I did with smoked salmon no rice, no issue. I think about the 4 week mark? I had to move into the soft foods quicker than expected because I couldn't stand the taste of the shakes. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 342 lbs

I actually did just fine. They didnt have a sugar free alternative, so make sure you keep the portion low. I thought I did and once they weighed it and I figured the calories it didn't taste as good. Lol 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 342 lbs

Yes, surgery went fine. I had to come home on oxygen, but we think that was related to an issue I was having before surgery. It resolved itself. Ultimately, you have to decide how much you can spend, and how your personality is. I didn't get to 380 lbs because I had control over food. I got to 380 lbs because my food had control over me. I don't want to ever go back to that again. 35 years of being overweight, by being controlled by my addiction, I couldn't afford to try the others and see me fail. I had one chance and spent what little 401k I had saved to pay for most of the surgery, the rest was out of pocket. But ultimately, it was the long term results that made my decision. Good luck on your research. I did a lot of it! ???? 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 342 lbs

Hunger pains and uneasy feeling when eating
Miss Impala replied to Lucky2Lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a very good description of what I am gong thru. Hunger pangs, and yet an uneasy, slightly queasy feeling. I thought it was my Premiere shakes, but having the pangs now, and the last shake I had was this morning. And I am on Prilosec, but will keep that theory in mind... 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 342 lbs -

Whoah.. I just felt a vein in my arm under the skin. Weird.. Amazing what just 38 lbs can do to you... I took the shower chair out of the shower as I can stand now without my back being in excruciating pain. I was able to do dishes without having to stop because of the pain in my back. I don't have to turn sideways to get thru the bathroom door anymore. I was able to move the head of the car seat forward one notch. I have been taking the stairs without running out of breath. I have actually been getting up and walking around the office. I went shopping for 2 hours with very little back or foot pain. I don't have near as much trash these days. My wedding ring is already too big for me. I am more often cold than hot! I don't sweat much anymore! I use to laugh at the teeny portions of TV dinners like Weight Watchers and Atkins... now it takes me two meals to eat it all. Career choices that I had been thinking I could never do because of my back pain... are now a possibility. I have saved lots of money from not eating out as much. My hubby has lost 10 lbs already! And most of all... after being controlled by my addiction to food for 35 years... it no longer has that control over me. My life no longer feels dictated by food... I dictate to my food. What are yours? 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 342 lbs

A sleeve might have worked for me... until the hunger started coming back. Then I knew that me being me.. I was going to need a malabsortive element. I hope to have my brain and body retrained before the hunger returns, but just in case... I have that 2nd tool. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 342 lbs

Premier shake causing hunger pangs?
Miss Impala replied to Miss Impala's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes it is too sweet for me, but not near as bad as those others. But being able to get that much protein in in one sitting is awesome! 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 344 lbs -
No more shakes!
Miss Impala replied to Polarbearwifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! If I add to much. It was the chicken flavored unjury kind. I am going to give up on that and try some unflavored brands. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 344 lbs -

No I have just been doing the Premier Protein but I was just told by my nutritionist today to try unjury. I am not a big beans fan. I am trying to do the mashed potatoes in moderations due to the carbs but I really need to come up with something else to help. Thanks for the suggestions. Although I am not a beans fan, I have noticed that my taste buds are a lot different so I may try the refried beans and cheese and see if they work.Suggestion: Get just a sample of the Unjury, because Unjury smells and taste disgusting... to me anyway. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 344 lbs

Best Protein Shakes?
Miss Impala replied to kaypitre5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier and Atkins! 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/24/16: CW 344 lbs -
Well... I had the same issue. The Protein shakes I purchased from the doctor... ugh. I can't get passed the smell let alone the taste. Someone suggested adding a bit of Peanut Butter Protein powder, but it didnt work. At some point now i will try them again, but maybe double the amount of Fluid for just have the package. So after only 5 days on thick and thin fluids, I had to go back to Atkins shakes which I could tolerate, cream Soups, Fairfield milk, cottage cheese, and baby food. Then I tried the Healthy Wise protein soups and was able to stomach them a lot easier. Consult with your doctor and listen to your new tummy. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/19/16: CW 346 lbs

Sorry dudes, dudette here... I briefly pause this thread for a PSA that might help you and give you a point if reference from which to Google and research. hair growth or lack of it is often a sign of hormone imbalance. And being overweight can cause issues. For males it is not enough teststoserone. For females it is too much. I have to shave my gobble aka waddle daily and am looking forward to hopefully seeing less facial hair growth as my body's hormone levels normalize. I would expect the same to happen with men. Possible hair loss in the male pattern baldness and more body hair as you lose weight and your hormones balance out. You of course will have to go thru that after surgery phase of losing hair. And right before that happens as the hair follicle becomes closer to the skin before falling out, it too will give an appearance of thicker or fuller hair as well. Just something to think about. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/19/16: CW 346 lbs

No more shakes!
Miss Impala replied to Polarbearwifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Polarbearwifey I am trying to add it to things to beef up the Protein. For example, back then it was Egg Drop Soup. These days it is Wendy's Chili. That is working very effectively. But not yogurt. I eat that just by itself. I am supposed to get between 80-100 grams of protein in a day. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/19/16: CW 346 lbs -

Girl... prayers are with you on your remaining classes. Sometimes we have wake up calls that make us learn that what we are doing is not working. Or that our confidence let us down. And I totally understand the need to punish yourself with something that used to be your self medication of choice. You will thru this, because you ARE smart! Hugs and positive thoughts coming at ya. You will find a way to recover, but it may take some hard choices of getting rid of an 80 hr week and a mortgage etc... You have learned to live on less physically for your health, now got may need to learn on how to live on less to attain the particular degree you want. And I agree, I am paying someone to teach me, not pass judgements on how many hours I work in a week, nor use it to actually bully me my affecting grades you earned and paid for. You got this! You will rebound! 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/19/16: CW 346 lbs -
