You know you lost weight when
Aggiemae replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You pull up you panties and they fall back down around your ankles! -
Cooking? We get those boxes that include everything for 3 meals for four people. We use green chef because it's organic and not over packaged but there are others like Gobble, Blue Aprion and Hello Fresh. Gobble is the easiest, te verifies mostly come cut up and all their meals are "one skillet" The cooking is easy. There are low calorie, low carb and even Paulo options. I make my 2 meals of 2:1 Protein and low deal carbs and there is plenty enough for my husband and son for dinner and left overs for lunch the next day. I have vouchers for free trial meals if anyone want one PM me. I don't work of these companies and don't get anything at all from giving out the vouchers.

25 days in hospital...need advice!
Aggiemae replied to concernedwife99's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Get a second opinion from a GI specialists asap. Go to a different hospital if your insurance allows it. Does your hospital have a PATIENT ADVOCATE? Call administration and ask for help. -
First major holiday meal coming up since being sleeved . . .
Aggiemae replied to simpsongrad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am stuffed full on 2oz of protein and an oz of carbs. I'm planned to fill my 5cc carb cup with a tinybit of each thing I want to taste.... though, not much interest in food now so I will probably go with green beans and a baby spoon size bite of fresh ground cranberry, oranges and honey. -
Left the hospital 14 pounds higher
Aggiemae replied to jerseygirl10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal, wait a week before you weigh again. I know it's dissapointing because I'm in hospital and up 11 pounds due to IV fluids (and maybe the 100mg of prednisone). I know I'm not gaining fat on less than 600 calories a day but it's still frustrating. I keep reminding myself that I didn't gain this 100 pounds in a week! -
scared...smoker and craving
Aggiemae replied to mamalisa268's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Call the surgeon first thing monday and discuss some strategies. You can't possible be the first person struggling with this. Have you tried the "search" feature for past threads? -
The sleeve is the same size that it was after your recovery. Are you going to treat your underlying eating disorder before getting another surgery?

Were you an active person before surgery?
Aggiemae replied to mbuczkowski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I work half time. Have a huge garden and swim most every day in the summer. These past few weeks have been lazy but I am walking 1/2 mile a day. Even while I am in the hospital. -
I gained back the weight after VSG
Aggiemae replied to runaroundsue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve doesn't stretch or change. It still works you just have to figure t how you can work with it. I read where people restart back at the basics with high Protein shakes and no calorie liquids. If you aren't getting counceling for your eating issues already you should . If the surgeon who did your sleeve has in house support you can go there, if not they can probably recommend a psychologist and a nutritionist who specialize in weight loss. Don't give up on yourself. Good luck. Sleeves don't break. -

So THIS is why my back hurts!
Aggiemae replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was youn nurse I used to watch the older nurses hunch and limp and decided to mitigate the possible damage before it happened. I wore a shoulder brace all the years I worked doing in patient care. Try one like this: https://www.opensky.com/1smartdeal/product/details-about-posture-corrector-magnetic-back-shoulder-brace-belt-adjustable-therapy-straight?max_discount=1 You can buy one on line but go y them on at a medical supply store first. Get the one with the most adjustments. If your insurance doesn't cover PT self pay is about $95.00. here. You will only need 1 or 2 visits to get a posture/gait treatment plan. -

What happened to my post? The exercises will help with the pain Does your WLS have in house PT. If yes, make an appointment. Othotic inserts in your shoes will reduce pain and might improve your posture. Check out posture belts, but the good ones are pricy so discuss this with PT before investing. -
Pre-Op Cold Feet Due to Family's WLS Disapproval :(
Aggiemae replied to Vagrant Violet's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is the reason I didn't tell anyone before the except my husband and one close friend who I knew would be supportive and not gossip. The strongest reactions? From my fat friends. Maybe it's to close to home. I have a "high needs" friend who usually doesn't go more that three days without checking in. We usually meet up for Breakfast every second Sunday. I haven hear from her at all and she's canceled breakfast at the last minute twice. I have quickly lost and slowly regained the same 100 pounds 7 timest in the past 20 years. Then suddenly I could seem to lose any weight even on a very restrictive 1200 calories deit and my A1C was creeping up What is really weird is that it's the skinny women are so quick to advise that I could have lost the weight AGAIN....argh... ignore the comments so you can live a long healthy life. You deserve it. We all do. -
The pureed pie comment. The pie comment was a joke. Or maybe I was just frustrated by the number of new sleevers who come here asking if they can eat sausage, steak, bacon etc 3 days post op. Or choose mashed potatoes from KFC as their first pureed food. Right before I had my surgery I looked at some utube posts and, no kidding, the women in the first three I watched all said they did not bother with the post surgery diet! One said she ate a 1/2 of a grilled cheese sandwich the first post op week. With the food questions posted here i can't decide if it's an appalling lack of pre operative education or they just come here hoping someone will tell them what they are doing is fine. My tolerance for stupid has been pretty low lately.

I woke up this morning with a sore throat and sinus infection on the palsy side of my face. In a way it's good because it might be the reason for the swallowing problems and the cheek and jaw pain. I am doing my face exercises, taking my vitamins plus extra C, E and B and added garlic capsules last night. I can blink my eye now and it stayed shut all night without an eye patch. My husband is coming later and we are going to theFT room to walk on the treadmill.

I work up this morning with Bell's Palsy.

Drinking question
Aggiemae replied to Jenny Nelson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost four weeks out and can drink thin liquids at a fairly normal speed. Can't swallow hard or gulp, just slow and steady. -
I'm just about 4 weeks out and three of them have already faded to a white line. My incisions were glued so I couldn't treat them at first. Once the glue walked off all I did was dab on some olive oil. I also use coconut oil (food grade) on all my skin after my shower to keep it soft.

Don't ask him what he thinks. Explain why you are doing this and ask for his support. If he starts grieving his opinion tell him you love him but are past the point of advice or discussion and ask him again to just support your choice.
-
Ask a nutritionist for a referral they usually know who deals well with food issues.

How much has everything been required to lose before surgery?
Aggiemae replied to InspectorJensen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our clinic did not require any weight loss however sometimes insurance companies do so some people in my pre op classes did have to lose a certain amount of weight. There is a two week surgery prep diet to get your organs shrunk for the surgery. -
Straws put air into your stomach. Since your sleeve isn't going to get bigger that will always be the case.

Bitingcat, I have an "undefined" autoimmune disorder as well. I tested positive for RA in 1994 but as it hasn't progressed as expected it's not RA but I have had five joint replacements so it's not nothing either. As for nurse ratchet. I really thought long and hard about what to do because I didn't want to be the cause of someone losing their job. But in the end I realized that there was no way this was an isolated incident since she started in on me the minute she walked into my hospital room. And I only gave the highlights here, it was much worse. Bottom line she was unprofessional at best and sometimes outright reckless. She did not get fired but she is on probation and can't work in bariatrics or post op/recovery even when her probation is over. Thanks for visiting!

Aggiemae replied to missionslimmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 6 months will go buy quickly. We fat people don't like to wait for thingd we want, but most of us you've probably seen overweight for years. Abort half of WLS patients regain their weight. Use this time to prepare for a major life change. Educate yourself so ouwill so succeed.
