Struggling with liquids and food 30 days post op
#fitnotfat replied to Xavierdh1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was very similar to yourself and it took me 13 weeks to see my surgeon, during that time I could not eat and even drinking was making me sick and nauseous, turns out I had a stricture, the gap for food to go down is meant to be 3 çm and mine was 6mm so the stretched it twice and got it to 12mm and things are getting better slowly but surely, I'm 6 months post op and have lost 8stone in total, I would do it again even though it has been awful. I would suggest to speak with your consultant and you may need a endoscope to see what is happening. I hope that you feel much better soon x -

I was allowed normal coffee straight after surgery while in the hospital, I just didn't enjoy the taste it tasted burnt so I now have it really weak and with full milk and protein powder love it!!!

Thank you so much for the replies, I had a feeling that it may have been dumping syndrome but as I've not had it before I wasn't sure. Won't be trying that again which is a good thing as it's wasted calories anyway! Never mind this is a big learning curve and I will take it as it comes. Thanks everyone good luck on your journeys.

Stricture!!

I'm 5 months out and I really was struggling eating solid food, had a endoscope on Wednesday and it showed that I had a structure. We are meant to have a 3cm gap for our food to go down and mine was 8mm they even struggled to get the scope through to stretch it. They stretched it to 12mm and I have to go back in 2 weeks for them to stretch it again. Keep an eye on your eating and if you continue to struggle I would suggest to get back in touch with your consultant. Good luck.

I had this and it was a reaction to the blood pressure meds I was put on. Hope it settles down. -
