsJoy has been using the Unjury Unflavored powder for the last few days and she LOOOOOOOVES it.

P'nut, and I have the perfect blender for it. It's a Vitamix....stainless steel...reversable...hot or cold. I could turn your pizza into soup for you....LMAO

MsJoy and I were awakened at 5:00 am on Monday morning. My sister was screaming something at my wife and Joy was saying, I'll be right there. When I quized her about what was going on and where was Vickie, she didn't really have any answers. She was going to drive around until she found where she was. She was at the hospital and her husband had just died from a massive heart attack. Dennis was 39. We started making all the arrangements the next day. Tuesday evening, we were at Vickie's house around 10:30 pm, tired and starting to wind down when there was a phone call. The caller told my sister that our mom was being loaded into the ambulance right that minute and would be heading to the hospital. Vickie said, "My mom?" At the ER we found out, after several hours and tests, that she had a "bug" and diverticulitis (sp). They put her in the hospital. We had the funeral on Thursday. Mom was released from the hospital today, Friday. She missed her son-in-laws funeral, but the church made a video tape and she will get to see that. Right before mom got out, Vickie discovered that she has the "bug" and lost all of her lunch (first real meal in about 4 days). This week has really kind of sucked...

Yes, Kathy, my wife was required to do two weeks of liquids so that her liver would shrink. This makes it a bit easier to move it out of the way during your surgery.

Can you imagine getting on her BAD side? hehehe Semper Fi, Crystal~

Anyone go for a while postop without a fill?
MyKdsDad replied to Kell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Joy has had two fills in the last three months and she says that she feels she could eat more NOW than she could right after surgery. I think with the last fill she is at 8cc...go figure! -
Well, having lost over 52 pounds in not quite 3 months, I wouldn't expect you to go for another fill any time too soon, Susan. WAY TO GO P'NUT!!!!! *wink*

Thank you, everyone. As with any death, time will dull the pain and temper our memories. Mom is home, sleeping in her own bed tonight. Two of her sisters were in for the funeral and they stayed an extra night to keep her company.

I would think that you stand a better chance of being in a car accident on the way to getting your fill than getting an infection FROM your fill.....no facts or figures, just MHO.

Angelu, click on one of the tickers here in this thread, choose weight loss and follow the instructions. When you get to the end, copy all of the code in the first window and paste it to your signature here in LBT, then save the changes.

LMAO Pat, you worry me, honey.....but thanks for the laugh.

Joy had her second fill yesterday and they took her from a 6 to an 8cc fill. They used the xray and restricted her so that the barium would not pass through. Then the NP unfilled her just a bit and we saw the barium shoot through her band. That was where they left her. Now liquids for a week and then back to mushies and such....

If I make it, I'll be surprised. Janet, Joy's family called last night and informed us that they were driving up from San Antonio today to visit for the weekend. Joy's dad is 81, so I guess we'll sit around the house and watch him nod off on the couch.....oh whooopie...*sigh* -
Hi Susan, watch out for my brother, he's a cop in Ft Worth. I'm the DH to MsJoy (the banded one). If you have any questions, just ask away. Someone here will be glad to answer it, I assure you.

OK, I looked, but I covered my eyes..... Kellie, when you feel like breathing, start showing off all of your new clothes. You're gonna love the new you!

1st fill today - no anesthetic - EASY!
MyKdsDad replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One? One CC? In a 10CC band? That's what I call being cautious. Joy's first fill was 6cc. Are these fills included in the cost of your surgery, Elisa? Or do you have to pay for EACH fill? -
You too, Shack.....How are things in Boise?

Ok Krause, did you make the changes on your ticker at ticker.com? If you did, at the end there are the little windows with the codes in them. Copy ALL of the code from the first window and paste it to your signature. Be sure to delete the old ticker code. Then SAVE the changes.

Lane, my wife is about 8 weeks post op and had been avoiding tomato products of all kinds until yesterday when she had a V-8. Bad, bad, bad shoulder pain. Stay away from tomatoes. Too much acid. You may have reflux, like Joy. The doc put her on Prilosec OTC.

MsJoy and I should be there, Janet... -
MsJoy was banded on 12/28/05. While in the recovery room she began bleeding and she assumed it was her period. Since her surgery she has had a bit of bleeding almost every day. Not a lot...she uses a light days pad most of the time. She just never knows when it may come around. Her OB/GYN doesn't seem that concerned about it. Her next Dr appointment isn't for another week. Any suggestions or thoughts from any of you ladies?

Mary, not right now. Kim, what's happening with your mom? 3loves, I sure will...
