Freaking out feeling awful!
Aggiemae replied to sleeveitobeaver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good to hear that you are doing better! If puree makes you feel sick thin it a little or go back to liquids for a few days. -
I was on narcotic pain meds and the binder immediately reduced my pain to almost nothing.

How Often Do You Have Bowel Movements?
Aggiemae replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every 4-6 days. Not constipated, it's just such a way smaller amount of food that it has a longer travel time. I rarely had gas before and now I go days without farting. -
Older people doing gastric sleeve
Aggiemae replied to stellabella1334's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 64 and five weeks post op. According to my surgeon I might lose slower and on "average" older people tend to lose less weight over all. The only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. -
Stomach capacity-3 months out-Little restriction seems like
Aggiemae replied to jilani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even if you can eat 12oz of food you shouldn't of you want to keep losing weight. If you eat slowly , as you were probably instructed, you will feel full before you down 12 oz of food. Do you keep track of your calories, Protein and clear fluids? -
I checked the carbs in the Hawaiian one. 32 grams per serving, the serving size is 11/2 cups. Only 12 grams of Protein. http://www.fooducate.com/app#!page=product&id=5535B7AA-018E-8A1C-4DFD-B2BD769DC2C9

Yes, you can mix it with milk, I use 1% . The milk adds 8grams of protein.

This is the text: Sorry you are having such a hard time with your new lifestyle...you know nothing is as easy as they say it will be... WTF?

My husband (6'4" 190lbs) appears to have gone out of his mind since I had the surgery. I have lost and gained the same 100 pounds 7 (yes seven) times in the last 20 years. I didn't ask his opinion about or get his approval for the surgery. I've always been outgoing and active and had male friends so he's not insecure or jealous. He loves to eat, even when our kids were little we ate dinner out at least 2-3 times a week. I think he his flipped out that I can't eat with him. I think he is really morning. Today is the first time he has commented on the weight loss and that's only because my pajamas bottom fell down to my ankles while I was making coffee. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Are revisions REALLY necessary?
Aggiemae replied to Babbs's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
We disagree on what is and isn't ethical. I had a morbidly and mortality yesterday. 357 lb 42 yo band to sleeve to bypass died in the ER. Seems to me that our south western boarder is teaming with doctors all to happy to "revise" anyone who has the cash. And NO, I am NOT saying that every, or even most, doctors in Mexico are unethical. I feel bad for the people who self paid and were given little or no pre op education and sent home with a diet sheet and worse of all can't get in contact with the surgeon or staff when something goes wrong. That being said there are others who have every opportunity to learn and prepare and didn't. Some of them love to share their misguided and sometimes dangerous opinions with each other. As Already addressed, Literacy is a huge factor with people who are "medically non compliant" . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think we just broke up...shedding unsupportive friends
Aggiemae replied to Aggiemae's topic in Rants & Raves
She was one of the two people aside from my husband that I told. I did it after I had surgery so maybe I had a sense that she wouldn't approve... venting did put it into perspective. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I think we just broke up...shedding unsupportive friends
Aggiemae replied to Aggiemae's topic in Rants & Raves
I texted back that I never thought it would be easy and asked her where she got that impression since we haven't seen each other in 7 weeks and in the 8 years we have been friends have never discussed WLS. She has gained a great deal of weight in the past few years and though she makes a point of choosing rich foods and always has a coffee drink and desert when we go out she is very touchy about her weight. A woman at my OA meetings says she thinks my friend is sad about losing her "eating buddy" Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Not telling anyone. What do you say?
Aggiemae replied to Ssze1109's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is a huge difference between not telling people your private medical history and being untruthful. People who tell me(andever one else) how they lost weight by having surgery and Ishould do it too, piss me off just as much as those who think surgery is the "easy way out". -

Aggiemae replied to Aggiemae's topic in Rants & Raves
For some reason I can't see the text when I start a new thread. So had to come back with a second post to have my rant. The message above is from someone I would have called a close friend a month ago. We meet for Breakfast every 2nd Sunday. I mentioned that I had had WLS in a text on Saturday evening and she cancelled our plans about 15minutes before I would have left the house. No big thing as I was 5 days post op. This is my neediest friend, she calls or texts at least twice a day, so I was surprised when I didn't hear from her for a few days. I calleher and invited her to do a few things she declined each time, then 2 weeks ago I woke up with one side of my face paralyzed due to limes disease and spent 12 days in the hospital with complications. I did not hear from her once. Last night she sent this text: "Hi, how are you doing? Are you settling into your new lifestyle?" Other than letting her know I have had the surgery (she was one of the two people told) I have never talked with her about it at all. I responded (briefly) explanation of the whole medical mess (paralysis, high dose steroids, crazy high blood sugar, insulin, antiviral, transgeminal nerve pain)in response she sent this text: "Dang! Sorry you are having such a hard time with your new lifestyle...You know nothing is as easy as they said it would be." Wow. -
October Sleevers, how are you doing?
Aggiemae replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve on10/25. Down 23.5 pounds. Walked 1 mile yesterday. -
40 pounds in two months...let me ask you some questions... How long did it take you to get to your lightweight? Have you ever been able to stay on a healthy eating plan for two months? I think that being impatient and unable to defer my immediate desires is the biggest reason that I got fat in the first place so I do get what you are saying.

9 months post op tomorrow
Aggiemae replied to KristinJ78's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look great. -
I was getting scheduled narcotic pain medication plus the morphine pump for 24 hours. Took oral pain meds for a few days after getting home. As soon as I got compression on my abdomen the pain improved 90%. Everyone is different when it comes to pain. I have had both hips replaced and was ready to go home the day after surgery the first time but had a five day post stay for pain management with the second one.

A DR removed 2/3s of your stomach without any preoperative education because you could pay. And you don't even know what you are supposed to eat? Please post his name and clinic address here, you would be doing a service for others her tries to prey on. You need to find a bariatric surgeon or medical weight loss program that has a staff nutritionist and physical therapy in house. close to home and be seen ASAP.

So I'm not worried but have a question
Aggiemae replied to MTWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If something (for example eating food you have to "chew, chew, chew" 10 days post op) HURTS you need to STOP doing it. You just had MAJOR SURGERY. -
I'm 5 weeks post op and in the past few days I have finally been able to swallow down water a normal pace. Just started working on increasing the amount of water I drink yesterday.
