10 days post op want to cheat [emoji30]
Aggiemae replied to farah32's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Three things I do when I am "hungery" 1. Open the refrigerator and consider eating something on plan. If I don't want food I am allowed I'm not really hungry. 2. Exercise or take a walk for 15 minutes. even a short distraction from obsessing about (what ever food I crave) lessens or stops the "head hunger" I also find that physical activity curbs my appetite has two advantages. 3. Get a hobby or past time that you can't do while eating. I build miniature doll house furniture. For the non crafty, consider those elaborate coloring books. if you color with Joel ink you'll get some nice results. Right now I am building a piano. The last one I built took about 65 hours and the tiniest bit of food or oil will ruin it. The most important thing I learned in my pre op phase is that for most people there really are no "good" or "bad" foods. However for those of us who have had our anatomies altered to lose weight there are "best" food choices. Your new eating plan is not a suggestion it's a prescription. If you happen to be 10 days out and hungery have some extra of what is allowed at 10 days. No one is perfect all the time, this site has thousands of posts made by people who ate bacon, candy, sausage, mc donald s, beer, Swedish fish etc three days post op without consequences but don't use that as a reason to justify (or exxcuse) progressing before you are supposed to. -

5 oz of protein OR 10 cookies
Aggiemae replied to jellybean12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, I had my first "slip" a few days ago. We had company or went out every night this week plus house if full to the rafters with chocolate but I managed through to the 7th night of Hanukkah when I ate six pieces of chocolate, I promised myself it was a one off and I was DONE, then had two Lindor truffles. About 15 minutes later I was in the shower getting ready for bed and burped and up came most of not all the chocolate. Gross. -
I feel thinner every day. Down from a tight 3x to a loose 2x and some well fitting 1x.. I have to remind myself sometimes that I am actually still quite fat!

Can't tell weight coming off
Aggiemae replied to nikki0910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As someone already suggested take pictures. In the same cloths if possible. Front, back and side views. Do it every 4 weeks. If you have lost more than 35-50 pounds and honestly can't see a difference and there is a psychologist in your surgeons practice make an appointment and talk to him/her about this. -
How much protein shakes should I take at one time?
Aggiemae replied to Bhappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can not stretch a gastric sleeve. It's impossible to do. liquids, including Protein shakes pretty much go right thru your sleeve into your intestines. You only need to set meal times to get into the habit of not grazing. The volume of the shakes doesn't matter. The powder is about 20 grams. The goal is to get the amount of grams the surgeon or NUT recommended. -
If by "some time" you mean forever. Any man who hits a woman is not worthy of her. No second chances. No forgivness.

It's a solar powered sex machine! I will say that I was surprised to be losing hair... EVERYWHERE!!! Even in those special places. I am a little worried with people reporting that is has come back thicker. I have a "normal" amount of hair now and I don't want to look like a hedgehog later! I could stand to do a hair transplant from my back... husband says that the hair that fell out of his head seeded his back.

I find that hair loss happens at around 6 months every time I lose more than 50 pounds. Last time the "cure" was a pregnancy at age 48....

I grow three kinds of collards in my garden. They grow all winter, even when it snows or freezes few days.

I buy the same things every week, though I sometimes eat what the rest of the family is having for dinner. 1/2 gallon Cashew milk (8 servings) 25 calories in 8oz 1pint of 2% cottage cheese (4servings) 1quart full fat Greek yogurt. (6 servings) 2 tins of sardines in oil ( 1serving each) high in lysine 1can of tuna (2 servings) 1 pint green super food raw juice (4 servings) 2 chicken breasts (4-6 servings) 1large avocado (4 servings) I have at least one shake a day, I have another in the evening if I haven't meet my Protein goal. I use unflavored powder and make shakes with cashew milk or 4 oz of raw juice and a hand full of ice. My goal is at least 100 grams of protein and no more that 25 grams of carbs. I eat 5 meals a day. I make all the food for the week at once because I divide my time between two homes and don't have time to cook during my work days. I can't handle raw veggies yet but I do fine dice onions and pickles I to my spreads. I poach the chicken in canned chicken broth and use one chicken breast to make a pot of Soup and make chicken salad with the other one. I don't restrict fat, except that with the small total volume I don't get a huge amount. I use full fat mayo in my tuna salad and chicken salad. I have 4-6 crackers (1/2 of a "serving" 8 grams of carbs) a few times a week. Usually I melt cheese on parchment into disks and use them like crackers. 2oz of shredded cheese makes 6 "crackers".

Why didnt cream of wheat stay down?
Aggiemae replied to Gucci's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try using a tiny spoon, eat very slowly and making it a bit thinner. I personally have never had a problem with fat of any kind. For me this happens when I get air in my stomach. -
My traditional New Year's day meal is 2 Tylenols a large dose of vitamin C and a quart of water.

Protein vs Calories what's too much
Aggiemae replied to Renea Glover's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A journal is an excellent tool. I keep track of everything in mine. Keeps me honest too. Many people don't realize that there is actually a uniform standard of care for bariatric patients. Surgery centers that meet this standard are called "centers of excellence". Something people who have not yet had surgery consider when looking for a surgeon. I often wonder what people who didn't get enough information, instructions or education would do if they did me have internet sites, like this one, to go too. It's very troublesome. -
I've been married for 40 years (yikes!) 38 years ago my husband grabbed my arm to stop me from leaving the room while we were arguing about him starting to smoke tobacco again after quitting as a wedding gift to me. I left him that night with a 4 month old baby in tow and and we lived separately for two years. After a few months of embracing his "freedom" he started anger management. A while later he joined NA and AA. Then he quit smoking. We did, at my insistence, rewrite it marriage contact before I made the commitment to try again. However, if he'd hit me I would have has his a** arrested and none of the things I just wrote about would never have happened.

Protein vs Calories what's too much
Aggiemae replied to Renea Glover's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You said you aren't good a measuring and counting. I am curious, didn't you have to keep a journal of exactly what you ate for the first few weeks after WLS? I thought is was a "standard of care" thing? (American Society for Medobolic and Bariatric Surgons). I measure everything. I can see that I would slide back into my old familiar behavior if I didn't. Think about getting a set of measuring ups. -
Protein vs Calories what's too much
Aggiemae replied to Renea Glover's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One scoop of powder in 8 oz of milk is 29-33 grams of Protein. I have a hard time understanding why anyone can't get get three of theses down in the 15-18 hours they are awake everyday. As for your question, the calories don't matter if you are counting your carbohydrates. My plan says no more that 1/4 of my grams should be carbs. I am on full diet so I try for 100 grams of protein and no more that 25 grams of carbs. I do not monitor my fat intake at all, and have avocado, butter, olive oil, mayonnaise, , butter and heavy crean. Of course I can only eat a bit over three ounces so my diet isn't actually fat filled. I loose about 2 pounds a week, 3 if I stick to my exercise plan. I am 64 years old and have been yoyo dieting for 20 years, so my body is pretty stubborn about holding on to fat. -
My husband says that passing a stone is the closest thing to child birth a man can experience. He also says that if men had to give birth the human race would be extinct because none of them would be willing to go through that much pain more than once.

I was also in hospital for two weeks post op with a non WLS problem and gained over 10 pounds due to the IV fluids. All the fluid weight, plus 5 pounds of FAT came off after I came home. Hang in there.

2 Weeks Post Op Stomach Pain
Aggiemae replied to sill21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got pain drinking cold thing for the first month. Stop when I started drinking everything room temp. Could that be the problem. -
Bread is the one thing that makes me sick. I have a 5 c.f. cup of stuffing once and 1/2 slice of French bread in a restaurant another time. Both times I felt like it got stuck and I go sweaty and dizzy and heaved. I think it gets sticky and mushy when I chew it and just can't go down right. That's aside from the fact that it's a waste of calories and often a trigger food.
