Anyone sleevers in the Portland OR area?
kan_dice replied to sweitzer2148's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for your reply @@sweitzer2148 ! OWLS called me Friday to setup my first set of appointments so I meet w/ dr Patterson on 12/13 and then the nutritionist on 1/6. After those appts they are going to submit for approval with my food logs and gym login records. My policy is very vague as to what the accept for the 6 month rule, so we're taking our chances, and if they do end up requiring the full 6 mo. at least we will have gotten started! Anyone sleevers in the Portland OR area?
kan_dice replied to sweitzer2148's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all! Sorry for jumping on kind of an old thread, but I was searching for "Oregon weight loss surgery" and this came up (thankfully!). I sent my new patient app in on 11/1 and they (OWLS) say to allow 2-6 wks for insurance verification and tmrw will be 4 wks and I haven't heard back. I'm practically dying of impatience! I know I'm covered, because I checked myself before even seeing my primary doc for the referral. Does anyone else have experiences with OWLS they can share? How long from when you sent in your paperwork until you were seen? Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

if you're using the same email for fb as you do when you sign up for instagram, it will pull your suggested friends. it also does this if you allow access to your contacts (search your phone book). BUT you dont HAVE to link it to facebook. it wont ever post on facebook unless you have it selected in the individual post. hope that helps! -

Hi all! I started an account especially dedicated to all things VSG. I'm still working my way around this place and I absolutely love it so far, but I am so familiar w/ IG and love the simplicity of it. Anyway, feel free to follow me and I will follow back! @hopeful_kandice

I am terrified too but ready. I'll keep you posted on the journey. It's a long process to get to where we want to be. Please add me! Do you know if your insurance covers? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My plan covers anything that is considered "medically necessary," and my rep lead me to believe it wasn't exclude I didn't want to ask my HR person at work because everyone at the office is a gossip and I'm not ready to talk to anyone but close friends/fam/hubs abt it. I'm actually calling my insurance today to make 100% sure because I'm still nervous and I don't want to get too emotionally invested and then its not covered. At this point I would probably be devestated though because I'm already 99% committed to the idea. -

Hi Ali! I'm a newbie too and just one baby step ahead of you in the process. I saw my PCP 10/26 and she referred me to the weight loss surgery program I'll be dealing with. Currently waiting on them to call me to schedule the consult. I'm also terrified, but excited. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@@Bufflehead @@kmorri thank you so much for your encouragement! The few friends I have told are supportive, as well as my husband, but it's so great to hear from the people who have lived it and walked in my shoes. I did have to watch an informational video on the surgeon's website before hey even sent me the new patient application (after my PCP referred me). 'm definitely going to call my ins. co in the am to get the prereq info- thanks for the suggestion! Hi everyone! I'm in Portland and waiting on hearing back from OWLS (sent my new patient application on 11/2 and they said to allow 2-6 wks for insurance verification and scheduling the consult). I have Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield and I'm 99% sure I'm covered (my plan covered anything that's considered "medically necessary") but I can't help but worry abt being turned down before I've really even started the process. Hi all! I recently came across this app through my researching and have been reading a ton of super helpful info and thought I'd put myself out there. I'm a 31 y/o Wedding Planner living in the PNW, considering/hoping for getting sleeved. I've struggled with weight all my life and have lost a significant amount (50+ lbs) several times and I always gain it back and then some. I'm now at my highest weight at a BMI of 41.9 and I'm ready for a permanent change and a tool that will help me to accomplish long term success without making myself miserable in the process. I had a checkup w/ my PCP on 10/26 where I told her I have been considering it (and researching for almost a year now), and wanted to take the steps to move forward. She gave me a referral to a weight loss surgery program (I have bariatric coverage w/ my insurance) and I sent in my new patient app on 11/2. They contacted me he next day saying they need to verify ins. and then the patient specialist would contact me for a consult and to allow 2-6 wks. From what I've read it seems that's normal as far as timing. I'm most worried that I will feel that maintaining the changes (several small meals a day, high protein/low carb, etc) long term will become tedious and I will end up failing and/or gaining all my weight back. I'm also anxious not yet knowing what my ins. (Anthem) will require and how long it will all take so I can't plan. I love to plan! Anyway! That's where I am in the process. Any encouragement or success stories would be so helpful!! Thx! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
