Love my bloody, doing lots of butt toning exercise for the muscles. I will get a butt lift if the skin gets saggy. For now I wear Bali panties that have built in "cheeks" so don't flatten things out the way some shapewear does. I tried to post a picture but it was a no go. My boobs aren't that big (42c) and I am wearing a sleep bra at night to give gravity a hand which (according to a plastic surgeon I know) will keep the skin tissue from thinning if I lose some of the underlying breast tissue so that getting implants will require less surgery.

My only regret about WLS is that I didn't do it sooner. Where are you in the process?

Is you finance over weight? How about your family members? Very often these reactions are about their issues with weight. Someone else making changes threatens them. You are so young and your life is just starting. Please don't live your life to please others. And, as Hollyhock just said, think carefully about getting married to someone who gets angry at you for wanting to improve your appearance and health. My experience that my fat friends have been the least supportive. Even the ones who don't know I have had WLS but notice that I've lost some weight manage to piss me off. One of them recently told me she thought I'd lost enough weight! Seriously? Um... I weigh 235 POUNDS, I am morbidity obese.

The advantage of in house is that there usually isn't an extra charge. It's just like any other pre op visit.

Completely agree. I think it's a bit ridiculous that she called your surgery center to ask about their post-op plan. You would know best, not some random internet stranger. Funny.

Since you don't know what I'm talking about, I will explain. "Centers of excellence" adhere to a specific set of guidelines including a fairly specific post op diet. I think that Babbs posted it. Interestingly, when I looked up "bariatric center of excellence KC, I noticed that many WLS doctors and clinics SEEM to squeeze the word "excellence" into the first line of their websites, I did find ONE that claimed to be accredited. However, on further investigation, there aren't any actual ACCREDITED hospitals in Kansas City, KA or MO. http://www.surgicalreview.org/locate/ice/locate-bariatric-center-of-excellence/?list=ice In my opinion, based on your stated "food plan", you received substandard care. You are satisfied with that care so that is not really my issue. My issue was that you claimed you got this substandard care at a "bariatric center of excellence". Over the past five years I have spent a considerable amount of time and energy establishing the framework for the "center of excellence" designation, which is why I was concerned. And since I now know that you did not get your diet instructions from a "center of excellence" as you previously claimed my interest in this has ended. However, pre op patients need to be aware that any surgery center can claim to be a "center of excellence" so do your homework and choose your surgeon and hospital carefully. I left a link.

It was 8 months, including the 8 weeks between orientation and my first appointment. My insurance requires 6 months of pre op education. But there where only 8 days between finishing the pre op requirements and my surgery. Lots of new patients around the first of the year so it could be longer till your first appointment. If you can get in last minute, let them know you can fill a cancellation. And be sure to let staff know that you will only have insurance till July at your first visit and mention it every time you are seen. The staff at my surgeons office went out of their way to accommodate people's individual needs.

I saw the staff psychologist at my first visit. But it was really based on who was seeming patients the day of my first nurse practitioner visit. I made appointments to see her a few more time pre op and have my (required) post op visitv in February.

BTW a "horrible experience" in the REAL WORLD ? 1. Watching your children starve to death or die of a preventable disease. 2. Being denied refugee status because of your religion. 3. Losing your health care, like 20 million people are about too, because just 25 % of Americans elected a pompous lying windbag president. 4. Being a homeless disabled veteran denied benefits by congress. 5. Dying of breast cancer and leaving three children under 10 with a drug addicted father. 6. Along with way more clothing that any one person should own I have bras from size 44c down to 38b. Wearing 42c now with a good shaper tank over it. "Genie" shape ware. Cheep and well made.

there is only one "center of excellence" in KC , which is an accreditation given to HOSPITALS not individual does. The office is closed now but I least a message to call me in the morning to discuss their post op nutrition instructions.

This is kind of where I am, too. I have a list of what to avoid, but other than that they've cleared me to try foods while others who are 2 weeks post-op are still on liquids. Um... where did you have your surgery? Insurance?

300 calories the first 10 days, then 400-500 for a few weeks, now, 10 weeks out, 700-800 a day I don't track calories I plan my meals to come to, 100 grams Protein/25 grams carbs/20 grams fat 1gram of Protein and carbs= 4 calories 1gram of fat= 9 calories there may be added fat in your protein choice.

My husband is a reconstructive plastic surgeon so he doesn't do cosmetics but he has told me (more than once) that aside from breast augmentation, it's best to wait a full year after reaching my weight goal for plastic surgery because my skin will shrink some on its own and I will get better results if I wait. Meanwhile , I do moisturize head toe toe daily, wear a shaper to keep my abdominal skin and thighs from stretching and wear a bra 24/7. Gravity is not my friend. Most sought after surgeons in my area are booked out 4-6 months. So I am going for a consult as soon as I hit goal, i figure the worse that can happen is that I tone up some and need less skin removed.

Restricting access to major survey for people who are not going to be compliant post op is done in their best interest. Of course anyone who has cash can get around this at any of the hundreds of surgery mills where the only pre operative concern is their bank book balance. The woman was wearing a bikini in her pre op photos comes to mind. And NO I did NOT say that everyone who has insurance that doesn't cover WLS or doesn't have health insurance at all (as 20 million who won't now that Trump/Pence/ GOP are in power).

I had a moment of doubt the second post op day when I considered that I might have been out of my mind to consider doing such a crazy thing. Since then I would say I'm feeling pretty neutral. It's a tool that I got to lose weight because I didn't want to die. I am glad it was an option available to me but I don't imagine I will ever love it.

By the time I reached the point that I was having WLS I'd had 20 years of "last suppers" and I'd been on hundreds of "start on Monday" diets and I'd allowed my self to stuff my face all day after I ate one off plan donut at a 9am work meeting deciding i would "start fresh" in the morning. Apparently I did learn something during that time because I refused to look at WLS as a punishment. During the pre op classes I also became aware that I wasn't saying goodbye to food forever. Honestly, I didn't even think of having (another) one final, never going to eat like this again, absolutely the last time, blow out meal .
