1day1life4now", I am an administrator at the hospital. She would have know that if she read my chart... I am also one of the hospitals Patient Advocates. So trust me when I tell you I did everything you suggested and more. She is banned from the unit and since her position is "casual on call" I don't think she is getting many shifts. Disneyland NO SEATBELT EXTENDER!
Aggiemae replied to Aggiemae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Disney Princess Character Breakfast today . Egg white frittata with chopped tomato, cilantro, avocado and lime. Husband ate my hash browns. My sons girlfriend, Gaby at my (4 strips!) bacon. Aaron ate my danish, yogurt and fruit, except on chinch of pineapple. Many photos where taken... I already walked 4 miles today before I can back to the hotel to swim. I fell earlier today so I might need an old lady scooter this afternoon as we will be in the park from 5pm till closing... we'll see. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Are revisions REALLY necessary?
Aggiemae replied to Babbs's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
How is being concerned that someone is getting poor or possibly unethical medical care being judgmental? WLS is a CASH COW for many surgeons. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Neither my insurance or my surgeon required me to lose weight. The NIH did a study that found little benefit for pre op surgery. My surgeon only requires pre op weight loss for pts so obese that surgery would be dangerous. I did lose 12 pounds during my 6 month pre op program by trying some of the strategies taught in the class. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any dinning advice for Disneyland in California?
Aggiemae replied to Miss Rachel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We had dinner in a Disney California Adventure restaurant last night. I had two slices of tritium, a bite of lobster, two spoons of potatoes and a few bites of broccoli. The desert plate featured creme brûlée, a Madeline and a dark chocolate mouse cake . So basically $50.00 for 4oz of food. Dinner included preferred seating to the holiday light show. Kids are having a blast. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Basically. I wanted to lose weight so bad, I have basically dedicated my entire life for the past 18 months to it. I think for me, the scare I had with my heart was enough to really push me to take it seriously. I don't think that everyone has that kind of traumatic experience to push them to health. I'm glad I had my surgery when I did and I was able to get insurance to pay for it. I really feel that since surgery has become fast and easy for surgeons and is a huge money maker, that so many people that don't really qualify for surgery are having surgery. Eventually this is going to skew the results long term in a big way as a lot of people are going to be failures (yes I am using failure, because it applies), and make surgery not seem like the great cure that it really is. All these new people that never hit goal or get anywhere close to it and start regaining before 12 months are going to ruin the stats and make it harder for the people that come after that. Luckily a lot of them are going to Mexico so hopefully they won't count in the stats. I'm not even going to start on all the anorexics that are going to Mexico and posting here, that is another tragedy that needs it's own thread. Crazy right? Yet we have a full contingent of people who think that "jumping through the hoops" required by their insurance companies is standing in the way of weight loss progress... IMO, if you're morbidly obese you didn't get that way is 6 months. Part of successful weight loss is LEARNING that you can't always get everything 30 seconds before after you decide you want it...so just STFU and do your pre op program. Who knows, if you put in some actual effort in, the 6 months of education might even do you some good. Off topic NWLV! We are on vacation at Disneyland it's 66 degrees here (and snowing at home). I walked over 6 miles yesterday and 4 miles (so far) today. I was in a wheelchair lest visit. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Tired of hearing I don't need surgery!
Aggiemae replied to Dknal2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
She might be treating other patients this way. Report her to the office supervisor and your state nursing board. She wouldn't lose her license but she will be reprimanded. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone have gastric sleeve and then find out you were diagnosed with Lyme disease?
Aggiemae replied to dr3am3rstarz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get symptoms but this was my only major flair nice 1985. After 3 weeks the Paralysis in my face is 90% better. I am pretty sure that it was the high lysine diet that helped the most. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I didn't tell anyone but my husband before surgery and told my two close friends after. Don't care what anyone else thinks and don't want to deal with their opinions or judgement. Like I always tell my kids, your body your rules. I am a private but outgoing person and I might some tell some people when they notice I've lost weight. Others will be told "strict diet and exercise" which is the truth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It's no as bad as asking if you've "found" Jesus but it's unprofessional to say the least. Was she an RN or a medical assistant? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Alas being rude and unprofessional it's a licensing issue. However, I am an administrator at the hospital and she would have know that if she read my chart. She was disciplined and will not work in bariatrics again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

One of the RN's on the hospitals bariatric unit informed me (amount other things) that I need to stop complaining about pain since I had.elective surgery...she also told me that I would probably regain all the weight anyway... so little Bill I feel your anger. Report her to the offiic supervisor. She treats people like this because she counts on the fact that she shames them so they will not report hat.

What to pack for lunch when 6 weeks out
Aggiemae replied to Daisy Day's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
One ounce of chicken cubes, one ounce of cheese cubes and one ounce of mixed nuts = 27 grams of carbs. I found 4oz containers at the dollar store. Perfect size for cottage cheese, tuna salad and yogurt. costco sells chicken salad in small tubs. They are really tasty. Depending on your carb restriction you might be able to have low fat crackers with you Protein. I have 4 once in a while. I look forward to being able to tolerate more raw vegetables. Always have Water on hand to sip between solids so you get in all you need I find that I lose weight faster if I have at least 64 oz of plain water in addition to any other liquids I drink. I keep bags of 20 unsalted almonds in my desk to have on hand for caterer meetings. We have lots of them! It's nice to have something to crunch on while everyone eats danish. And small bottles of diet Snapple are a nice treat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App First thing is 27 grams of protein not carbs! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

People's le posting questions like "can I have sausage 3 days post op@ make me nuts too. The post op diet is not a suggestion it's a prescription. I want to lose weight so desperately that I had major surgery so I follow mine. I have a concern that people who do not get that WLS isn't some magical solution that will solve there obesity without any further any effort either didn't get good pre op education or just were not paying attention. I went back to work 3 weeks post op. I really could have gone back in 2weeks . I have a deadline job but lots of meeting all over the hospital campus had no problems at all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My insurance did not require weight lose before WLS and unless a person is so obese that the surgery is high skin neither did the hospital base program I attended. They did require pre operative education. My insurance required 6 months 6 classes and 12 provider appointments. Some insurance requires less but the programs minimum per op programs is 3 months. I leaned a great deal from the classes.

The day you are allowed is not always the day you should. Eat wetter food, especially meats and try eating with a tiny spoon and fork. And chew way more than you have ever chewed before.

Any dinning advice for Disneyland in California?
Aggiemae replied to Miss Rachel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just so happens we are going to Disneyland tomorrow. There is a food 4 less about 2 miles away to pick up what ever you make your shakes with. Powdered Protein travels easy. I got individual packets to unjury. There is very little you can eat 6 weeks post WLS at Disney restaurants, but you can get 2% milk at some venders. I will bring a shaker and packets of condiments with me. And buy tuna in pop top cans, a pound of cottage cheese and a roasted deli chicken. Which will last me all five days, my kids will eat the chicken along with their crispy cream donuts.. there was a group on for Medieval Times so we are going there too. Can't wait to see What I'm paying $52.00 to not eat. Have fun! -
