  1. Happy 42nd Birthday FunkyGirl!

  2. Happy 41st Birthday FunkyGirl!

  3. Honestly being naked was my biggest issue as well.....but when the day came for my surgery....i was prepared and calm...I remembering taking all my clothes off & putting the gown on..Plus the crazy socks and I was fine. For the first time in my life I was fine being naked in front of medical personal. Body image issues are something most over-weight people deal with....I am glad that I was able to move past the fear of people seeing me naked so that I could improve my quality of life. Thank God for being able to overcome fears!

Dozy, I love your scripture choice from Duet.
  5. You are not alone in this...I am having a similar issue...I am playing around with the same 3 pds. Up and down. Today i visited lapband.com again & looked at the eating requirements for the 1st year after surgery. I have read the requirements over & over but today I feel like I woke up to the reality of how hard it is and I have to be committed to cutting the calories and making myself work out at least 3 times a week. Here's the basic requirements : Daily: 1 to 2 servings of Fruit (1.5 cups) 2 to 3 servings of Veggies (2.5 cups) 1 small portion of cornflakes for Breakfast (One small portion of low-sugar cold or hot cereal) Half to one slice of toasted whole wheat or rye bread each day 1 to 2 oz of meat, fish, poultry or 1 egg 2 cups of skim milk or lowfat yogurt 1 oz of cheese 3 to 4 teaspoons of Fat (butter/oil) Unlimited: Tea Clear Soup Water Flavored sugar free drinks I know that I have not obtained the "zone" yet...so I can not wait until my next fill. Keep your chin up...we will do this!
  6. I have been at a stand still in my weight loss. I decided to start Atkins again this week..hoping to see some weight loss. I obviously am not in the "zone" yet. Can the "biggest losers" share their average calorie count for each day?
  7. Are you chewing your food until it is applesauce consistancy? I always get stuck if I am really hungry & I dont take the time to really chew my food (especially meat) until it is like applesauce in my mouth

    Need help - vomiting

It sounds to me that she either eats to fast & does not chew her food to applesauce consistancy or her band is too tight & she needs some of the saline removed. I have a friend who likes it really tight & she knows she will spit up the heavy foods so she sticks to hot tea and soups & salads. Hopefully she hasnt developed an addiction to purging...she needs to tell the Dr. Keep us posted.

    Husband and wife team

Hey, it was neat to see your post. I was banded on 2/22/08 & my husband was banded on my birthday 3/17/08. After observing our best friend for the last 3 yrs with the band & seeing her lose 100+ pds and also flying through her reconstructive surgery. Her success story gave us the confidence to finally decide to have it as well. We both have struggled with our weight since our pre-teen years and we knew we had to take drastic measures to ensure we live a healthy, happy long life. Best wishes for you & your husband.

    Am I doing something wrong?

I was banded on 2/22 as well. I am just maintaining. I have 5cc. I experience food getting stuck at least once a day...I have only had to throw up once. I have another fill tomorrow. I have a friend who is 3 yrs out and has lost 130 pds. She got a fill last week & she is back to sipping hot tea to eat. I guess it is true it takes 6-8 fills for the Happy place to kick in.
  11. I am sure you are fine! I am on my 2nd fill & I have a total of 5cc in a 10cc band. I have had the adjustment for a little over a week...I havent really started to see the pounds drop...How have you losted 81 pds in 6 months? That is amazing. I would appreciate any tips.

    Question About Fills

I was banded on 2/22, 6 wks later got 4 cc & 4 wks later on May 1st I got 1 cc. I can tell a huge difference with the 1cc. Almost everything that I was eating before now is difficult to eat...several times this week I didnt feel like eating because it is such an effort to chew...I havent puked...but I have had the food get stuck & painfully have to wait for the food to pass. How did your 2nd fill go?

    banded 4-29

It took me a week to bounce back after the surgery. I am 10 wks out & I have not had any complications. The port site will be sensitive & hurt at times for a while but I am so happy I did it! Hang in there...it goes by quick! Now I am watching the scale & trying to get back to eating the "atkins" way.
  14. I was banded on 2/22. I threw up after surgery due to the meds...but i havent since...Thank God! After my 1st fill I experienced a piece of chicken getting stuck & almost pbing...it hurt like a mother & I was starting to panic. I excused myself to the restroom only to find someone in there. I stood outside the ladies room...praying for the food to pass...finally it did...I do not want to experience that again...I chew chew chew chew..
