Struggling with liquids and food 30 days post op
#fitnotfat replied to Xavierdh1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was very similar to yourself and it took me 13 weeks to see my surgeon, during that time I could not eat and even drinking was making me sick and nauseous, turns out I had a stricture, the gap for food to go down is meant to be 3 çm and mine was 6mm so the stretched it twice and got it to 12mm and things are getting better slowly but surely, I'm 6 months post op and have lost 8stone in total, I would do it again even though it has been awful. I would suggest to speak with your consultant and you may need a endoscope to see what is happening. I hope that you feel much better soon x -
I was allowed normal coffee straight after surgery while in the hospital, I just didn't enjoy the taste it tasted burnt so I now have it really weak and with full milk and protein powder love it!!!

Hi I am 6 months post op and have just had my first drink of alcohol, I had about 7 sips of rose wine and the I started sweating profusely but was shivering all over and felt sick!! What was that and has anybody else had the same happen to them? Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for the replies, I had a feeling that it may have been dumping syndrome but as I've not had it before I wasn't sure. Won't be trying that again which is a good thing as it's wasted calories anyway! Never mind this is a big learning curve and I will take it as it comes. Thanks everyone good luck on your journeys.

Stricture!!

I'm 5 months out and I really was struggling eating solid food, had a endoscope on Wednesday and it showed that I had a structure. We are meant to have a 3cm gap for our food to go down and mine was 8mm they even struggled to get the scope through to stretch it. They stretched it to 12mm and I have to go back in 2 weeks for them to stretch it again. Keep an eye on your eating and if you continue to struggle I would suggest to get back in touch with your consultant. Good luck.

As the title says I've lost 50lbs in 5 months since my rny surgery, is that a low amount to lose? Been in a bit of a stall the last two weeks and have only lost 2lbs hope I start losing again it's a constant worry! Any comments will be helpful thanks in advance.

Week4 post op problem eating
#fitnotfat replied to Josie1958's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I spoke with my surgeon about exactly the same thing, he said the food that's getting stuck is food that will mush together like Mac an cheese and chicken and bolognaise but I'm fine with things like crackers and mash and soups, he said just mix it up but take my time because every one is different but we will all get there in the end. Hope this helps x -
Same here I'm 8 weeks out and hate food, nothing tastes the same and anything thicker than soup gets stuck after about 3 teaspoons full. Please tell me it gets easier [emoji21]

I also had c-section and I'd rather have had that again than the rny surgery, i was in sooooo much pain for the first 2 days then it started to settle down, so hopefully you will start to feel better soon x
-
Aw I feel for you momto6kids I also had a horrible time and regretted having surgery but 2 weeks later I felt much better, just do what berry78 has said and keep trying to drink little sips but maybe more often. Big hugs to you it does get better x

Did anyone else get nightmares/vivid dreams during their 2-week liquid diet?
#fitnotfat replied to G33kg1rl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had vivid dreams/ nightmares starting at my pre op diet and have continued, I am 6 weeks post op and they are still vivid sometimes I wake up thinking it was real!! -
So I'm 6 weeks post op and for the last week I've been feeling nauseous all day every day, I've lost 23 lbs since my surgery even with a 2 week stall so I'm happy about that but I just can't get back on my feet as I feel so I'll. Did anyone else have the same problem or is anyone else going through this now. Any suggestions of what to do would be much appreciated. Thanks
